I need support!
Lovelymilena, this forum is terrific for support, but what I think is the most valuable thing is....we (nicely) call each other out on our BS when we make excuses, whine without really wanting to change, and wallow in the Land of Poor Me for too long. Don't get me wrong, everyone is extremely supportive when going through physical pain, concern, worrying about something....it's a really kind, helpful outpouring of love from people who know exactly what you're going through. But people here also know when it's time tell you to get back up on that bike and ride again, if that makes sense (metaphorically). Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Last appointment Wednesday!
Well if you have an email saying that then you are golden, I bet! They promised to email me something twice, never received. I have requested a case manager, will let you know what I hear. Crazy thing is, my BMI is 52....you can make me diet 6 months, but I am STILL not going to lose the 50+ pounds I would need to to get my BMI below 40...so why wait at all? Weight loss statistics question

Feel like I'm walking around with the best secret ever!
Jobey, so when people ask you about how you lost all your weight, are you going to share that WLS was a part of the equation? I think I want to be up front with people, whether they are thin or not, to help normalize the idea of WLS. I think I would have gotten here a lot sooner if the people who surrounded me didn't consider it a "cop out" ..... Ugh, makes me mad. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

My insurance requires a 6-month physician supervised diet?!? :(
I am having the same thing happen to me...on phone UHC says no 6 month diet, but my surgeon's office just told me UHC always requires that? I know that's not true as there are many different flavors of UHC. Anyway, getting a case nurse to help me get to the bottom of this. What's absolutely ludicrous, though, is that there is no way I could diet enough to drop below the 40 BMI in 6 months, my BMI is 52. Who are they kidding? Sleeve Surgery with Dr. Ponce De Leon on June 6, 2016
If their insurance does not cover bariatric surgery, they can self-pay for a lot less in Mexico rather than the US. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Last appointment Wednesday!
I decided against getting a case manager for UHC but now might ask for one after all.....BC on the phone they told me no waiting, but they told my surgeon's office that I need 6 monthly visits, UGH. Why would they tell me NO wait over the phone then tell my surgeon something different???? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Please help just noticed I was taking in too too much protein
Anyone have an idea on why even 100 grams is too much Protein? What could be the harm in "too much" protein before surgery? I was thinking it's the building block of new tissue, so how could you have too much pre-op? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

regret
Nikki, I am sorry you feel so crummy physically. This is only going to be short term though, you won't be stuck on broth and Popsicles in a few weeks, and you will find a way to eat with your family. You're certainly feeling the effect of fewer calories, and it's running in a deficit that's going to make the weight go away. But don't forget that you're also wiped out bc you had major surgery, and your body is working overtime on creating new tissue and knitting everything back together again. sleep as much as you can, and give your mind a chance to catch up with your body. Give yourself a chance. If I can ask.....what were some of the reasons you wanted to have the surgery? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
