  1. I have seen many, many band people not even get close to losing what they should. I researched this topic and then talked to my surgeon and he said the safety on both were equal. I was sleeved Tuesday and so far, so good!! I did not want to doc every month for check ups. I did not want to worry about rejection, or infection, or the band corroding while in my stomach. So do not let a few make you feel bad. I have seen many people on here who had the band and are now getting the sleeve. So to each his own.
  2. I am day 3 post op. I feel better today, no pain at all. The only real pain I had was right after surgery until the next day. It was all gas pain, throughout my whole body. Especially my back and chest! I have not had one problem getting things down.. I even swallowed my bp medicine the next morning and take all of my. I take all of my medications without cutting or crushing. If I drink to fast, I will feel what feels like gas in my chest. I just take deep breaths and they go right away. Walking does wonderful the day after surgery. I was up all night at hospital so I got a lot of walking in. Not so much since I have been home. My stomach has not even been that sore since they took drain out. I do have pretty bad headaches! I really thought I would drop a good amount of weight directly after the surgery but I did not. I am only down one pound, which I am concerned about. I have not had anything to eat since last Friday except the liquids and Protein. I am hoping it is just all the fluids they gave men while there. I was amazed that I did not have not one bit of trouble swallowing. They let me suck on ice chips the night after surgery but I was taking small sips of the Water. Did not really know I couldn't. The next morning they brought me ice chips with blue food coloring and had me eat it. The blue color did not come out of my drain, so I was good to go. I then was given ice water and Protein drinks and they tasted delicious. So other than headaches and being tired, I am doing great. Plan on taking a walk tomorrow!

    Any Missouri people

I really was not supposed to drink until swallow test but I did not know it until next morning. The swallow test was just ice with blue food coloring. They do that to make sure there are no leaks at the surgery site. I had a drain and if the drain would have showed blue, I had a leak. It did not so I got to come home. Brown suga. I am not sure what nurse visit you are talking about. Sorry
  4. I went to True results and they took care of every detail!! My insurance covered but the copay was around $3900.00 and True Results financed that portion with not interest!! I had my surgery yesterday and I am looking forward to the end results!

    Any Missouri people

I had my surgery yesterday with Dr. Minkin (highly recommend) at the St. Clare Surgery Center, Fenton, Mo. I had to do a 3 day all liquid diet. That sucked!! I do not know how some on this site doing 7-14 day liquid diets do it! By the time I go t! o the surgery center yesterday, I was weak and feeling like crap. I was in surgery for about 45 minutes and that included repairing a hernia that I did not know I had. I am not going to lie, when I woke up it was hell!! They finally got pain meds going like they should have and I got brief periods of pain relief. Not sure if I had a reaction to the pain meds, but I was very restless and could not stop moving and hurting. They finally gave me some benydryl and I got about 45 minutes sleep. But, beings I could not sleep, I did a whole lot of walking in. The walking helps considerably!! My back and shoulder were killing me. They ended up giving me pain meds every hour which helped. It was the gas that they give you making my back an diaphragm hurt!!The incision sites were a little sore . The tube site was very sore and when I got that out it was a huge relief. So, I came home today. Other than some of the gas still with me, I feel pretty good!! I have to brag on the staff at the surgery center. They were all So supportive, and helpful and took wonderful care of me. I was able to suck on ice chips and take small sips of Water all night. That did not hurt at all. When I finally got to have a Protein drink, it did not hurt at all going down. I even took my blood pressure pill. I have been drinking and eating popsicles ever since! So, so far it has been very worth it, when I keep my long term goal in mind!! One of the most painful things was when the pulled the drain tube out this morning! But it went pretty fast and my belly where it was at is not near as sore as it was while it was in there! Dr. said I could have a cup of coffee or some decaf tea, on these 7 days clear liquid diet! If the coffee and tea did not bother me. I stopped on the way home and got a big ole glass of regular tea with sweetener and it tasted amazing. I have had a super, super dry mouth since surgery, It is eventually getting better! So just wanted to share what my experience was! Good luck everyone!!

  9. I am new to this site. I got my approval for my gastric sleeve yesterday!! They told me to start a 3 day liquid diet and the Protein shakes. My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday Jan. 26th. 3 days from now. It seems like all I am reading on here is longer diet times. I got on here to see if I can have de-caf coffee and tea. Does anyone know/
