The dreaded prep!
I used a straw and put it as far back in my mouth as I could. About 10 minutes after I did feel nauseated so you might drink half then take a short break then drink the rest, I think I felt nauseated because I chugged it. Oh yeah and put it in the refrigerator.

Anyone in Missouri?
I just had surgery yesterday! I'm still in the hospital actually!

calling all april 2016 bypass patients
I just had my RNY yesterday 4/4/16, it is definitely understandable to be nervous! I have had an excellent recovery so far! Pain has not been too bad at all! I have to go for an upper GI X-ray today and as long as they do not see any leaks I can begin my stage 1 clear liquid diet. For some reason, my surgeon doesn't want people up and walking until physical therapy comes to see them the next day, so that stinks because I really wanted to start walking yesterday. I have been falling asleep a lot just laying in bed, and the morphine probably doesn't help!

This really has not been bad at all! My pain has never been above a 4/10 since I woke up! I have been very hydrated here and I can tell because I am getting puffy, but all in all I am doing great!

Liquid diet begins....
It does get better! I am on day 9 and after about 3-4 days I would still occasionally get the "oh man that looks good to eat!" Thoughts in my head, but for the most part I am not truly hungry.

Does roux n y gastric bypass present challenges for future unrelated surgeries?
Good luck with your surgery! Hopefully now with your weight loss it will allow your surgeon to perform it in a less invasive way!

Day 4 of 3 Week Liquid Diet
I hear ya with the mood swings! I started my period on the same day I started my liquid diet, it was killer! But my husband managed to survive!

I imagine the main thing would be no blind NG tubes, but I would just make sure anesthesia and your surgeon know you have had a gastric bypass. I don't really think they would need to put an NG tube down, but just incase they do need to i would let them know.

Liquid diet
Yeah I understand the purpose, I just was curious of at some point your head got used to it?

So with all this time on my hands... I've been thinking... Rut ro! ha!
I think it definitely is a good thing to start grinding it into your brain so it is a habit before surgery and not something you need to learn to do after. There are already so many changes after surgery.

Looking for April peeps for RNY (Bypass)
Hi there! Thanks for replying to me! Where ya from? I'm in Pittsburgh Pa. I'm very nervous about all this! Your just right around the corner with your surgery! Not much longer! Are you super excited??? I live about an hour away from Kansas City, Mo. I'm getting excited and nervous. I'm only on day 3 of my liquid diet and I am not going to lie, I am beginning to question this whole thing.

Liquid diet
So, at any point during the two week liquid diet (4 protein drinks, broth, water, crystal light) does your brain stop craving food? I'm on day 3, and hoping the mourning doesn't last the whole time. I know most of it is head hunger, but I am just wanting to prepare myself if it doesn't get better.

Pregnancy
My doc(and most from what I have read) recommend making sure you are using a reliable method of birth control for at least 18 months. Assuming all goes according to plan we will begin to "remove the goalie" shortly after the 18 month mark
