1 wk post op
I know it's frustrating at first but hang in there and be patient. I always felt like I would be the "one" person that even the surgery couldn't save! I was so resistant (prior to surgery) to losing weight. My body just refused to let go, no matter how much I exercised or how little I ate. It will take a little time to recover from the fluids pumped into you and sometimes you will stall. It's ok, it's all normal and part of the process. I have been on these boards for about 6 months and I have yet to hear even one person say they didn't eventually start losing. It will happen. Just stick to what you're supposed to do. Most important, get your fluids and your Protein. I'm 5 months out and on weeks where my Fluid is especially low or I don't get as much protein, I will stall. Your only job now is to focus on those and when you do (once your body is out of shock), it will start to drop. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Drinking liquids not easy going
I still struggle getting my Water down and I'm 5 months post op today. I find hot thicker liquids go down easier. But, I've also found if I can get past the first few sips, it gets easier. So strange to think I can feel my restriction most on simple water! Keep pushing yourself though. You need the water! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Looking for a Sleeve Buddy!
Definitely .... my loss is very slow now. Usually 3-5 pounds a month. But, slow and steady wins the race. Be patient, it will move again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

A little sugar that bad?
I also wanted to add to what I said above, when family brings in donuts or we have a birthday party or something I do sometimes have a bite or 2, but never a whole piece. This is your life and although we have to do what we have to do to take care of ourselves, you still want to enjoy life and have fun with family and friends. For us, it's just a fine balance and I just look at it like a challenge I'm going to beat! Good luck! I always say that the people who are asking questions and trying to make that balance work are the ones that won't gain the weight back down the road. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

A little sugar that bad?
I'm 5 months out and I do have a regular cup of coffee every morning with creamer (Carnation) and a little Stevia. For me, once my stomach calmed down a couple months post-op, it just seems to settle my stomach and get me started in the mornings. Warm fluids have always gone down better for me (thick and warm better than thin and cold for some reason). I'm down 48 pounds and almost to goal. Still losing although only about 3 pounds a month now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Dr Borland - Louisiana
Are you still doing good with your Water and Protein? How much of each are you getting daily? The ability to continue to lose for me has come down to 3 things: 1) Making sure I'm getting "enough" heathy calories. Unfortunately unhealthy calories seem to settle in my stomach better. This isn't helping build good habits but I'm continuing to try new healthy foods. 2) getting enough protein and 3) getting 1/2 my weight daily in water (75-80 ounces). I've hit a stall too but I know if I focus on these things it will break. You're doing great tho. I'm sorry about your pinched nerve. That's so painful!!!! Dr Borland - Louisiana
Dr Borland patients check in! I made 4 months on December 30th. Have lost 45 pounds which puts me at 156, 5'6". I'm 53 and have had a couple people tell me my face is looking gaunt so I'm probably going to slow it down and start trying to learn how to maintain. I'd like to start lifting some light weights now. Tell me your stories and how you're doing! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

This is very normal at this stage - you're enjoying the restriction you paid for. I am at 4 months and some days I can eat more than others and some foods I still struggle with (I don't do well with shrimp, but chicken goes down well). Unfortunately the carbs slide better for me so I just try to make good carb choices. I think it sounds like you are right on schedule. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I've been doing awful with Water. The first 5-6 sips make me a little queasy. After that I'm fine, but it's tough to get past and then just having a busy life I forget to pour a glass and before I know it, the day is over and I haven't had any! I do drink 2 Premier Protein shakes a day, so I do get Fluid but I've got to get better about the water!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

The Struggle is REAL
You got this!! Mourn the loss and then DECIDE to focus on you. This is YOUR party and he's not invited! It's time to make life about you - making you the healthiest version of you that will give you many healthy years ahead. Just think ... one day he will run into you somewhere and not even recognize you! He will regret his choice most likely eventually, but it's not about that anyway. It's about you! Become your own best friend and the pain will melt away because it's you who you need to love the most right now. Praying for you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Good Morning Dr Borland patients .... how's everyone doing? I'm losing slowly but getting close to goal, although not sure what that goal is. Just taking it a day at a time. Losing about 1 pound a week (at the most). Family telling me to stop now but my BMI is still a couple points shy of "Normal Weight". Would like to drop below and then start lifting weights. Merry Christmas everyone! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

NSV!
I'm down 40 pounds, and almost to my 1st goal. According to my BMI, I'm still considered overweight but if I don't lose another pound, I will be just as content. Had an awesome NSV last week. Was talking to a stranger outside and was shivering from the cold. I had never met this person before so they had no idea what I looked like pre-sleeve and he said "well of course your cold, you're too skinny not to be"! First time in my life I've ever been called skinny!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Maintenance
I am about 10-15 pounds from my goal and have no clue how to stop the weight loss once I get there. Never thought I'd "hear" myself utter those words!! The obvious answer is to eat more but 1) the restriction still keeps me from doing that and 2) most of the time when I eat more, I see my biggest losses. I'm not complaining, just want to prepare for this change both mentally as well as preparing for any food changes. Thoughts welcome! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
