  1. I make sure I have good food choices - 3 small meals, 2 Snacks per day and high Protein, high Fiber to make sure I am satisfied. I find the bad stuff people bring around rarely tempts me when I am already satisfied. so far, it's working for me.
  2. none of my former coworkers planned to go back to smoking but it is a very difficult thing to quit, and I am thankful that I never started. I've had to overcome enough bad habits as it is.
  3. they had the sleeve. and I am not sure - probably they were good about it for the first 6 months or so. I would say for absolute certain all were smoking again by 9 months post op.
  4. my plan has always allowed for carbs in moderation. we have a Protein goal, and calorie goal worked out with the nut but we are expected to eat veg, fruit and things like oats. it's worked very well for me. I would say I am still "low carb" when you look up low carb - but not super low.
  5. a coworker had this surgery a year before me and I suppose seeing her experience on a daily basis probably did make me feel more comfortable. my uncle had the surgery a year and a half before mine, maybe 2 years? and he did very well with his.
  6. I weigh daily for accountability but I only log the number on Monday or doctors visits. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Sip sip sip no matter how you feel. You will loose weight but you'll gain it right back because this will ruin your metabolism. You have to have Protein to heal. Try things like refried Beans or scrambled eggs or cottage cheese perhaps you won't feel as stuffed as the fish made you. Sip Protein drinks. Keep trying every day. And please let us know how you are doing. We care. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. it's good to see your face! keep up the good work. it's worth it.
  9. wonderful results! I'd love to see a picture of you in your wedding dress afterwards!
  10. I have three coworker experiences who have had WLS and were smokers. they all went back to smoking sometime after surgery. they have all had ulcer issues.
  11. you won't participate in pizza friday's like you used to - but a lot of people make pizza with a cauliflower crust, or have a thin crust, or just eat the toppings (that's what I do) and then it feels good to be a part of things again. all in good time! it's worth all of this to feel healthy again.
  12. I am so proud of you! I hope that your path only gets better and brighter! the sleeve was the best thing for me. I am also so pleased with how things are changing for me.
  13. the first couple of weeks I had cooked food for the family to put in the freezer so I didn't have to fool with any of that. now I just fix our normal meal, I eat a little of the veg, I eat the Protein and I skip any Pasta or bread that we are having. If I make something like spag and meat sauce, I just have the meat sauce with veg. Last night the kids had mac n cheese, with ground meat (turkey breast and ground sirloin) and green Beans. I had some of the meat mixture with cheddar cheese melted like a wee ground meat burger. everyone was happy/ once I was on solid foods it doesn't bother me to fix other things for them and eat what is appropriate for me. so, once I was out a ways from surgery it really hasn't affected anything at all.
  14. well. I consider you an awesome success because you probably learned a lot about yourself and your triggers during those little side trips. and for long term success? that is a key component. 5 years from now I doubt it will matter to you if it took 12 months or 18 months, because I would hope and expect that your new normal will be a normal healthy weight. every day.
  15. I just had a cat scan - but I didn't ask. I just asked how it all looked. the cat scan was for something else.
  16. I love cottage cheese - but I'll admit I usually have it with fruit or veg. or a meat stick, or lunch meat. what about a smooth salsa? can you have that?
  17. we discussed averages - and the team asked me what my personal goals and expectations were, prior to surgery - I would imagine to see how realistic I am? I don't know. Ultimately getting it off and keeping it off is up to me, but they are my main line of support, and so it's good that we all know where I want to end up. they can help me make a plan to get there.
  18. I do eat a lot of Beans. they have good Protein - satisfying and good Fiber. I also add benefiber to my morning drink and in the evening. I take a stool softener. and I eat a half a piece of oat toast on mornings when I have eggs. I eat things like asparagus, brocolli, apple wedges with cheese.
  19. just looking at what you have listed it is possible that your exercise has convinced your body that you are starving. check with your team to see if you might need to add a Protein bar or something on days you work out.
  20. I wonder if you are eating 2x as much all at one time, or have you gone to grazing during your pregnancy? once you are delivered, if you are not nursing - go back to the beginning. liquids, then soft foods, small portions. I am pretty sure you will find your restriction again. if you are nursing that will up your Fluid and calorie needs - but just work with your doctor to know where your calories need to be to loose weight. I lost weight without difficulty nursing my little ones. but you do not have to wait to get started - right now you can focus on eating densely nutritious food to nourish that wee precious babe - and yourself - kick any simple carbs to the curb. go back to basics, and just ask your doctor where your calories per day should be for you and the babe.
  21. oh I am sorry! a LOT of people have trouble with eggs. I don't know why. I am thankful they are a staple food for me. best to let them aside for a few weeks and then try again, or try them fixed a different way.
  22. please don't be too upset by that. sometimes if someone is reading on their phone those headers don't always show. assume he didn't realize because it is easy to do. I hope you can find some answers. usually the hormone dump goes the other way but this is not unheard of. or it could be unrelated - but either way you shouldn't have to settle for this.
  23. @@OKCPirate it's not that simple. while the mind is first and foremost important, there are other things besides the mind involved. hormones also play a big role and can be and are affected by WLS. when you have good lubrication it is easier to get to climax, when you are not then nothing else is going to work correctly. lubrication can also be affected by hormones and just other health issues. seeing the GYN is the first step. if there are issues in someone's mind due to wls affecting how they feel about their partner, or their body then counseling would be appropriate, but the OP doesn't indicate anything like that.
  24. the hospital gave me one - so you might want to check with them first. if not, I have one - hardly worn. would send it for the cost of shipping.
