  1. Any recipes or suggestions or shared experiences with homemade alternatives to the heavily processed, artificially sweetened commercial protein shakes?
  2. Hi Sharon, I'm a 30 yr old female in VA. Had gastric bypass 11/28/16.
  3. I went with bypass because of GERD. I couldn't even imagine making it any worse than it was, so I definitely didn't want to risk it with the sleeve.
  4. Thanks. I really meant the basics of nutrition, as in learning about actual nutrients and what they do in the body, etc.
  5. Any recommendations for a helpful, up-to-date, accurate book about the basics of nutrition and foods?
  6. So is it more accurate to count 1 month by counting 4 weeks or by the day of the month?
  7. For those of you that have a sensitivity to dairy, what kind of protein supplement did you end up using?
  8. @Imelton98 I know this post was a couple months ago, but how did it ever go with the vegan protein powder?
  9. @@seasidegirl I'm using the app for Android, so mine may be different than yours, but when I'm on my home screen, there is a plus sign on the bottom right hand corner I can touch for adding a new post.
  10. What are/were some of your favorite soft Protein foods now or when you were at that beginning stage? My doctor sends his patients home from the hospital on a "soft moist protein" stage. I'm 1 week post-op and so far all I've eaten has been scrambled eggs and little mini meatballs made of just ground turkey with some light cheese inside. I need some ideas/suggestions/inspirations.
  11. I'm 3 days out from my RNY on 11/28, and I'm looking for some ideas to help me get these meds down easier. I have 5 pills to crush and consume and I've been mixing them into no sugar added applesauce, but the taste is unbearable and I can't just add more applesauce to mask the taste because then I can't fit it all in my pouch. Maybe tomorrow I'll try adding them to a drink, but more spread out instead of all at once. Any suggestions?
  12. My RNY is this coming Monday. I'm a bit concerned about the pain meds they're going to give me in the hospital.. I get migraines, and I'm not sure what pain meds may or may not be a migraine trigger for me. I didn't think about it until I saw someone say the other day that she got a migraine from the dilaudid. If I were to request something like Toradol instead of a narcotic, is that just laughable, as far as being nowhere near strong enough to cover any pain?
  13. How long did your actual RNY/bypass take? And was anyone's surgeon unable to do your surgery laproscopically? My surgeon said at my pre op appt last week that my body type (short & fat) was the most difficult to operate on and sometimes (but not often) they find they can't do it laproscopically once they begin.

  15. Omgoodness thank you so much!!!
  16. Awesome @Alfred Day, that was my original date and then they bumped me up 2 days. I just peeked at your info and we have the same birthday too!!!
  17. Anyone having RNY on Nov. 28th, or maybe within 2-3 weeks of that?
  18. Hi @@dr3am3rstarz ..just wanted to tell you we have the same surgery date and are the same age. But I'm having RNY.
  19. Here's one surgeon's opinion: https://youtu.be/z5nm1GXqrm4
  20. Oh no! This is one of my fears :-(
  21. Yay! 5 days after mine! My surgeon doesn't require the liquid pre op diet, either. @@klouisa64 that's a funny response from your surgeon. Lol
  22. I'm not a veteran, but.... A Pound of Cure by Matthew Weiner ...He's a bariatric surgeon in Michigan. You can also check out his YouTube channel to hear him talk and get a feel of whether you'd be interested in the book.
  23. @@linseeka do you mind me asking your height?
  24. @@Songbyrd81 did you start your channel yet? What's it called?
