    Adenomyosis

Hi. I don't post here much but I too had adenomyosis and had a hysterectomy. I also had pcos, endometriosis, and fibroids. I would be happy to chat about my experience.
  2. 21 months out this month and the body image/realization of my size has been the toughest part.
  3. My doctor's plan allowed for eggs immediately post op, so I had a few bites of scrambled eggs the day after surgery.
  4. PCOSer who had a hysterectomy (only removed one ovary) here. so many odds were against me. I'll be two months out in August. You can go back through my post history to see my response to another thread about PCOS that includes more details. I hit my goal weight at 9 months out and continued to lose and am down 95 pounds. Currently maintaining but may see if I can get another 5-10 off. I've had immense improvements in my PCOS symptoms, as well as overall health. Best of luck to you on your journey!

    Sports Bras

Which VS sports bra do you have? I really like the front hook one that also has a zipper cover over it. It's pretty solid.

    Wrinkled bag stomach

I'll be 24 months out in August and some days it looks better than others. I can definitely tell a difference when looking what few progressive pictures I have.

    Olympics, Curling

Watched and I also play as often as I can. Burns up a ton of calories and is so much fun.

    Pain in tailbone

I am 16 months out. Mine drove me nuts til somewhere around the year mark and now I don't notice it as much. Some days I don't have a problem at all.

    Humble Brag

Way to go @brightfaith! You sound like you are setting yourself up for great success. I hope your journey goes well. I'm 16 months out but remember trying to slog through those pre-op appointments. Hang in there. You got this.
  10. Fire that doc and find a new one. Your body, your health. You have the right to get the best care for you, and it doesn't sound like that doctor is giving you that.
  11. At worst, you'll be more confident! That wasn't an issue for me as I have always been very confident and social. I think the hardest part with the process for me is trying to make people understand that I didn't change on the inside, in spite of the dramatic change on the outside. Plus even over a year out, I still haven't mentally realized what my outside actually looks like. I don't feel like I lost "me". "Me" just comes in a different package now.

    Weight loss rate with pcos

I have PCOS (every symptom you can think of) and had a hysterectomy almost 10 years ago with subsequent removal of one ovary later and was also ahead of the curve in my loss. My doctor said it's not unusual for PCOS patients to lose slower but it doesn't mean that they won't be as successful as any other patient in their weight loss journey.

Not buying new clothes till at goal.

I went the thrift store route as well and still do as I'm not sure if I will lose more or not (1 year out). I wanted to add in here that I feel strongly you should have a few things that fit well. As a WLS patient, we already have an uphill battle with our body image. My husband and best friend both really pushed me to have at least one outfit that fit fairly well so that I could see myself in my transition and smaller sizes. I know that can be hard, as sometimes you skip sizes all together on your way to goal weight. Once I took their advice, my self image definitely improved. Just something to think about.
  14. Thank you, @gamergirl for sharing your blog. The recipes just made my day!!! I can't wait to share the link with others.
  15. I'm just over a year out. I generally avoid carbonated drinks. It's not painful, but it's just mildly uncomfortable and it seems to take up alot of room in my stomach. Some of the drinks do taste different to me since having surgery as well.
  16. Before surgery, my cup size was an DDD/E. I'm now down to a D and think I will probably go lower. My current sports bra is by Wacoal. I like it well enough, but would love to know more about your experiences with other brands. What do you like? What works? Any brand or style that you absolutely hated?
  17. Did anyone else have spatial/manueverability issues too? I am continually misjuding my size in relation to other objects and/or thinking I have more "padding" than I actually do. My legs are beat up from running into things.
  18. I will be a year out in a few days and this is still a huge issue for me. I can not wrap my mind around it. It's better than it was a few months ago, but my brain isn't fully on board with what my body now looks like.

    1 year...

You look fantastic and look like you feel great. Congratulations on your loss, and best wishes on your future goals.
  20. Who is your carrier? My insurance didn't seem too concerned with anything other than me having a 35 or over BMI with co-morbities for the previous 2 years.
  21. Hi all. I am in my final phase prior to insurance approval for VSG in August. I was diagnosed with PCOS in my early 20s. I had a hysterectomy due to endometriosis and adenomyosis in 2009 at age 34 , then my left ovary removed in 2012. They left what I consider a "garbage" ovary. It's temperamental and cystic bit seems to work well enough that I don't have to take hormones. Would likes to hear more from those who have had hysterectomy or oopherectomy (ovary removal) and their experience losing weight with VSG. Thanks! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T817A using Tapatalk

    Where are you now?

My one year is 8/30. My surgery weight was 232 and my current weight is between 142-144. I am 5'7". I hit goal (150) in mid-May. I wear a 4/6 or small/xs/xxs depending on the cut. If I lose more, great. If not, great. I thought I was maintaining at 150, but lost a few pounds
  23. Thrift stores/resale shops are your best bet. I went from a 16/18 to a 4/6 in 9 months post-op. Thrift stores were the only way I could afford to keep up with the rapid changes. I recommend shopping on sale days for even better deals. I tried to anticipate sizes and shop ahead, and still had things I didn't get to wear because I blew past the size so quickly. I never paid more than 8.00 for a pair of jeans, so it wasn't a huge loss and they could be donated back,

    Meaty Meltdown

Elk, ostritch, and buffalo when I can afford them. I was never a huge chicken fan and it seems to 'sit heavy' when I eat it so I don't do much of that. We do alot of shredded pork and beef pot roast though. Steak and tuna steaks also sits heavy, but I still eat it! Crab, lobster, and cod are my go to seafood choices. I can definitely get more of those down than beef or pork.

Who else is dying of thirst!!!!!

I am the same way since the day of surgery (8/30/16). From the time I get up to the time I shut my eyes, I am always thirsty. Like @hmills653, not all water tastes the same or even good to me. Gum and mints provide a little relief and allow me to change things up. I don't have a good solution for you, but wanted to let you know that you're not alone, @southernbellair79.
