  1. I had surgery at 10am on Monday, 27 June and was on my way home at 1pm Tuesday. I was up walking on Monday, and my catheter was removed in recovery- also no drain for me. I was very lucky in all facets of this surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I am on puréed foods (week 2 post op according to my doctor) and am enjoying it much more than I thought. I love chicken but heard it would be an issue and my nutritionist suggested canned chicken and it works well. I'm a fairly good cook so I'm trying to be creative. Like my new puréed chili- I cooked a roast in the crock pot, so I use 1.5 oz beef, an oz white Beans, a couple spoons of no sugar added marinara and a 1/2 teaspoon lite sour cream on top. It's a bit filling and the first day I ate too much but I won't make that mistake again!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. My doctor works with one who, on preop day did a baseline metabolism test, BMI via some cool machines with some other things I don't understand but I am excited to see him throughout this next year to see how my metabolism becomes more efficient. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I'm sorry you are going through this, I didn't have any problem with the liquid diet. I thought I would but 2 days into it I was surprised about how easy it was and how good I felt. I am now 10 days post surgery and in on phase 2/puréed foods until next Tuesday when I progress again. Every step is worth it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. They actually called phenergan in for me and it worked well. I am getting all my fluids and Vitamins and ready for puréed foods to begin next Tuesday!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Six months is pretty accurate. Cigna required a 3 month supervised diet but I've seen some on here- a lot who had a 6 month requirement so it all depends on that. Just don't wait to do any other testing. When you begin the diet do the rest of your testing requirements right away. Then you will be ready to get your surgery date when the diet info is submitted. 7. I have Cigna through work Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Candicane- yay I think we were meant to meet on here. I had a Pekingese born on Christmas and her name was candy cane! Good luck with everything as you start the process. Are you going to Dr Kim at Celebration hospital? He and his entire team is amazing! I love them all and love the passion he truly has for helping us become thinner and healthier. His support groups are great too- lots to learn. I am now 4 days postop and feeling good. I'm getting my fluids in and the only thing that bothers me is seeing somebody drinking a Diet Coke! Haha! The process feels long but believe me, once I had my cardiac, psych evaluation, and 3-month supervised diet (I used dr Kim's nutritionist) my patient advocate got Cigna clearance in under 3 days. Then the time flew by! If you ever have questions or need to talk just let me know
  9. I had RNY this past Monday and my decision was based on the long-term data, the "gold standard," and because of my problem with GERD. I'm still having a hard time getting my Protein shakes in (4 days postop) but I am so thrilled that I did this! I've always wanted to give up sugar to be healthier so with fear of dumping I have given up sugar. I realize that with some time I will be able to enjoy a cookie if I want but if I ever eat sugar again it will certainly be worth it!! Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I was discharged yesterday afternoon; however, I was up most of the night vomiting up the little bit of fluids that are in my pouch. My surgeon called in some zofran and for the next 2 hours (it was 4 total) I am not to swallow anything. So rough day but I'm feeling positive. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. Thank you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. Oh I hope I cool off after surgery tomorrow. I've been having hot flashes for about 5 years now and I live in central Florida where it's been 95 degrees with no breeze! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Only one hour and fifteen minutes left to eat my salad and drink Protein shake and eat yogurt! Then the nerves settle in as I drink my 8 bottles of Water. I have some work to finish before I'm out on medical leave tomorrow so that should keep me busy. I'm an early riser so I'm worried since I don't have to be at the hospital until 830am. 14. Good luck to you as well. I woke up nervous today. It's going to either be a long day or it'll fly by way too fast. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. I have been getting migraines most of my life as well and I worried about not being able to take NSAIDS but my doctor gave a list of other options, such as fioricet which is a great alternative. My RNY surgery is Monday- 2 days away!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Two days to go! Getting really nervous now but so ready to get my surgery over so I can get on with my new life. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. My liver shrinking diet is almost over and it did get a lot easier. I actually got to the point where if be working and I'd look up and see that it was 1 or 2 o'clock so I'd have to make my shake. Before this my stomach would tell me to eat around 11:30. Today and tomorrow are my last phase 2 diet days- then I'm at the hospital at 830 on Monday morning. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. Congratulations! My surgery date is on your birthday. . I'm glad you got the approval and excited for you because I know how excited I am. I wasn't going to tell anyone at work but I find I'm telling everyone now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. My all day preop (when I type preop on my phone it autocorrects to Oreos). Tomorrow and I've been a good girl on preop diet but damn I want a cheeseburger! I'm 6 days from surgery and starting to freak out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. Wow, great job!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I'm glad I didn't have to do a six month diet- my insurance required 90 days and that was log enough. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Prayers sent! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I'm getting the RNY. I thought I would struggle with the phase II diet but I am surprised that I haven't cheated- except for a bite of my husband's egg and bacon wrap from Wawa that he brought home yesterday morning. But i figured one bite won't hurt me. I think I'm not struggling as much because I now realize I will be able to enjoy food in moderation in the future. Good luck! 24. I've been walking, riding the bike and doing circuit training and I'm pre surgery but I want to be as healthy as possible before my RNY in 9 days. I'm hoping I will be cleared to exercise soon after surgery because all of the 3 week stall I'm reading about is a little scary. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. I'm also on my phase II/liquid diet prior to surgery and Protein shakes helped me a lot. I had increased exercise and gained a few pounds but the protein has me losing about a pound a day and eliminated all sugary/carb cravings. Like others have said, it is not a long-term fix but it could get you by. And I also agree that you NUT doesn't know what she's talking about! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
