  6. I think I made the right choice. The union has issued their strike notice effective June 19th through June 26th. . I am happy that I made the decision to move up my surgery from June 20th to June 13th Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  8. Thought I'd give an update. The nursing Union did vote to strike. I have moved my surgery to Monday,June 13th at 11:00 am. My husband and family will help with the clean up and return any rented items so I can move forward and not worry about the nurses strike affecting my date. Nervous but excited! 9. If I have to wait- it's not the end of the world but I would like it sooner than later. I'll know by Tuesday if there will indeed be a strike. Let's hope they settle Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Yes, If I were to have surgery 6-13 that would mean I would not be able to have any of the food for the graduation party as it is Clear liquids the day prior to surgery. I'm leaning towards letting it be whatever it will be. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I'm scheduled for RNY June 20th. The nursing Union will be voting on June 6th to decide if they will accept the contract offer (very unlikely) or vote to strike. Should they choose to strike, the earliest they could walk off the job is June 16th. This most certainly would affect my surgery date. I talked with my surgeon who stated that his understanding is that if there is a strike - it could delay my surgery up to another 5 weeks. I have another option to move up my surgery date to June 13th if there is OR time available. I know it sounds great, but I'm having my daughter's high school graduation party on 6-12. I will have so much to do for this along with clean up that I don't know that I or my family can be ready to do this. I also don't want to put off surgery for another 5-6 weeks either so I am torn as to what to do. If anyone has some advice, please let me know. Thank you. 12. I am opting for the RNY. I do not trust the temptation and want to be sure that I am selecting a procedure best suited for my success. It is a difficult decision no matter what you decide. Good luck to you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  15. I have only told my mother and my husband about my surgery. I come to find out that my husband has been sharing this news with many of our close friends and family without my knowledge. I am hurt and feel betrayed. My spouse stayed he did not know this was a "secret". I wanted to disclose this to people when I was ready. I am not prepared for the scrutiny of my decision for those who don't support it. Has anyone else ran into this issue? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  21. I love my sweets so I really feel like I would need a physical deterrent to keep myself and habits in check Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Did you have surgery? If so which one and how are you doing? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Thank you- I have sleep apnea and mild GERD. No official diabetes. I have a friend who had VSG 3 years ago and has put back on 20# because she slipped back into old habits. The VSG is new so there isn't a lot of data to indicate long term success. I know that even with the malabsorption risks with bypass the data indicates long term success Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I am 5' 2" 199# with a BMI of 36. I have been approved for surgery. I am torn between having VSG and gastric bypass. I understand that surgery is a tool but I am so worried that the VSG will not be restrictive enough and feel the potential for regain is higher Than with the bypass. I have such craving for sweets that I feel I need a physical deterrent to keep me on the path of a healthy lifestyle. Any suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
