Killian's Gastric Sleeve Journey
Had my 2nd Pre Op appointment. Had blood taken, stood in front of an x ray thing and swallowed sweet chalky water. Was told I lost 21 pounds since just following the Nut. I have no problen loosing the weight it is keeping it off is the problem. I had to fight every urge not to stop at Taco Bell to "celebrate". Took everything I had to drive past. Even had my turn signal on and changed my mind at the last second. I have lost 21 pounds and not many people noticed. Lol..that is ok. I have alot NSV's- pants fit better..I am on the last hole in the belt, wedding ring comes off easily now...

Anyone not telling anyone about their surgery?
Completely agree. I know people will ask because they genuinely care and all that, but I dont want our converstations to be about weight loss. If it could be: "did you have surgery? " "Yup" "You look great. Glad the surgery went well." "Thanks!" "How 'bout them Yankees?" But life is not lile that and like you, I dont want to answer the same 100 questions. Luckily, my wife has not told anyone about my impending surgery (Aug/ Sept).

Thyroid
@ Thanks! Will definitely discuss my situation with my Endo in June. I usually eat breakfast when I get to work at 6pm...so taking it in the morning on an empty stomach will work for me.

Thyroid
@ I am having Gastric Sleeve surgery sometime in September. I have not tried taking it in the morning on an empty stomach, I will give that a try. Problem is, I get up at 3:30 am to catch a 4:15am train..so I kinda roll out of bed into my clothes and out the door. I tend to forget $h!t in the morning, so it has become "routine" for me to take it at night. But lowering the dose would be nice, so will discuss it with my Endo at next appoint in June.

Thyroid
@ Grave's disease here too. Had my thyroid destroyed by RAI (radioactive iodine) swallow when I was in the Navy Sometime in 1999. Been Hypo and on Synthroid since 1999. I am Pre-op and hope my thyroid does not hinder my weight loss progress. Time will tell. Currently on 300 Mcg tablet once a day and skipping Sundays. I never knew about taking it with Calcium..will have to watch for that. I take it everynight at bed time and my levels have been steady ever since. I see an Endo once every 6 months, I find the Endo knows a bit more about Graves then my PCP.

Anyone have Empire Plan NYSHIP -United healthcare ?
I have HIP Prime in New York. I have a 4 month wait...Need psych eval too. Everything is covered. I can wait the 4 months..it is good practice and gives me time to read these forums and You Tube video of fellow sleevers. Use the waiting period to your advantage.

Killian's Gastric Sleeve Journey
I am 2 weeks into my pre op diet. Doing well until last night...I had fish for dinner which is ok but had waay too much white rice followed by two apples and two Dannon Light and Fit yogurts. I was not even hungry. Need to get this "head hunger" under control.

Killian's Gastric Sleeve Journey
So Day 1 already small bump in the road. A good friend at work went out and bought me my usual bagel and coffee for breakfast without even asking! Swell guy..means well..I took it, said thank you..and gonna ask around if anyone wants it before I toss it out. The picture shows the free bagel on the right and the Protein shake in the cup on the left. Decisions decisions.... I gave the bagel away and drank the Protein Shake.

Holy $ h ! t that is funny. Never thought of that. I dont wear panties and I don't need a bra yet, but carrying weights so I dont loose too much is such a great idea- I am annoyed I did not think of it myself! So gonna do that if I need too...don't wanna loose the insurance coverage! Lol

Killian's Gastric Sleeve Journey
@@KristenLe could not agree more. After I hand delivered the wrong referral the nice staff woman saw the frustration and took the problem head on. She made some calls. Greased the wheels. Used industry jargon to whomever she was talkong to on the phone. It was nice to see. So as mad as I was, it seems they are going above and beyond to correct this. That was yesterday 5 pm April 13th so not much could be done. I will find out more this morning. They are caling me around 10am with a status update.

You should call your insurance and see what the coverage and requirements are for WLS. Insurance calls the shots in this process. Bariatric offices should be familiar, but you should know first hand. You may also be able to view the medical policy online.@@dhrguru Thanks for the reply. Before I made the appointment I did call my insurance company because I did not want to waste my time at the seminar. I was told by my insurance company they cover all 3 procedures and have a 4 month supervised diet period. I wish the representative on the phone would have said..."before you go you need a referral" Would have given me a week to get one.

Killian's Gastric Sleeve Journey
Went to the appointment. Got the referral. Brought it to the Bariatrics place...not the right referral. WTF!?? Need an insurance referral...NOT a doctor referral. Ummm...how about somebody in office just tell me what they need and I will get it. It is going to be a looong journey.

Killian's Gastric Sleeve Journey
So, while there the staff informs me that I need a referral. Why..in the name of all that is holy was I not made aware of this?? If they just would have told me, I couls have taken care of it. Grrr So, I called my PCP and since I have not seen him in 6 years, he is no longer my PCP. Double Grrr. Called the practice and now have an appoint for today in little less then an hour with a new PCP. Hope he can give me the referral I need so then I can drop it off before the Bariatics staff goes home tonight. I don't want today not to count towards my 4 month pre op.
