  1. I've only told my husband and one friend. I have no desire to share my journey with people who will most likely not understand it. I lost about 50 pounds a few years ago and got a lot of inquiries about the weight loss, so I expect to get them again once I have the surgery. I plan to say that I am eating less and exercising more, which is true. For me, I am less confident as an obese person and constantly talking about my weight doesn't help. This is what I feel most comfortable doing, but each person has to find their own comfort level with sharing or not sharing their surgery story. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  2. I discussed the sleeve with my surgeon because I too did not want my innards rerouted. But last week I had my upper GI and the results showed a small hiatal hernia and "spontaneous gastroesophageal reflux". Now I'm concerned that RNY may be my only option and for some reason it scares me so much. I know I will need to discuss at my next appointment with the surgeon. Hearing other's success stories with RNY is helpful. Congrats to all on your success. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  3. Sorry to hear it has been a tough road. You are so close now! I finished my upper GI and psych evaluation this week and will have my last nutrition visit on sept 15th before sending off for insurance approval. Who is doing your surgery? I have Rosenthal. Would love to keep in touch and hear about your journey. Best wishes! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  4. I made my first consultation with the surgeon two years ago and chickened out until I got serious again this year. You'll know when you are ready. Don't be too hard on yourself! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  5. I am in my three month nutritional counseling and also had the fear of not waking up from surgery. This was lessened somewhat after discussing my fear with my surgeon and realizing if I don't do the surgery, some other co-morbidity would take me out. Look around....how many obese senior citizens do you know? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  6. Anyone using Cleveland clinic in Weston for gastric sleeve? If so, would love to hear about your experience. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
