I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
Mine is November 19th - I'm excited and scared!!! I'm hoping to be back to work by Thanksgiving - since I will not be able eat - I figured I would work.

A Nov. Bandster Buddy???
I will also be banded on November 19th - I just got the date today. I live in Massachusetts and would love to keep in touch to compate notes. They are telling us here that they do not keep us overnight, they are sending people home the same day as the surgery. How about you?

Approved finally!!!
My first appt with the surgeon was in February 2008, by the time my paperwork was sent in to my insurance - they make us go through a 6 month wait. I finally completed it on October 2 and was finally given a surgery date of 11/19th. Boy was this quite the journey. My surgeon does not require a 2-week pre-op liquid diet but he will not operate if we gain any weight. As usual, I avoid the scale so now I have to tackle it because I have 1 month to get ready for this.

Which proteins work well with the band?
I'm curious, my insurance was just approved and I'm just waiting for a date to be scheduled. For those of you who have been successful, which proteins were easy to digest with the band? I'm not a fish lover - just shellfish. And what about eggs???

How do you get the tickers from Tickerfactory onto your profile??

What did you think of the 6 month program? How much time passed between the completion and the surgery date?

Has anyone completed Tufts 6 month program?
Has anyone out there completed the 6 month program that Tufts requires you to complete? If so, how did it go?

How much walking after surgery
I'm still going through my 6 month waiting period before I get approved and hopefully will be ready by October or November. My question is - everyone says that after surgery, you should do alot of walking to get rid of the gas. How much walking per day are we talking about?

Are there anyone getting band oct,nov 2008 come on board
I am currently going through the 6 month wait period that my insurance requires. If all goes well, I'm looking at late Oct/early Nov for my surgery.

Company switching from BCBS of Mass to Tuft's
I've been very frustrated having to wait the 6 months. I started doing everything in January and I'm gaining weight, not losing. If all goes well, I will be eligable for surgery in October (that's a total of 10 months from when I started). But even then , the surgeon said it takes another 3 weeks to schedule the surgery. And if I get denied, then all this time wasted was for nothing.

Need DOC in mass. for my band
What part of MA are you looking for? There are some very good doctors in Western MA

Company switching from BCBS of Mass to Tuft's
I have Tufts - they make you go through a 6 month "I Can Change" program. They are phone appointments with a counselor. I just finished the first 2 months. Tufts will only cover the lapband if you have high cholesterol, diabetes or another medical condition OR you must have a BMI of 40 or higher. Good luck!

So What Exactly is a Stress Test?
I had a stress test. They make you walk the treadmill at the pace that's most comfortable for you and once your heartbeat gets to the point they are looking for, you can stop at any time. Mine came back with a slight blip which they said could be a false positive for someone my age (45) so I had to go back. The 2nd test they inject you with something, you walk the treadmill again and then they have a machine check the bloodflow to your heart. Mine was fine.

What's a reasonable cost for a Psych Eval?
Mine charged $210 - but my insurance is paying for it. I just had to pay the co-pay ($25) and he is making me go back. I have to keep a food journal and exercise journal.

Psychiatric Consult
I'm definitely following the plan with the "health coach". I just don't want the psychiatrist to mgive me an ultimatum like "lose 3 pounds by our next appointment or you fail". I'll find out this week.

Psychiatric Consult
I have an appointment for the psych consult next week for the Lap Band. I'm currently on a 6 month plan with my insurance company where I meet with a health coach by phone (I'm actually enjoying those meetings). The psychiatrist told me that he will be giving me a weight loss plan to follow also. Can they do that? I thought they just needed to qualify us for surgery.

what if BMI Lower after 6 mo diet BCCS diet?
That was the question I asked my surgeon at my initial appointment because I'm 10 - 12 pounds away from going below a 40. He said that they go by what your initial weight is at your first appointment. I still don't trust that though.

5 weeks no word
I would call the insurance company to make sure they received it and if so, ask when they are going to notify. I keep calling if I don't hear from them with-in a reasonable amount of time and that seems to help.
