  1. Thanks for your reply! ???? Are you on your pre-op diet now too or have you already had your surgery done? I was thinking of doing Protein shakes as meal replacers (which we're allowed to go too) and then eating a low carb/high protein dinner. What shakes do you use? Thanks again! 2. I'm right there with you. I'm just a message away if you need to talk, and will definitely hold you in my prayers and thoughts. It's normal to be anxious and second guess your choice. I'm doing it right now, but as everyone (who has had bariatric surgery) told me, "You'll be so glad you did it when you're done recovering." Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App I was going to say the same thing! (If you're not anxious, then I'd be a little concerned.) COMPLETELY NORMAL! 3. Well, I got my clearance from all my pre-op testing yesterday, and my approval from the insurance company the beginning of last week, so this is it! July 25th is the date! (which what it was set for, but getting the clearance/approval made it all so surreal.) I'm feeling excited, nervous, happy, anxious, ecstatic, and scared out of my mind! I spoke with my surgeon about my fears and anxieties, and he helped reassure me that it is completely normal to be anxious. As I was leaving my final (pre-op) appointment, he said "I'll see you in the pre-op room before surgery." I have one more appointment on the 14th for normal blood work. Okay, sorry for rambling! I start my pre-op diet on Monday, the 11th. I'm not on a liquid diet until the last 48 hrs before surgery. My pre-op diet is pretty much the bariatric diet; very low carbs, little to no sugars, lean meats, Protein, veggies and fruit. I will be meal planning tomorrow and heading to the grocery store on Sunday. Any recommendations on what I should pick up (aside from the obvious) and/or high protein/low fat/low carb/little to no sugar recipes? Breakfast? lunch? dinner? As always, thanks in advance! Went to the local health store, and bought all my Vitamins tonight too. I was excited just buying the vitamins; I know it must sound silly, but I'm so excited and beyond thankful for this. 5. Yes, that's what my doctor was saying as well as when some pills are crushed, the potency can change, and I may not be able to take my 3 medications together in the morning; I may have to wait a few hours between them. Thank you! Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App
  6. Thank you so much!????I just realized I have examples in my binder that show the sizes of tablets, soft gels, and capsules you're allowed to swallow, and it also says nothing bigger than a regular sized Tylenol. Thank Goodness I'm not on time released medication. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App Thank you! Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App
  7. Frankly, I didn't have any issue taking my meds starting the day after surgery. I know everyone has a different experience, but for me it wasn't a big deal.Thank you for your response! I'm hoping I don't either, I just want to be funny prepared for a "just in case." Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App fully* Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App
  8. What do you mix them with? or do you just let them dissolve in your mouth? Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App
  9. Hi everyone! I'm scheduled to be sleeved July 25th. I'm on three different daily meds; Lisinopril (for high bp,) Celexa (for anxiety/depression,) and Klonopin (as needed for anxiety/panic attacks.) I know during my recovery post-op, some meds are difficult to swallow. I did speak to my nutritionist about this, and she recommended asking my doctor if my medications come either in dissolvable forms or liquid. My doctor said to speak with my pharmacist which I'm planning to do, but I wanted to ask here if anyone had trouble taking their daily meds and/or pain meds after surgery and during your recovery period? As always, thanks in advance. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App
  10. I'm not from Texas, but I have the same sleeve date as you, as well as the same pre-op diet date. I'm in PA. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App
  11. Thank you so much! I met with the dietician yesterday while I was at my appointment with the social worker. Oh, and I figured out how to check messages lol. Thanks again! 13. Congratulations!!! You look GORGEOUS! (you did in your before picture too) ???? I am so happy you were given this life changing gift, you've worked so, so hard! Happiness is written all over your face! Happy belated Birthday!???????? Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App
  14. My surgery is scheduled for July 25th, and so far the only people who know are my fiance, two close friends (one who has had bariatric surgery,) my ex-husband (he'll be watching my kids while I'm in the hospital and for a few days after,) and my brothers and sister. Reading what you went through is exactly why I decided to only tell my close family members and a couple friends. The judgement and ridicule my friend went through was unnecessary, cruel, and horrible, and as you stated, I'm also very hard on myself so I don't need the extra scrutiny. Thank you so much for sharing this; it explains exactly why I didn't choose to share with everyone. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App
  15. I'm scheduled for July 25th for my gastric sleeve. Is anyone else scheduled for the 25th and/or near there? My question(s) tonight is-- for those who have already had the surgery done and/or are one the clear diet, what did you consume? My surgeon requires being on a 48 hr clear diet before surgery. I know I could have Jello, chicken broth, cranberry/apple juice, basically anything clear. Does anyone have suggestions of other things I can consume? What I really need suggestions for is my post-op diet. What are the best things to consume post-op that are filled with Protein? How long was it until you could even try a solid? I know everyone is different, and responds differently to foods, but I'd love to hear from others. I met with the nutritionist, but she didn't go over much regarding post-op other than I should be taking sips of Water every 15 minutes. Thank you in advance! -Laura P.S. I'm new to this site, and I'm still learning to use this app. This may sound like a silly question, but how do I check my private messages? Someone messaged me last night, and now I can't find it to respond lol. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App
  16. Thank you so much, everyone for your kind words and encouragement. As you stated, this is an elective, life changing surgery. I went to a seminar and met someone this evening who is 6 months post-op and 140 lbs down. He spoke a lot of his own anxiety before surgery and it helped a lot. I'm sure I'll be posting closer to surgery regarding my nerves. LOL Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App
  17. I'm new to this site. I literally just joined a few minutes ago. I have had GAD (generalized anxiety disorder,) panic disorder, and agoraphobia since I was 13. I am now 30. My anxiety (with meds) is relatively a lot better, but the closer i get to my surgery date (7/25/16) the more anxiety I feel. I am so scared of death and complications from the surgery. I've had 3 c-sections, a hysterectomy, an oophorectomy, and sinus surgery. I'm no stranger to surgery, but the vsg is scaring the crap out of me, and although I was nervous before all of my surgeries, this one scares me the most. I know that with each surgery comes risks, and complications that can occur. However, I can't stop reading horror stories (I know, stay off Google.) Has anyone had severe anxiety about this surgery and if so, how are you handling the anxiety? Thanks in advance, and I'm so happy to be here! Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App
