  6. Oh, I hope it doesn't create an issue for you. How do they find out if it will or not? I have requested my surgical records to be sent to the WLS surgeon. I have all my pre-op appointments on the 15th. Hopefully I'll find out on the 15th when I meet with the surgeon. A lot depends on the type of mesh they used for the hernia repair. (Certain meshes allowed the intestines to adhere to the mesh (adhesions)). I'm also prepared to not find out for certain till I wake up from surgery. I'll be okay with either surgery as long as I can get one of them! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. RNY if the umbilical hernia repair from several years ago doesn't create an issue! Otherwise it will be the sleeve. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  14. I'm 50 and scheduled for November 30th! If my insurance would have covered WLS prior to this year, I'd have gotten it done much sooner. Now it's finally going to happen! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  16. I have been approved and given November 30th for my surgery date. I go for all the pre op work on the 15th and also find out how long and what to do on the pre-op diet. 17 pounds will put me below the BMI! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. I haven't had my surgery yet, but know several people who have had their surgery at St. Mary's Hospital and have spoken very favorably of the surgeon team. I will be having Dr. Carmody when I get approved (thinking positively!). Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I can't tell you what to do, but can only speak on myself. I have been very successful in losing weight several times throughout my life losing around 100 pounds to only gain it back. Since February I have lost 60 pounds with the Mediterranean diet and walking. I've had those same thoughts myself about continuing to diet and not moving forward with the surgery. I will be getting the surgery because I know my track record and want to utilize the tools (WLS) provides to help me be successful for the rest of my life. 19. I am currently waiting for insurance approval (fingers are crossed), but I know I would go by what my surgeon recommended to heal properly and to avoid unnecessary complications. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. It depends on each persons body type and size (Fluid retention can also play a significant role). I wouldn't compare your results to others, but 4 pounds in one week is a lot. I'm pre op, so certainly don't have the experience of the pre op diet yet, but know it will be coming. Your doing great and congratulations, your almost to the post op side! 21. I'm in Chesterfield County and will have Dr. Carmody as my surgeon. I have one more meeting with the nutritionist, Jenna, and then everything can be submitted for insurance approval!! I've wanted this surgery for several years, but our insurance didn't cover it. Now it's finally happening!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Sorry for your loss. Your father would be so proud of you and want you to keep going on the path you started. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
