  1. How have you handled wls and caring for kids (very active 5 yr olds)? Is only my husband and I and no other help and I do everything and the twins want me all the time (hugs, laying on top of me for naps, etc) trying to think through the post op recovery period Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  2. Great! Thank you! Good to know! Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  3. I keep oscillating between the balloon and the sleeve. I understand the risks are greater with the sleeve, but it sounds like having the balloon is miserable and seems like dehydration is a problem. Has anyone had balloon then went to sleeve and can describe the pros and cons of each? Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  4. I'm thinking of that now especially reading the forum of sleeve complications, best of luck to you Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  5. I apologize if this sounds naive or silly. But I have a few questions, I haven't decided about surgery yet. What happens to the staples? Will they ever get loose, nick other organs or possible get loose and travel through intestines? What meds are typically prescribed after surgery, i saw a blood thinner injection is one. 6. I haven't had the surgery yet, but I have twin 5 yr Olds and they both love their mom holding them, one is 33lbs one is 48lbs. Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  7. I'm asking myself the same question, I yo yo my whole life and am unsure the balloon will give me what I need long term as a tool. I like the less invasive aspect but am wondering if I should apply the 7000$ to a more permanent solution Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  8. All valid points! I'm a very private person and don't want to deal with office politics. I'll be self pay so insurance won't factor in plus I have insurance through my husbands work. Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  9. Great suggestions! Ya he may end up not agreeing with it, but will help me out I'm sure. Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  10. Maybe I should do that and just tell him that I have my mine set on doing it and he can support me or not. Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  11. I don't want people at work to know about my wls. What have you used if you choose to keep this matter private? I was thinking of saying, if anyone wants to visit me in hospital, that I had a hernia repair or is that too far fetched? Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  12. I went thru 4 ivfs so put my body thru a menopausal state 4 times and my body loves to hold onto fat! Before the last ivf, i convinced dh to let me have a smart lipo procedure on my tummy so the meds could work better (they did, I had twins). My hubby mistook the lipo for weight loss and said basically I was still fat and I'm never to have that type of surgery again. My recovery was tough and he was worried (?) anyway, I need help, I want to get the sleeve and get in with life and run after my kids without having a breathing attack. I want to be open about the surgery and my desire for it, but it'll cost 12000 out of pocket. I'm afraid he'll think I'm doing one of my silly weight loss things again. I don't think he'll appreciate the reasons to do it and we'll tell me to diet and exercise. Any advice? Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  13. Thanks! I *think* I've found a couple of places but thier reviews aren't good. I may travel to another city (hadn't thought about that). Can I drive myself after the procedure? How do you like it so far? Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  14. Has anyone had a gastric balloon placed in Austin? Where did u go? How much was it? I am having a heck of a time finding a place that does it locally Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  15. Can you tell me more? Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  16. Good luck everyone! Anyone using Dr Ganta in TX? I'm hoping to see him for a sleeve Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  17. I just found out the package cost for plication vs Sleeve, 15000 vs 13500(!) I was thinking that the plication would be less expensive. I was looking at the plication for numerous reasons (risks, no cutting, etc) but have been on the fence about which procedure to finally do. How did you decide for the plication vs any other wls? Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  18. I'm also worried about this not working and I don't lose weight, then looking like I failed again... I'm sure this is unfounded, but that's another reason I don't want him to know, silly right? Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  19. I was under the impression that it was an outpatient procedure, i havent seen a doc yet for consult. Maybe once I feel confident in going forward with it, I'll let my husband know. He just worries so much and would prefer I lose weight on my own, but it's not something I can do, I feel le my body is fighting me. Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  20. I didn't even think about the diet portion. My hubby works a lot so won't even notice my eating habits. Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  21. I'm a almost 41 yr old mother of twin boys and have been hovering around 230-240 for 5 yrs. I did intensive ivf (4 rounds) & feel this has messed with my ability to lose weight. I've been big my whole life (10 pounder at birth). I will be self pay and don't want my husband to know I'm doing it (he would be against it). Im looking into Dr ganta in Austin TX. Any advice on recovery? What to expect? How long before heavy lifting (my boys are 50 and 30 lbs each and love being lifted) Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
  22. I'm not going to tell anyone either because of back handed comments and jealousy. Has anyone done a plication or sleeve and not told thier husband or wife? Sent from my SM-G860P using the BariatricPal App
