  1. I was banded on the 4th- 2 days ago. My surgeon had me only drink water 1st day post op and start the protein drinks on day 2 which is today. I just got my first shake down. His instructions are to drink a shake over an hour, then the next hour water etc... I have to follow this for the next week and after day 8- to start adding soft/mushy foods. This surgery was also revision surgery for me
  2. I'm only 2 days post op so still on liquids but before the surgery, I got in the habit of buying the flat bread or bagel flats & would only eat 1/2 toasted with an egg or tuna or chicken salad on top. This way your still getting your bread but it's a flat piece
  3. I had the revision 2 days ago and am worried that this will happen to me also. The only saving grace I gave is the nutritionist gave me a plan before the surgery and to do it as well once I'm back to solid foods. For what my out of pocket expense this is, I'm praying that this will help me in this journey
  4. Oh and I found out my band had slightly slipped so now that's gone!!!
  5. Had the surgery yesterday. Still in the hospital. My surgeon said I had minimal scar tissue. Didn't take any pain meds and the pain is bearable. They still have me on ice chips, just waiting to switch to water
  6. I don't think the guy I know is on this. I do know that he did not go to the surgeons in my area that are well known & highly recommended. I'm sure if he were to consult with a surgeon near you- they can send him to a support group where he can talk to people in person. I was required to attend the support group meetings & there were men there
  7. A guy that I used to work with got the sleeve a year ago. He said it's the best thing he ever did. It was talking to him that I decided to move forward with the revision surgery.
  8. It's easier to sit on the edge of the chair if you're sitting at the table. Prevents you from slouching forward
  9. I'm going in for my revision in 2 days. My Dr td me that after he does the surgery, he will be sliding a tube down me to check for any bleeding so he can see if there are any tears.
  10. Amber - My date is the same as yours!!! And - I'm feeling the same as you! I'm nervous & excited at the same time. Maybe we can compare notes afterwards - Lori
  11. Cowgirljane, Thanks for your feedback. I just needed to browse on the vets forum to see what to try "not to do" - I don't want to fail with the sleeve like I did with the band. Surgery is in 4 more days. I'm scared but ready to start this new journey.
  12. So happy you are sharing your post op experiences now since I'm scheduled Wednesday for my revision. I have been on this site more these past couple of weeks to get a better idea of what to expect
  13. As I'm approaching my revision surgery, I found this page fascinating to read because these are my fears - the future years with the sleeve since I failed with the band. I do have a question though - what is the 5:2 that you all keep talking about? Your stories have been inspiring and I hope I can be as successful as you. Lori
  14. Thanks!! As the date approaches, I'm starting to get stressed with nerves.
  15. I'm in Western MA - anyone else out here?
  16. As the revision date gets closer - I'm getting more & more nervous
  17. I'm also worried about the same things. Going through the revision next week myself
  18. Caren, How long did you have the band? What was making the first few weeks so tough?
  19. BeagleLover, Was your surgery revision surgery? If so - when were you banded?
  20. I haven't been sleeved yet but this is my biggest fear
  21. Best of luck to you. It's good you went to another doctor
  22. I was also banded in 2008. Having the revision next week and starting to get nervous
  23. Were they worried that the vomiting would open up the staples?
  24. How were you feeling while at the hospital?
