  1. You might consider also posting this in the recipes section
  2. I found a low-fat pumpkin soup I plan to make tomorrow, in keeping with the season. http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/recipes/pumpkin-soup/rcp-20049697
  3. I'm 11 days post op and I'm doing really well but worrying about everything. Is my pureed pureed enough? Did I eat too fast? Did I drink too much liquid at once (I can down almost a cup with no issues)? Have I stretched my sleeve or damaged my sutures...Yes I relate! I like to think I'm just being a worrywart and that everything is fine
  4. That's the original broth and that's what I do I couldn't stomach packaged stuff either.
  5. Congrats @@Andreaj2003! This site has a store with lots of Vitamin options.
  6. Novelty
  7. I down a one-cup Protein shake (1/2 serving of powder in milk and/or Water in a one-cup container). I forget I'm sleeved and I down it in a couple of minutes. I do it without even thinking and I have no issues. I'm 11 days post-op. Am I stretching my sleeve? I'm anxious because protecting the size of my sleeve is higher priority to me than the weight-loss. If I protect the sleeve, the weight loss is bound to happen.
  8. Wow @@kmorri! You should be so pleased with yourself! Wonderful transformation
  9. I've only been slightly hungry one evening for a couple of hours, but since my caloric intake was so low I just sipped some more Soup.
  10. I also did Dr. Bernstein years ago and wish I'd kept on top of the slow creep back up. I'm 10 days post surgery and it's the best decision I ever made. I'm not hungry much at all and I get full fast. Yes I've heard it's possible to sabotage with this, but I the way I feel about it is that I've been given this amazing opportunity and so I want to protect it my investment. It's still going to be work but it's like climbing a hill instead of Mt. Everest with this tool so far. Also the thing that finalised my decision is the depressing stats about how low the percentage is of people who keep weight off long term through diet and exercise. The stats are much, much better for WLS patients including VSG. You will find examples of people who regain and sabotage and you will find many examples of success. Statistically the odds are in your favour for success with the surgery. You just have to do your part.
  11. Check out the recipes section. You'll start to get ideas of how to make variations on your favorite foods. I just made a variation on mexican food tonight (recipe posted). You may want to add Beans, pureed beef, etc, to your diet for more variety. One of the ways I'll get variety is through the seasonings.
  12. I'm day 10 and have been having no issues either. Like you I was wondering if there's something wrong if that it's too easy. Did they cut enough off, etc. My nurse reassured me, so now I'm grateful it's been smooth so far, though I know it may not always be. I love not being hungry and I love getting full fast.
  13. Hi All, I was missing Mexican and so I did a variation on the tex mex recipes I've seen. It's mostly pureed but a tiny bit thick. The one tiny 'cheat' is I added a sprinkle of tex-mex cheese mix. It's not as much as it seems in the picture, maybe because it hadn't melted down yet. One of my time savers is to precook my ground beef (and my chicken, etc), puree once cooked then freeze. Then I can quickly assemble ready-made meals. I really love using my tiny mason jars as my 4 oz portion control. If I finish what's in it, I'm full. They make great tiny serving dishes in the early days. Since my top priority is to avoid stretching my sleeve, this keeps me honest. Prep time: 2 minutes Serves: 1 Calories: 175 Carbs: 9 Fat: 10 Protein: 14 Sodium: 139 Layer in a 1/2 cup mason jar: 2 oz refried beans (I used Old El Paso) 1 oz of pre-cooked, pureed lean ground beef 1 oz of thin, pureed salsa (I used Old El Paso) A tiny sprinkle of jack or tex mex mix cheese. (I used Kraft) Microwave 1-1.5 minutes Variations: If I had sour cream in the house I may have added a teaspoon of that on top of the salsa, then the cheese. If I had some avocados or guac, I may have put a teaspoon of that. I was able to detemine the nutrition info by plugging in my recipe into Myfitnesspal. It's a great tool for that. Tell me if you try it and if you like it Michelle
  14. Not soft, mashed foods, but pureed. I'm wondering when you all started on them. I started on day 8 (yesterday) first just applesauce in addition to my liquids and thinned strained soups.
  15. I had my surgery 6 days ago. Days 3 and especially 4, I was very emotional and moody. I chalked it up to the trauma of surgery and the after-effects of the anesthesia and pain meds. It will pass.
  16. Learning the stats around how few keep weight off in the long term. Odds are higher with VSG.
  17. Hey @@ChocolateDropp7 I was wondering how things went for you this week! Happy to hear you're well. I taking a week longer, but I could honestly go back next week and feel find I think. Soo it will be some nice downtime anyway @@turtle5569 - I had a hard time coughing too. I had to hold a pillow against my belly then I could do it.
  18. Yeah, I was told to take them when I get home. I started the b12, calcium, vit D plus that multivitamin daily patch. I was told to only start the vitamins after the first week. That's coming soon though!
  19. Happy to hear you're both recovering and managing as well @@DesertWarrior - The gas has been bad for me as well, though better today it seems. @ - Lucky you're already on protein shakes! I have to wait another 2-3 days apparently, but meanwhile I'm savoring my broths.
  20. I thought I'd start a thread for those of us September sleevers who already are post surgery! I know there were a few others in addition to myself this week. My surgery was the 6th. The first two days was non-stop nausea. The other two ladies that got sleeved by Dr. Michel Gagner that day with me did not suffer from nausea. At least that phase seems to be over for me. The second day was painful. Every movement hurt, but as long as I stayed on top of pain meds it was manageable. I'm off pain meds today (was on them for 3 days including surgery day). I'm not sure if that's typical, but I think it would be very normal if anyone that needs to be on them much longer. I was given a several day supply that I hope might sit unused. I might have gotten lucky on that topic. I am able to sip a bit more clear fluids than I was the first couple of days. No more gurgling, feeling like I'm going to vomit then it turns into a burp instead! I've also been sleeping a lot and that's ok. Looking forward to starting full fluids including Protein next week, then purees! Oh and driving again! How are all the rest of you feeling? Hope everyone is managing in these first few days. I know it will get easier for all of us . I hope we can all support each other through both the good positive updates and the more challenging times. Shell
