Any other November sleevers out there?
I had my sleeve on November 9th. Doing great getting all my Protein and liquids in so far. Almost no pain at my incisions, just took Tylenol in the hospital for pain, and since. Looking forward to moving on to puree on Wednesday!

The holidays and pre-op diet
I have decided to skip heading to my parent's house for the celebration at Thanksgiving this year. I'll be on my second day of puree, and being around the feast and family favorites would be hard. It's also a 3 hour drive each way. I'm currently out of work and have appointments on Saturday and the following Monday (surgery follow-up) so I'm just not going to go.

3 months countdown initiated
Congrats on getting your date! My process turned out to be more complicated than I mentioned above, but I did get my VSG on November 9th, and am doing great so far!

All up to Insurance at this point
Congrats! I got my approval yesterday too! Looks like I'm scheduled for November 9th!

Endoscopy
I was hoping to go back to work afterwards, even though I scheduled someone to give me a ride there and back. However, I'm guessing that I'm going to have to take the whole work day off. Mine is on October 14th.

Liver reduction diet starts tomorrow.
I got assigned it for 3 weeks pre-op. Kind of started on it today, and will keep to it as much as I can. Don't have the surgery date scheduled yet though. It's Protein shake, lean meat, fruits and veggies, legumes and non starchy veggies. Plus also allows 1/2 cup portions of low fat cottage or ricotta cheese.

Approved in less than 24 hours!
Congrats! I have my last weight management meeting / class tomorrow and they'll be submitting my packet. I'm hoping to get a quick response like yours! Congrats on your next step on this path!

Incision scars !
You can also get little bottles of Vitamin E Oil - I got some and have been using it on a scar on my forehead from a small lipoma that I had removed a couple months ago. It's been really helping a lot. I got it at Target Pharmacy next to the Capsules.

Feeling discouraged!
Still pre-op, but have heard from tons and tons of people that they hit their first stall around Week 3, so that's probably where you are. They all suggest upping your Water / Protein or calories to jump start the loss again! Good luck!

Just waiting on insurance approval
I'm almost there. Have met with the surgeon and have my last Weight Management Class / Meeting next week, and I'll have my paperwork submitted for approval after that. Also have my Endoscopy scheduled for October 14th. Hope you hear back with the confirmation soon!

All up to Insurance at this point
I'm almost in the same boat. I had to get my appointments all rescheduled a couple of times, because the WLS Center lost a couple of staffers and had to move everyone around. I found that I will likely get an earlier appointment with my primary care doc to count as one of the 3 weight management appointments that are required. Which means my paperwork will be submitted in the first week of October instead of the last week of November. I'm hoping for a November or December surgery date!

Weight loss before surgery
My insurance doesn't require any weight loss during the 3 month monitored diet period, but the dietitian told me that I should lose at least 10. I'm down 2 pounds since my Welcome Group, and yesterday was my medical, dietitian and physical therapy required appointments. So the 90 days started yesterday, and will finish November 30th (approx). I was reassured that I should have no problem getting scheduled before the end of the calendar / insurance year on December 31st.

Tried cottage cheese for the first time - help me jazz it up
I like it with a little bit of garlic salt (California blend with a little parsley), or with some dried dill.

Traveling with Supplements & Protein Powder
They usually want you to put that stuff in the clear zip-lock so that they can see it as you go through security. I have traveled with gel Protein supplements before, and lots of pill supplements in mini-snack bags, and that was fine. I did create a printed list of all the supplement types I was carrying with me.

Prosper Loans
I have had two loans through Prosper and both were funded within a couple days. The first one was a few thousand dollars to consolidate credit cards while I was unemployed. Had a fairly high interest rate on that one. The second one I got for a few thousand to pay off some medical bills. Maybe provide more details about why you want it?

Not a bad but maybe so bad swimmer
I used to do Water aerobics at a local HS Pool a few times a week. I just started back to exercising in anticipation of getting my surgery in October or November. What I'm doing right now is walking laps in the pool, or using a kickboard to go back and forth. I'm also doing push-ups against the wall of the pool to get some work on my arms, without having to carry all my weight on them. Most gyms and community centers have water exercise classes, so you might look for those. Last night I did a couple laps with a pool noodle under my arms in order to keep me more buoyant while paddling back and forth.

To Join or Not To Join. That is my question.
Depending on where you are, there are options for discounted memberships. Last year I got a two year package for 24 Hour Fitness for a total of about $315 which lowers the monthly cost to $13.00 or so. Mine allows me to go to any "Sport" location, but not the "Super Sport" ones. I got it through costco, and bought it online.

Why can't the fat just disappear everyday?

November surgery.. anyone else?
I'm most likely looking at a November date too. Had my Welcome Group meeting last week, and have my 5 appointments that the surgeon requires set in August (2 on August 11th and 3 on August 16th.) Then i will have two Weight Management Appointments, one in September and the 2nd on October 7th. Following that, they will submit my paperwork to my insurance. I already have confirmation that my insurance will cover the surgery if I meet their requirements. Looking forward to having energy and stamina again. Back in 2010, I lost about 70 lbs doing the Metabolic Research Center (MRC) Diet, but gradually put back 100 pounds. When I was at my lower weight then, I was working out 4-6 days a week, and working with a personal trainer. I want to get back to that, without carrying around an extra 180 pounds!

Cigna... Denial question
I'm currently fighting a smaller denial with CIGNA. They are trying to charge me $78 for the initial welcome group meeting for the Bariatric Program, saying that it was not a direct one-on-one appointment with a doctor. I've asked the clinic for a recode, and discovered that I can have CIGNA send it for a recode / review if the clinic doesn't change the coding. If neither of those work, I've prepared a 20 page packet for my appeal of the denial. Includes the paperwork from the clinic, my doctor's referral to the program etc. Good luck in getting yours cleared up! I WAS able to confirm that the surgery itself IS covered under my policy, so hopefully when I'm finished with all my appointments (by October 8th) they will approve the procedure for me.

3 months countdown initiated
I'm in roughly the same boat for timing. I also have CIGNA and had my Welcome Group meeting last Tuesday and went to a surgeon led surgical seminar on Thursday night. I've got all my appointments scheduled between August and October. The program that I'm going through likes to do sets of appointments in blocks, so I've got two on August 11th and 3 on August 16th, then two weight management appointments on September and October 7th. The nurse coordinator said that having a NUT and PT appointment in the same month will count as my weight management one for August. I already had a sleep study a couple years ago and have submitted the medical results with my program application. Hoping to get approved shortly after the last one on October 7th, for late October or November surgery, as I've already met my deductible for the year and am nearing the out of pocket max for the year, so would be great to get it done prior to year end!
