  1. Very inspiring. I'm now 8 days out and went against my own rule and gave in to the scale today. 13 lbs since day of surgery. Holy moly ![emoji4][emoji4][emoji4]
  2. No. You're not unlucky. She simply did a crappy job of explaining it to you. Nerves are in our skin. When they cut through they sever them. When they sew you back up the nerves need to re connect/ regenerate. THAT is where the pain is from. Some areas "reconnect" easier than others. The areas that don't hurt more- a lot more. And EVERYONE goes through this. She needs to be reeducated on speaking with patients. Period.
  3. Lol on the whining. I can relate. However- have you considered some sort of compression garment for your abdomen? Also, during maternity there is a belt of sorts women wear under their clothing to support the belly and alleviate pain from their back. This may be your savior. Stop by a maternity clothing store ( not just a section in a large store an actual specialty shop) and ask of you may try one on. Good luck.
  4. Dr gave me cymbalta years ago for two purposes- first was for peripheral neuropathy from rheumatoid arthritis. Worked like a charm. Second was for depression I didn't even know I was suffering from. Worked on that as well. Fast forward 5 years and the cymbalta just wasn't cutting it any longer. My doctor prescribed Wellbutrin in addition to the cymbalta- boom! Back on track and way easier than trying a new medication alone. Lol at the happy pill comment. That's exactly what I call them!
  5. I'm now 8 days post op. Still have pain by two of my incisions but been walking over a mile each day. Today was crazy! Was up early to take my youngest to a 7 am dental appointment and walked while he was getting his teeth cleaned. Did some other errands and at 1 sat in the recliner by the fireplace and woke up at MIDNIGHT!!! Holy cow! Obviously I needed it but now 3 am and wide awake! Finding hot tea is my best friend. Tummy does NOT like cold things! Have yet to throw up, dump etc. no issues getting liquids in either but adding all the food ( that's a laugh!! 4 oz 3x a day?!?!) is more of a pain because I'm more interested in getting the Protein in. FYI- Dannon Greek yogurt has a banana cream and a toasted coconut that are unbelievably awesome!!!!! Have a great day all!!!
  6. Mine was last Wednesday. The 23rd of March[emoji4][emoji4][emoji4]
  7. Omg and get up and walk asap! First time needed the nurse and hubby with me. After that walked the halls by myself with the IV every 2 or 3 hours!
  8. Has surgery same day. Two of my incisions are the same when I roll over or stand up after sitting. Walking is helping. When I hit the one mile mark I find it burning again and have to stop. Remember that nerves were cut going into your belly and they are reconnecting. Often that is the cause of the pain. Organs don't have pain receptor nerves. So what you and I are experiencing is the nerve pain in skin tissues
  9. Oh sweetheart- this is ANYTHING but an easy way out! Yesterday, a GB friend told me about a woman she met at the gym. Lady had noticed my friend had lost a significant amount of weight. Asked her how. My friend told her she had GB and the woman's reply? Oh, I've lost the same amount but I did it the HARD OLD FASHIONED WAY. Ha! There is nothing easy about recovering from surgery. There is nothing easy about eating 4 oz per meal and needing to take a half hour to do so. There is nothing easy about trying a new food and find yourself having a dumping reaction to it. We could go on and on. There are simply people that no matter what the weight won't come off. There is a genetic predisposition to becoming obese for many and a metabolism that won't cooperate. Having surgery and the tool simply, in my opinion, puts you on par with those whose metabolism is highly functional. Evens the playing field so to speak. But certainly there is nothing easy about it. Be proud of your decision. Embrace it. Use it and quit finding excuses for it to fail. Good luck!!!!!
  10. Definitely worth it. One week post op and from wearing a 22-24 3 months ago yesterday I put on a pair of size 20 Capri jeans comfortably. Haven't worn them in over 2 or 3 years. Just came back from a mile long walk ! My surgery was LAST WEDNESDAY!!!!! Yahoo!!!
  11. Hi all- many of you may already be using this brand, but I purchased several sample packets of Bariatric fusion Protein powder. First of all- omg! I'm in love! Not a single smelly protein taste to it! And I can even drink it mixed with milk which I normally can't do with other brands! Has 27 g of whey protein as first ingredient. I'm drinking strawberry sundae right now. The cappuccino and mint chocolate ice cream flavors are awesome as well! Just thought I would share!!!
  12. And the thing is- I can't see any difference. And I will not step on the scale until next week Tuesday for my post op visit. After that- once a week max. I hate being tied to it. Thank you! When was your surgery??
  13. Here is a NSV 7 days post op- this am in my closet for the heck of it I grabbed a pair of size 20 Capri jeans I couldn't get over my hips let alone ZIP 4 weeks ago. Guess what? I'm wearing them right now!!! And they look good on me!!!! Yahoo!
  14. I'm guessing that what you are experiencing is called head hunger. We THINK we are hungry. Our new little stomach is not actually hungry. I'm 5 days post op and have dealt with this twice. However- if your liquid diet is like mine- you are drinking your Protein shakes in between meals which also keeps the hunger at bay. And when you aren't doing any of THAT, you should be sipping away at your Water, crystal light, tea etc. just get up- walk around a bit and it will pass!!!
  15. I was told no gummy anything ever again after bypass....
  16. Seem to be doing better. I e been up for regular walks. Weather here has been great. No issues with throwing up or anything. The largest of the incisions still burns and is painful and no BM yet. No hunger- not even head hunger yet.
  17. I'm two days post op. No gas pain but two of my incisions are seriously painful. The largest one and the one over my belly button. Horrid bruising there as well but it actually burns when I try standing or sitting.
  18. Ooh. I have to stop drinking the thirty minutes around my protein shakes as well?
  19. I was never so happy to be allowed to drink water! Lol. Here's my question- I'm not having any issues with liquids/jello going down. Is this odd? Ive been sipping all day without feeling bloated, full or any other odd feeling. Is this normal? I know people worry about getting their ounces in. I managed to drink 62 today. Tomorrow I add my Protein shakes- in between "meals". Am I doing ok here or overdoing?
  20. Well, here I am. Yesterday after the surgery was horrid. Took forever to get me out of recovery- apparently I had a hard time waking up. I have no recollection. But the "gas" pain in my back and shoulders and the center of my chest was beyond unbearable. Finally dissipated by 2 pm today- about 24 hours. Only area that hurts is the largest of the incisions. I'm now home- at my sisters though recovering. My house is like grand central station and here it is quiet. I'll stay for a few days
  21. May I ask- have you had to deal with a lot of excess skin? My biggest worry- hoping insurance will cover it if I have to have it removed. Surgery is tomorrow. Dang. Forgot to say you look amazing and healthy!!!!
  22. Well surgery is in the morning at 11:30 am- 3/23. I have spent the last two days inundated with last minute things- my daughter leaving for France on Friday, one of my sons had to get scheduled for wisdom teeth extraction next week. Monday I woke up shaky and crying- like when hormones overtake you when you're pregnant- no rhyme or reason you just start bawling. Lasted for a few hours and then I calmed down. Tuesday I saw my surgeon for my "day before" appointment. Begged him to let me have a turkey sandwich ( I was kidding!) and he said no way! I told him he was a bully and we laughed so it helped relieve some tension. Meanwhile it is 2:14 am and I can't sleep a wink. Never can when something important is happening the next day- like a trip or in this case surgery. Had a great conversation with my "Bariatric buddy" tonight and now I'm one hundred percent ready to go! But these last two days have been a crazy roller coaster.
