  1. Finally got paid (getting paid once a month sucks, just fyi) - so I can finally get the staples I'll need for the first few weeks after surgery. Here's what I'm thinking for now: Bone broth Isopure Zero Carb sugar free Jello Sugar Free Applesauce Premier Protein RTD shakes Syntrax nectar Protein (still testing flavors) Unflavored Protein (still testing brands) What did you wish you'd had at home the first week home after surgery that you didn't think of? What did you buy that you wish you hadn't?
  2. I'm going to do both - but probably far fewer videos than posts!
  3. I'm getting sleeved that same day! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
  4. I decided to go semi-public and actually blog about my decision and journey. Writing it down is the best way for me to process my thoughts and emotions, and I just couldn't not do it. Though it doesn't auto post to FB or Twitter or anything like that, so it's internet public, but not real life public. http://becomingmandikaye.com/
  5. The World According to Eggface also has TONS of Protein shake recipes that sound super yummy and way better than just Protein powder mixed with Water. https://www.pinterest.com/eggface/protein-shakes-and-smoothies/
  6. My favorite ready to drink shake (so far) is Premier Protein in chocolate. It's also delicious if mixed with a bit of cold brew coffee concentrate. I'm making my way through some Syntrax nectar samples, and so far I've discovered that mixing vanilla with fuzzy navel in milk with a few ice cubes blended in is pretty amazing. (Conversely, Unjury's strawberry Sorbet is disgusting) I also don't mind the Isopure Zero Carb drink in Grape or Alpine Punch
  7. Mine is supposed to be June 15th! Less than 3 weeks away!
  8. I use the Withings scale - I got it mostly because it connects to my wifi and updates both Fitbit and MFP with my progress. It also shows BMI and the weather for the day (which is super helpful for me since sometimes I have no idea it's raining outside until I open the door to leave for work).
  9. It's important to note that there is a big difference between being an introvert and being socially isolated. I am an introvert. What that means is I need to recharge in solitude, not live in solitude. Healthy introverts still have friends and are social. They don't live in isolation or seclusion. I think that's the kind "social isolation" being discussed here. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
  10. I believe it. As someone who has struggled with severe depression and living a hermit-ish life... I absolutely believe it.
  11. I am also on a state health plan through BCBS (NC), and it does cover it. The best thing to do in every case is call and ask.
  12. Wow! Congratulations, and a huge good luck! You can totally do this.
  13. Oh dear... I tried a sample of Celebrate Vitamins multivitamin (in Pineapple Strawberry) and it was AWFUL. Do all chewable vitamins taste that bad?
  14. I didn't know about it until just now! I think I might be able to come.
  15. Oh lord, if they come back and tell me my date was "tentative" I'm going to hurt someone!
  16. Well here's the scary part. I'm not approved yet. They won't submit it to insurance until after I have the endoscopy (required by the doctor, not my insurance). I pushed them for a surgery date because I really wanted my surgery in June (it's easier to take time off work then, rather than later in the summer). Here's my timeline so far: April 28 - surgery consultation May 2 - NUT and psych consultations (and that's the end of my insurance requirements). May 3 - called to find out what the timeline would be since I completed insurance reqs, they scheduled my endoscopy for June 6 (Dr. Yoo only performs these one Monday per month). May 6 - called back because I hadn't heard anything about a surgery date - that's when they told me they wouldn't schedule it until after the endoscopy. May 10 - they called to ask why I was pushing for a June date, concerned it was an issue with my insurance changing. I assured them it wasn't, it was just my preference and I had discussed it with Dr. Yoo (even though he didn't remember it) May 16 - They called and gave me my pre-op and surgery dates. Upcoming: June 6 - endoscopy ***this is where I get twitchy - they told my my insurance has a 48 hour turnaround, so I'm trusting them*** June 9 - Pre-op June 15 - surgery
  17. The chewables from Celebrate Vitamins have it.
  18. Mine's on June 15th. So close!
  19. Hey! He's doing my sleeve on 6/15! Howdy there surgery buddy!
  20. Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't have what my doctor told me I needed (no folic acid, not enough zinc/iron). I found Celebrate Vitamins, which I think will do the trick. They're just a bit on the expensive side.
  21. I'm in *a* May/June Sleevers group, got added today. Not sure if it's the right one?
  22. The plan is sleeve, unless they find something in my endoscopy (June 6th!) that would necessitate bypass.
  23. @@Pink_Ninja I'm with Dr. Yoo @ Duke. Surgery is June 15th!
  24. @@Pink_Ninja That's my same handout! You're in NC, too! Who was your surgeon?
