  6. No plans for babies here! My surgeon does both sleeve and lap band and he stated figure of 80% success rate for his patients the other twenty were broken into two groups, further weight loss and failures, so failures were people like yourself who it just didn't work for at all, and further weight loss were those who needed the sleeve because they weren't happy with their weight loss after 5 years, those figures I don't remember exactly but it was close to half and half. 11. Eik! Had my first appointment today with the surgeon, nurse and Everyone hahaha went for 2 hours! But I am happy with my choice of the lap band and clinic and feel confident! I'm in Australia so weight is a rough guess! Starting weight: 124kgs or 274 pounds BMI: 40 Have a one month wait to see if finance is approved, then we start the nitty gritty with full blood work ups and x rays etc so we can book a surgery date! 12. Hey! I'm in Australia as well and just had my first consult, waiting a month for super approval and then will be about 6-8 weeks till the op, so I think I'll be looking at October ... Even at the consult in the waiting room knead like argh what am I doing?? Then while I was waiting for my different consults I saw all these people coming in for fills/unfills and check ups and they were all so happy and positive, and the staff knew everyone of them by name and I just relaxed... Then I met the surgeon and he was fantastic and I felt so at ease... Now I cannot wait!! I'll be following ur journey as I plan mine!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. That was the longest appointment ever lol feeling very happy! Have decided on the band, doctor said being young and other then my weight in very healthy he is reluctant to do a sleeve due to its permanence he said 80% of his patients who get the band have great success and that he thinks it's the best option for me in fact he said he wouldn't recommend the sleeve for me at all, he said in some cases 5 or so years down the line if the weight loss isn't where we want we can look at revision to a sleeve but he wants to leave that as a last resort Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  25. Hey everyone!! I have an appointment with my surgeon on Wednesday and made the appointment for a lap band however have been researching since making the appointment and now I am worried about the success of the band... I have joined a few chat groups and been reading into past topics etc and seems that most people who get the band regret it and end up having the sleeve done. I would appreciate any advice or experiences to help clear my head! Cheers Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
