  1. Hi! I had my surgery in December 2016, starting at 215, but I’ve only dropped to 170. While I’m THRILLED with the results, I feel as though I should be at goal now. But, I’ve only started exercising the past month. Honestly, I “relapsed” on bad habits and I cannot for the life of get back on track. I almost feel complacent since I still look and feel so much better. Would like to drop 20 more. Any advice for me to get back on gear with eating? I think part of my problem has not been getting NEARLY the protein I should (just the past month). Still, this surgery was the best decision I’ve ever made. Thanks!
  2. Yes, not enough protein (60-80mg was what I was recommended) will make you hungry. I’m almost a year out and have gone back to some bad habits (sweets, very little protein) so I saw my Bariatric nutritionist and she was adamant about getting my protein in and not worry too much about carbs and calories. I’m still in my losing phase, but I swear when I get in a ton of protein I not only feel better, but I go right back to eating super small portions.

    Making noises

I’m almost a year out and my stomach still makes funny noises. It’s my cue to stop eating.

    Please help..

Same thing happened to me last week. I'm five weeks out and have had a really hard time taking in liquids. I emailed my surgeon's office, and he actually called me to get details of my symptoms, etc. He prescribed me a steroid because apparently your stomach and intestines can become inflamed. I'm on the second day of the meds and I actually feel a lot better. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Also, he said IV infusion should be a last resort but we'd do it if necessary. 6. I'll be four weeks out tomorrow and I'll be honest, it's been kind of rough the last two weeks or so. Like many of you, I'm having a hard time getting Protein and liquids in. I'm heaving at every sip. Not to mention I've had a stomach bug the past several days so the task has become even more difficult. Dehydration is a big concern for me as well. I'm not urinating nearly as much as I did even one week ago. Everything that hits my stomach (Water, Gatorade) causes it to cramp. I wonder if the issues I'm having is from acid? My husband seems to think so, and I'm waiting for a return call from my surgeon. I'm hoping and praying this is a temporary rut and things will improve. Good luck to everyone! Same thing happened to me until my husband pointed out I should probably drink everything room temperature for a while. Worked! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I had both on 12/7. I woke up in a lot of pain from the hernia repair and for close to a week had discomfort, but it wasn't bad at all. I felt as though I needed to burp really badly, but it was stuck. Uncomfortable yes, somewhat painful only 1 or 2 days. I have menstrual cramps that are worse! I also didn't have any issues with the swallowing like my surgeon had warned me about. I know everyone copes differently, but I'm glad I had the hernia repair at the same time as my sleeve. For me, getting all of my Protein in has been by far the most difficult thing so far Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I definitely understand. I had surgery on 12/7, but I've only lost close to 6 lbs since that time and to be honest, I'm a bit bummed. It's completely ridiculous to be because it's weight lost that I would have never done on my own, but I'm having a hard time with the Protein (I love Protein Bars, not shakes), AND my period starts next week. I know that's probably why I feel crummy and grumpy, but it's still disheartening. I had a lower BMI to begin with and I believe folks who have less weight to lose, lose at a slower pace. Anyway, suzzzzz is very correct in saying that our bodies have gone through significant trauma. It's going to take what I believe is months before we feel super good. 11. Hi there. I had my sleeve plus hiatal hernia repair yesterday and the surgery went great. I'll admit though that when I woke up in recovery and was much bed to my room, I was in a lot pain. Just under my ribs and where my hernia. I'm still uncomfortable, but I'd rate my pain at 3 out of 10. Walk walk walk. That's helped me out more than anything. The staff at my hospital, Rex, are great and are making sure I sip sip sip Water and walk up down the halls. Not a lot of sleep, but I truly believe a lot of walking is the key. Happy for you and good luck!! Feel free to IM for anything. Paige Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. Good morning. I'm scheduled for surgery tomorrow afternoon and I am STARVING. Apparently I'm starving because I haven't been drinking enough Protein. I know we've beat this topic to death, but I swear I'm going to vomit if I drink another shake. I can't get 5 in a day. I hope it doesn't impact my surgery and I've been drinking sooo many fluids, but Protein shakes are breaking my heart. Anyone else literally sick to their stomachs? Not enough protein shakes

Hmm that's a really good idea. Thanks so much!! I'll check my local GNC to see if they carry anything of the sort. I'm not one to normally say I'm starving bc I'm very fortunate and never have been, but this liquid diet has been tough, tough. My surgeon and the bariatric nurses I had to meet with post op yesterday assured me I wouldn't be hungry in a few days. I just would anything for a taco salad from my local Mexican restaurant! 18. I have a pretty low bmi and weigh about 210. Hoping all of this pre hard work is worth it. I admit I'm concerned about not losing the 50-60 lbs I'm hoping for because I don't want to lose much more than that. Generally, those with more to lose easily lose after surgery. I'm just concerned that the weight that needs to fall me will happen quickly and not over an extended period of time. 19. I have terrible family history and other medical issues. I got approved in 2 days by BCBSNC. I was shocked too! Thanks for the kind words everyone and best of luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  21. Hi guys. Very new here and to this process. I have a lower BMI and are currently confirming a co-morbidity. So my question is this-- Are those of you who can exercise before going to? And if so, how much? I'm thinking walks on the treadmill and strength training. Might be good to have your workout ready to once you get cleared. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
