600 pound life!
Yep I remember that one. Dude's name was Robert. He was barely 40 years old too. That's literally the only episode out of the many seasons that happened that way. The best ones are the "Where are they now?" episodes where you get to see a good amount of the folks from the previous seasons after they've lost a ton of weight and all the struggles and successes they had after the 1st show they were on. There were a couple few folks that ended up dying after their shows aired. That's just life though, unfortunately.

Drinking While Eating and Pouch Question
Sorry for the nOOb questions I know is probably explained well somewhere on here, but I want up to date feedback... #1 Why exactly can't you drink while eating? Not even a sip to wash something down? What if something gets stuck in your throat and you need to drink? What's the thing with straws? #2 If you no longer have your pyloric sphincter in place to keep food in your stomach/pouch, how in the world do you ever feel full? How does everything not just immediately go from esophagus to pouch to small intestine? How long does solid food stay in the pouch? Same with Liquids? EDIT: #3 How is food kept from backing up into the part of the intestine marked by #3 in this picture and moving back towards the old stomach?

Effects of Nutrient Deficiency on Skin
@mousecat88 Here's my face shortly after starting keto. Mind you, I was 37 in this pic, now 38. I had pimples ALL over...the sides of my nose, sides of my neck, my chest...you name it, there was probably a pimple there. Tiny bumps, big bumps...its was awful so I feel your pain. Now It's all clear. Beating insulin resistance with surgery AND diet will take care if it eventually.

Effects of Nutrient Deficiency on Skin
I truly think the acne troubles could be part of your body trying to heal insulin resistance. Most people that are significantly over weight will have some level of IR. Good news is, due to having the surgery, your metabolic processes will eventually stabilze and your face will start to clear. This happened to me when I started eating keto...it took about 2-3 months to chill out and has been chilled ever since I would break out like I was 13 and those zits would HURT!

Effects of Nutrient Deficiency on Skin
I was doing my morning obsessive reading and came upon this interesting PubMed article that gives a nice, comprehensive list outlining the effects of macronutrient/micronutrient deficiencies on your skin. Linky to the article..."Skin changes after bariatric surgery" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4371663/ A screenshot of the chart for quick reference is below. Life without NSAIDS?
- Life without NSAIDS?
Nope, that was the first IUD they gave me and I broke out like a pubescent teenager too LOL Honestly my cramps only last like a day or 2. They aren’t unbearable but you know, when you can pop a pill and make it all go away, then you do it and usually just mindlessly.- When did you go back to work?
Folks I work with are like family. So far, everyone has been supportive of my choice to do the surgery, but I'm wondering how true people really are sometimes. Did any of ya'll return to work and expect support, but notice people (or a person) change how they interact with you?- Life without NSAIDS?
Girl, I'm sure! I have a 17 year old and 8 year old. If I have any more kids, they'll be inherited from the next person I decide to date LOL My body does not like pregnancy. Definitely going to look into this. Was is painful?- Life without NSAIDS?
This sounds magical OMG I'd love to never have a period again. My factory is closed indefinitely! LOL- Tell Me Your Pre-op Timeline
That's good info. Every document I have, including a 191 page Anthem BC/Prudent Buyer EOC, says nothing about nutrition visits required, doctor letters, 3 years of diet history attempts, etc...which honestly means nothing. That stuff could be mentioned elsewhere in document I don't have that's exclusive to my employer's plan selections. The only thing mentioned is the requirement BDCSC facility and 40 BMI. We just went through open enrollment so I really just need a policy number so I can call Anthem myself and see what the stipulations of my particular policy are. Not knowing is driving me insane. Hopefully we'll get our cards in the next couple weeks. When did you have your surgery (or when is it scheduled)?- When did you go back to work?
I’m curious how long other folks were off work after bypass. My surgeon said most people can get back after just a week. After his own bypass, he was performing surgery again in just 7.5 days after ?- 600 pound life!
Back to the My 600lb life thing...I saw these today and nearly died! They’re just plain little spiral bound journals ? https://www.redbubble.com/people/splendorittrash/works/34608386-dr-now-my-600-lb-life?carousel_pos=1&p=spiral-notebook&ref=work_carousel_work_recommendation&ref_id=31656133- 1st Surgeon Appointment Today <insert internal scream>
It's this scale, but the Tanita website is showing it discontinued. The models that replace it are at the bottom of this site. https://www.tanita.com/es/tbf-300a/ Pretty rad looking! The newer model says "Within 5% of DEXA, at a fraction of the cost"....that's how it read my true body fat weight! WANT- Tell Me Your Pre-op Timeline
Nice!!! I have Anthem Blue Cross (non-California, I'm in Texas, employer is based in Cali)...well, I WILL have it when January 1st rolls around. We just finished open enrollment. I'm going nuts because I don't know the policy requirements yet like nutrition visits, etc. and I can't call because I don't have any policy/ID numbers yet. I do know bariatric is covered from the basic paperwork we were given on the plan. I'm just too impatient LOL- Tell Me Your Pre-op Timeline
Congrats! Holy cow, that's quick! Who's your insurance?- Protein infused water
I'm SO glad you asked this! - Life without NSAIDS?
