  1. Hey everyone...I thought I'd share the rest of my sleeve story. So I was sleeved July 6, 2016. I thought I was doing well the first two weeks...until I went back to work. By then I was on the puree phase but barely taking that step forward. It started with chest pain, then left shoulder pain, then the vomiting of foam and sometimes bile...it was awful. After going back and forth to the hospital, my doctors decided ok no more anything through the mouth. Lol I was miserable for 3 weeks of getting nutrition through a catheter in my arm all because of a hernia repair that was keeping liquids from going down successfully. I did nothing wrong. Finally, I'm back to normal able to go on dates with my fiance, eat normally...well normally for us lol...and most important I published my first book! Life is good for me now that I'm over that discouraging hurdle. 3 weeks ago I was down 40lbs, I get weighed again in 2 1/2 weeks...I'm one of those people that refuse to get on the scale in case I get mad and throw it across the room lol. Ok that's enough rambling...have a great day everyone! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

  3. I had my sleeve done July 6, so 3 weeks Post-op. I went to the ER yesterday after doctors advice from having sharp painful chest pains and shortness of breath. After a slew of tests thankfully there was nothing wrong with heart or lungs and I'm healing as expected. However my kidneys were inflamed so I was sent home with liquid antibiotics. I took it this morning 30 minutes after my Water based Protein drink, but threw it up. Any suggestions on keeping the meds down. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  4. So I just had the sleeve and let me tell you I was a cranky woman in the hospital and first day home. The bubbling is so annoying but a friend told me to double up on antacid meds and that really helped. I find myself peeing quite often during the night as if I needed another reason to not be able to sleep. I'm so scared to cough, burp or laugh. Also I can't tell if I'm having hunger pains or what but this liquid thing is so boring I cannot wait to puree. I'm just really anxious to get back to normal even though I know that's a mile away...thank God for my fiance cause his encouragement helps me tremendously. Wow you're walking that far! Good for you...my doctor said not to go anywhere near that until he says so. Keep up the good work! Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App Don't want to risk blood clots. I had my procedure done at an outpatient facility and only received 1 shot before surgery for them. The walking really helps with the pain in my stomach and help releases gas. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App Wow you only got one blood thinner shot? How long did you stay in hospital? I was in the hospital for two days and they made me drink on the last day or they weren't going to release I got that bloo thinner shot at least 5 times. Wow congrats on the weight loss...my first week appointment is Thursday so I can't wait to see how much I've lost. I won't know when I start the purees until I see the doctor but girl that has not kept me from looking at some puree recipes . Have you been light headed at all? Or started all your Vitamins? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App Thank you! My first week appointment is Thursday too! And noo I feel you, I have found so many recipes that I'm ready to try and share! Actually I have had to force myself to eat. I have not felt hungry at all or lightheaded . I can't lie it's been hard being in a household with a mom who is a chef and always cooking and I can't try her stuff lol. The only vitamins I have been on so far are Iron, Vitamin D and B12 since I needed those prior to surgery for being anemic . I should know more about vitamins on Thursday ! I'm excited to hear and update from you . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Wow we're definitely sleeve buddies! Let me know how your appointment goes Thursday. ???? The gas bubbles were ridiculous so I doubled up on antacid meds that helped majorly. I also had a problem with my breast being so heavy so I keep a pillow against my chest lifting them up for now. Are you taking small sips? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

I totally feel your pain girl! I was sleeved on 7/5. I'm on clear liquids only for two weeks . And then full liquids . I won't be on purees until 8/2 . I'm so excited for our journeys and how we do! We are now sleeve sisters! I'm down 17.4 pounds since surgery last Tuesday which I can't lie startled me at first because I didn't think it would be so rapid. I was so scared to cough the first day because everything was so sensitive but I noticed that applying pressure with a pillow and heating pad or ice pack made it soooo much better! You should definitely try it ! I hope you stay active on here , I'll enjoy seeing your transformation. New Surgery Date!

  13. Hi everyone, Camille from NJ and new to this forum. So, I was supposed to have surgery on the 13th of this month but after pre testing, my sed (inflammation) rate was well above normal????. Now, my primary knows I have hidradenitis which is in fact an inflammatory skin disease....hellleerrr????...but still I had to see a rheumatologist and dermatologist just so they can tell me what I already know to get cleared. Has anyone gone through something similar? Now the new date is July 7 at Mountainside with Strom and Fresco but it's hard for me to get excited again because of the setback. Unsupportive family

Sumaire, maybe she's scared and unable to closet her concern. Have you tried talking to her about this? I'm sorry that some of you aren't getting the support you deserve...thank goodness there are forums and groups because this can't be done without some sort of support. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App I've tried discussing it with her multiple times, but she refuses to listen. At this point, I've reminded her that at the same time, my hernia (which was discovered during my GI series) will be repaired, and that will reduce my blood sugar to non pre diabetic levels (where they are now) and reduce, if not eliminate my GERD. Also, not having to carry around the equivalent of four 40 pound bags of dog food on my body all the time will help my knees to stop degenerating quite so quickly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Well that's all you can do. She should respect your wishes and treat you like you're not only her mother but smart, capable, logical woman. I'm sorry you have to endure that. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Scared

Thank you :-) I'm really glad that you have a supportive fiance. Last year my partner was more scared and not as supportive. Mainly because she was worried that I would come out unhappy because of the loose skin. She was also worried because she had family members who became really sick after having the surgery. But this go-round I'm going to have her go to the support groups with me and ask the questions that she has. I know she loves me I know she supports me I think she's just scared like I am. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App Understandable...have you considered you both going to that appointment? May ease your fears. Follow your doctor's Post-op guidelines to the letter and your chances of getting sick will be low...that's what my nutritionist has drilled into my head Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Scared

Becca, I'm not going to lie, I had all the same concerns. I also decided on the sleeve...here's what I did. On your first appointment with the surgeon, have a list of questions, talk about your concerns, all of them that's what he/she is there for. I had to do 6 months of nutrition counseling which I thought was great so you're not going in blind. The main goal is for you to be healthy. I haven't had my surgery yet, it's scheduled for 7/6, but remember by losing some of the weight you'll be able to work out and tone up...if you have excess skin there's always plastic surgery but don't let that be your determining factor. All you'll need is the right support and you'll be fine....at least that's what my fiance keeps telling me. ???? Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

Who the hell do you think you are?

I haven't experienced that personally yet. Everyone in my circle has been more than supportive...but I'm positive when someone I don't know decides to tell me what they think I will be all too pleased to show them where they can shove it!
