First 3 days after surgery
To start off, I have a total of 7 laproscopic incisions, as I had a hiatal hernia repair as well. I am currently 6 days post op and things are a lot better. The day of the surgery, I was in pain. Shoulders were killing me and I could not move without feeling pain around my cuts and inside. It was tough. That first night I will not forget. This is because I had a allergic reaction to one of the medications that caused me to have a terrible 45 min hot flash. Day 2 was a lot better. The nurses were able to get me up with the help of a stomach elastic band. I was drinking liquids at a very good rate. The first steps were hard. I felt like my wounds were still to fresh and I could feel them as I walked. But sooner than later, I was doing 1 lap and then 2 laps around the clinic. There was still pain, but you must accept it as something that WILL pass. I had moments, especially during the hot flash, where I felt as if I wanted to just run away from it all. My father stayed over night with me and helped me through. Have a loved one by your side if you can, or reach out to here. You sometimes need a voice to remind you things will move forward and this is only for a few ticks on the sweeping hands. The days that follow, you will only get better. Try your best to hit the protien and Water goals and update us. It is okay to feel nervous and scared, you will take a nap and wake up to a new life. Don't let the first unbalanced steps sway you from this! Best, Sanju

The wonderous Impacted feces
**TMI alert*** Guys, this is super embarrassing but I need to know. I am at day 7 and while constipated for the past few days, today I've been dealing with impacted fecal matter that will not say bye. For a play by play, there have been 7 rounds and it's currently 7 feces - 0 me. The surgeon has told me to to take dulcolax to try to fight it, but it's been 7 hours, and I have gone a few times only to have some spurts of loose motion, but the impacted matter is killing me and not exiting. Did anyone else experience this? Or similar. I was feeling so much better but the flexing of my core during the episodes have left me very lower energy. Best, Sanju

Pulling sensation
I'm ending day 4 today and realize the only pain I have left now is located in the stomach organ area while walking, laying down and sitting up. It is a sharp pulling feeling. Is this normal for sleeve patients? Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

How did you sleep?
Just a quick question guys, did you guys sleep flat or elevated once you were released home? I'm on day 3 and have been sleeping a bit elevated. I have had to take over my parents stiffer bed since coming home since my tempurpedic (oh how I miss you) is just to soft.

Pain meds
Did anyone here also have a herniated repair? I'm not sure if the soreness is from the hernia repair or the sleeve. I only feel it when I stand and walk. Kind of like pulling. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

Anyone ever thought:"I can do this on my own, I don't need the sugery"
I think of the surgery as more of tool to maintain the lost weight over time. How many of us here have lost a tom of pounds to only gain it back? Mixed with the emotional aspect of eating that many of us have and do deal with, this tool can be a God send. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

PreOp Diet
Lol just don't eat fatty foods and stick with protiens. If you can eat, eat healthy. You still want to try to shrink that liver, it will only make the surgery easier. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

Surgery on April 11th, cheated on liquid fast last night.
I have never understood the differences in pre either. All I would say is what everyone else would probably say, follow the surgeons instructions. That being said, it is much easier said than done (ehm ehm original post). If you were to have a meal, I would keep it simple and based around something you really enjoy. While I know I should not have cheated, a healthy meal here and there definitely helped with cravings for unhealthy things. Make sure the meal is 72 hrs before surgery to insure that it has exited the building before surgery date. If you have been losing weight, your liver has also been shrinking. A meal will not reverse this. Follow the surgeons instructions, shrink that liver.

Surgery on April 11th, cheated on liquid fast last night.
Hey guys! I'm going into surgery for the sleeve in 3 days. I am excited but a little down about how I couldn't get through the whole 2 week liquid fast without finally breaking. I started the fast 2 days early due to some weight goals before surgery, and since have ate 3 times total. The meals were always healthy, usually fish based. I guess what I am wondering is, should I be worried about anything? Are they going to make me weigh in again the day of surgery? The reason I ask is because I lost 32 pounds and am now right on the limit of where I can have the surgery at hospital (must be below 55 bmi). My weight has halted and floats around 337-344 depending on how hydrated I am. I needed to be under 340 for all the weigh-ins, which I was. I'm worried that I might have to watch my Water intake the day before surgery to make sure I am at weight like I did for previous weigh ins, but I do not want to be dehydrated for surgery. 1 million thoughts a minute leading up to surgery Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
