    Endoscopic balloon dilation

I had a severe stricture and was balloon dilated. They did not fully sedate me. They put me in what they call a twilight state. I remember parts of the procedure but didn't feel pain. However my throat felt like strep throat the next day. I had the procedure repeated 3 times before it finally stayed! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Sugar free candy

I always have a supply of sugar free life savers the mint ones. They have 5 calories each. I've had no problem with them making me want candy... however I've never been a candy fanatic. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using the BariatricPal App

I have the stomach flu and I cannot vomit! Both of my kids had a 24 hour stomach bug this week and I guess it's my turn. I'm 8 months post op rny and this is my first time sick. I'm going through all the motions... uncontrolled heaving, gagging, the whole mess....but not one time has any vomit came up. Anyone else experience trouble vomiting post op??? Help!

It's been hard to keep up on fluids. But I've felt much better today and got atleast 65 Oz in so I think I'm getting back to normal. I'd have never thought surgery would take away the ability to vomit! I'd say I'm glad cause I've always hating vomiting but I think the lack of was worse. The heaving was terrible. Dumping

The one and only time I dumped was like a week post op and I was still on pureed foods. On the list of my approved foods was Sf chocolate pudding. I was sick for almost 3 hours over that cup of pudding. My doctor said it was a sensitivity to sugar alcohol. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using the BariatricPal App

    Being cold is getting old!

I used to sweat like crazy so when my surgeon mentioned I'd say cold after surgery I imagined as hot as I usually am after surgery I'll probably just be comfortable....wrong I am so cold that it hurts. It feels like I'm frozen to bone most of the time. The boss put a lock box on the thermostat at work because I was burning them out. And my bf is always complaining at home that him and the kids are so hot and uncomfortable. Blankets and extra clothes just don't keep me warm. I fell your pain. Really I do ???? 9. I had two bad strictures. Both times they were so tight even Water would make me vomit and get the slimmies. My first one was immediately relieved after an endoscopy. My second one came two weeks after the endoscopy and was just as tight. Again after a second endoscopy it was immediate relief (minus the sore throat you get from the scope) Sent from my SM-G930R4 using the BariatricPal App
  10. Had my 6 month post op rny appointment this week. I'll start by saying my pre surgery weight was 286. At my 6 month appointment I weighed 199. My surgeon never had me set a goal weight and I didn't really give it a lot of thought I just intended to get to a healthier weight and reduce my high bp. My doctor at my recent apt said that when I hit 180 I should make my calories in match my calories out and maintain weight. I was confused and said so I shouldn't lose anymore than 19 more pounds...and she said yes that would be a comfortable weight for me and I wouldn't have to struggle to maintain that. Now my problem with that is I still have over 6 months of active weight loss left....am I only going to lose 19 pounds in that long of a period??? And why stop there? Now that I actually think about it I'd really like to be atleast 160. Has anyone else been told to stop before you feel your done? I'm 33 years old and 5'4 so I'm still considered obese! Shake Question!

Does your surgeon know the budget you have to work with?? My bariatric center stressed the cost of what I would need to make sure I was prepared for the expense this journey would be. It is not possible to get your Protein and Vitamin needs met on a Ramen noodle budget. Even though my food intake has went down tremendously my grocery bill has still went up significantly! Unfortunately it is expensive to eat healthy. And quality shakes and Vitamins are costly. I hope you are prepared for this! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using the BariatricPal App
  12. I had the rny gastric bypass. And I feel that's alot of change to your body and alot to go through to stop at 6 months in. Especially since I'm still willing to put in the work to go further! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using the BariatricPal App

    Complication after complication

I too had 2 strictures the first one being at 4 weeks out! However my bariatric surgeon performed my endoscopy and dilated me on the spot. Two weeks later I was sick again and went for a second endoscopy and again he dilated me on the spot! And that time it stayed. I cannot imagine going as long as you had to wait....I vomited non stop during my strictures and couldn't eat or take Vitamins. That's a very long time to feel miserable. Sorry you had to endure such. Prayers your complication days are over! Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

    Hey Guys... First Post!

Congratulations on your decision! I'm a little over 8 weeks post op rny. I never really had any post op pain....I'd say I had some tenderness. I was up and walking about 2 hours after surgery and kept walking every 2 or 3 hours and I never even had gas pain. Each person is different of course but if your biggest fear is post op pain you shouldn't worry at all! Best of luck on your journey! Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

  16. I'm 4 weeks post op and can't meet my liquid or protein goals. Pretty much anything I eat with the exception of yogurt gives me the "foamies" for hours! Obviously while I'm puking I'm not eating or drinking. When I can eat I'm not supposed to drink 30 minutes before or after. I'm suppose to eat 6 times a day and I might eat twice. The goals are 100 oz liquid and 80gr protein. On a good day which is few and far between I might get 45 protein and 70 liquid. It's very frustrating. I think I'm being punished for having an amazingly easy surgery and recovery. Anyone else finding it impossible to meet their goals??? And yes I am chewing and eating super slow! It takes me almost an hour to get down 4oz of soft food.
  17. Thank you! They said I just healed really well and the scar tissue was good and thick and was closing my opening. Nothing you can do to cause it, it just happens sometimes. Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App
  18. I'm 4 weeks post op and just had my stricture dilated today. Instant relief! I had been vomiting for a full week but was able to drink fluids. Yesterday I quit being able to hold down any fluids. They got me in right away and did an endoscopy with balloon dilation. Made my throat sore but nausea is gone and I can drink! I have to start over on the diet stages though but I'm fine with that! Good luck and hope you feel better! Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App
  19. Just an update! Yesterday I couldn't hold anything down and was nauseous all day. By evening I couldn't even sip Water without it coming right back out. I called my surgeons office first thing this morning and they got me right into the endoscopy center. Ends up I had a severe stricture. The opening to your stomach is usally 12 (not sure if cm or mm) and mine was at .5 They did a balloon dilation the open me back up. Even though my throat is sore and I have to start completely over on the diet stages I am better! It was literally instant relief! I'm on Clear liquids for a few days but I'm ecstatic that I have been drinking water this evening and it's staying down! Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App
  20. I use premier Protein shakes they have 30 gr in 11 oz and Quest unflavored powder. I went to my bariatric clinic today and he told me to go another week trying even smaller bites and wetter foods and if I'm still getting stuck they may do an endoscopy and check things out. He also recommended warm drinks prior to eating to thin the foamies down. Thanks! I think my pouch is not ready for meats either! Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App
  21. I'm honestly thinking my pouch just don't hold 4 oz which is the portion size my surgeon recommended. I have no sensation of full until it gets stuck but by then of course it's too late. I've been reading and assume I don't have the sensation of full back yet which is normal. It's usually around 2oz that I get down before something gets stuck. I'm going to stop serving myself a 4oz portion and just go with 2 for now. I of course could be wrong but my surgeon describes dumping and foamies as two different things. He says foamies is eating fast or large bites and the foam tries to break it down and produces a large amount of slime like substance. He says dumping is usually sugary food that empties too quick and causes rapid heart rate sweats etc....but if I've learned anything at all it is that no two surgeons are anywhere near alike! Thanks guys for the advice! Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

  24. 100 oz is the high side of the goal but it's the standard goal for everyone at the bariatric clinic I attend. I do have an active job however it's in doors so heat isn't an issue. I drink one Protein shake a day and am working on adding another it just sits so heavy on my stomach. I also eat a Greek yogurt . Those combined bring me to 45 for protein. Pretty much any protein food I've tried such as eggs tuna and canned chicken make me foam. I don't think it's dumping. It feels like it gets stuck right in the center of my chest and my mouth fills with saliva and eventually I vomit slime/bubbles. This happens no matter how small or far between my bites are. I'm hopeful this phase will pass sooner than later! While it is miserable I haven't regretted my decision and I'm ecstatic that it has made me break my relationship with food ???? 25. The bariatric clinic set my goal amounts and said I wouldn't meet them right away but should be meeting them by my one month post op appointment. I have a post op education class in the morning and plan to ask to talk to my surgeon while there. Unfortunately it seems my body doesn't give me any indicators until it's too late. The foamies are terrible. It's just very frustrating when I know I'm not overeating if anything I'm under eating. I knew it wouldn't be easy but I really thought I'd do better than I am.
