  1. You are be no means alone! I'm 11 days out and I just really really want to chew and feel food in my mouth. My mushies start Monday but I'm thinking maybe I'll start a day or two sooner....don't beat yourself up or buy into any shaming. You're human!
  2. well....i'm not so much into heels and such....but i do love to ride motorcycles and favorite my ridin' boots became very uncomfortable when the weight started packing on. It will be so cool to be able to wear them again, and my favorite riding leathers...actually, I just can't wait to be able to swing my leg over the damn bike and go for a ride without feeling like a hog on a hawg! lol
  3. Oh my! Every single word I've read on this post is ME!!!! I've been banded one week today and I feel like I could eat a horse! I've been thinking maybe something was wrong, the band's not on there right or something. I am soooo glad to know I'm not alone!!! Also, I'm home from work and watching alot of tv and come to the conclusion they should make them stop food commercials like they did cigarette commercials! I want everything.....there's this one commercial for a brownie crumble iced coffee with whipped cream from Tim Horton's that is driving me nuts because I can almost justify it as being a liquid! lol All in all tho' this is good....I've lost like 15 lbs w/pre-op and post-op and that's what I wanted. The bloating is not as bad and actually I feel pretty good.
  4. I liked your post too PearlyGirl and I was also banded this past week on 4/21!....we're doing the best thing for ourselves. I have found this forum helps to balance out any unintentional negatives from friends and come here often. Thanks for sharing your letter!
  5. I was banded 4/21 too! I'm not feeing as bad as I thought I would at this point, just a little tender around the incisions. Going to the bathroom is weird, all the watery poop w/gas. But I guess that's due to all the liquid. I am starting full liquids today and lemon yogurt never tasted so good! It did take awhile to eat, but I was able to eat it all. I sort of wonder if the band is there (but I know it is) - I thought I'd get full by about half way thru. The hard part is not drinking while eating.
  6. gasx strips doesn't help me w/regular gas - i haven't been banded yet (monday yay!) but i was going out shopping today to be prepared for next week and possibly look for something to help
  7. I have UHC and did not have to do the 6 mos dr supervised diet. My bmi is over 40 and I do have co-morbidities. My surgeon's office said I would need to provide medical history for the past 5 yrs to show that I have been overweight and mine only went back 3 yrs because I went for a long period of time with no pcp.....I was worried that it would either delay my approval or require me to jump thru some other hoop, but they approved me in less than a week. I work with several people that are either going to have wls or already have had wls....our company offers both uhc and bcbs....the people w/uhc are having a much easier time getting approved. My surgery is not until Monday the 21st but from what I understand I will be paying $1000-$1500 out of pocket total. I'm sure it will be the best money I've ever spent.
  8. I think Airborne might be an herbal supplement and my sugeon specifically states not to use herbal supplements for a period of time before surgery. I would call the Dr to see what they think.
  9. My Dr tried to discourage me the first few times I mentioned WLS to her. At one point I thought she was trying to keep me from having it done by not filling out paperwork I left for her as quickly as I thought she should have. She has suggested several times to try and do it on my own - I have...and I know how that turns out. Then once I told her what my desicion was and that I was planning to do this, she became very supportive.
  10. Hey BandedTam...I think I will be having my surgery the same week as you at DBC. My insurance approved on Weds. of this week and I should be hearing from the scheuling person today. Like you, I'm ready to get this show on the road....I just cannot stop thinking about this and how things will be months from now. There are so many things I used to love to do that I let my weight stop me from today. I feel like I've been blessed by having insurance and the opportunity to do this. I know it will add years to my life as well as life to my years and looking better is just an xtra benefit. I can't wait!
  11. I've been wondering about PB also....I sort of got a definition of sliming but could not figure out the PB....also thanks for mentioning the thread regarding abbreviations...I'm going there now - this is the most wonderful forum...I'm so grateful for all of you on here!!
  12. I'm in Dayton, Ohio....going thru Dayton Bariatric - hopefully in April. It's been 1 week since they submitted everything to UHC. I'm anxious to get this show on the road!
  13. Thanks for the info Bea.....I called UHC today and they got the paperwork Friday, so it's being processed. (yay!) I'm just so anxious and am being impatient...it's funny - since I've made the decision to do this it is all I can think about! I've got a couple friends at work going thru the process that I talk to thruout the day and then I get on here the second I get home and again before bedtime....I feel like a kid waiting to get their driver's license or something! lol
  14. Get back into riding motorcycles, take my 4 yr old granddaughter to the zoo, the fair, etc... without getting winded, take my dog to the dog park to play, be more social and spontaneous, work in my yard and not be embaressed to wear shorts & tank top in the front yard! buy new clothes....the things I would feel more comfortable doing w/o this xtra 100+ lbs...the list would be endless!! LOL
  15. I'm hoping insurance will approve shortly so we can schedule in April.....Lynne...I noticed in your signature you went back & forth w/UHC to get approved. What sort of run around was UHC giving you? I have UHC.
  16. I'm hoping to have my surgery date soon, just waiting on insurance approval. Some people at work know and the really cool thing is that most of the ones that know are doing it also or have already had it done! 5 or 6 of us are doing the lap band and one is doing rny....I didn't really want it to be public information, but I'm sure the cat will get outta the bag in no time. I know there will be those that judge...but I figure if that's what they're about they're probably already judging me for being fat anyway. I try not to let things like that bother me...I figure what could I do about it anyway?! lol....I just know this is the best thing I can do for me and that's the most important thing.
  17. I like cottage cheese, pineapple, cool whip. I guess you could use pineapple juice for now tho.
  18. LOL...Way to go Trim....lose weight, save money and protect the environment! Talk about multi-tasking!!! I'm grateful for this forum - aren't you? I read so much good stuff here every day. I can't wait to be scheduled....I know this is the right decision for me.
  19. Hello MyNuLife aka "Trim" to me....I'm enjoying reading everything on this site - it makes me know we have made a good decision here. I'm really grateful for our insurance as well, I was in "chat" earlier and heard people talking about having to pay cash and even go out of the country to do this - we are soooo lucky! Talking about added travel expenses even to go for a fill! I'm looking forward to getting to know others on this site. Talk to you soon, your ol' buddy Slim:)
  20. Hi Jewels....I noticed in another post that you were going thru Dayton Bariatric....I am too! I was also surprised in reading on this one that you went to the slide presentation on 2/14 since I went to that also! I was originally shceduled for 2/12 and we had such awful weather it was postponed. I have an appt w/Dr Bruce 2/28 and hopefully after visiting a nutriitonist 2/29 all the footwork will be done. When I started researching lap band after the first of the year I found great info, but most of the before/after stories were by people that had RNY. A friend at work that was banded by Dr Bruce told me of this site and I am so very grateful! The more I read on this site, the more confident I am that this is the right choice for me.
  21. Hi all! I'm from Ohio too and like another person on here, will be going thru the Dayton Bariatric Center. Hopefully I will be scheduled sometime in March or April. Right now I'm doing all the footwork that's required and by the end of the upcoming week I should have all my appointments done and a tentative surgery date. I'm really anxious to get this done. I have a few friends at work that have had it done w/great results so far. Also another friend at work that is going thru this step by step w/me and that helps also. This is a great website as so many others are mostly RNY patients and while we're going for the same results, I was wanting to hear more from people that have been banded. I know this will add years to my life as well as quality to my life....I just can't wait!
