  1. And, that's it. My insurance will not cover anything. So unless I can find a money tree with 12,111 dollars on it, I'm sunk. Sad....
  2. Physical part done. Surgeon consult done. Now I'm waiting for the insurance lady to come in. This is going too easily. Kind of scary.....Dr Wagner said usually his patients go home the day after, and I should be able to go back to work in a week. Now pray for good insurance feedback!
  3. I'm here! Sitting on the table, in the lovely paper product clothing ensemble! Waiting on doc for a physical exam. Kinda embarrassing, I didn't shave above my knees....hopefully he doesn't check too much in the lower areas. Then the nurse said I will be moved to another room.....it's an experience! I did see several women in the waiting room, around my size. And one came out who looked amazing and made an appointment for her two year check. I hope I can look that good a year out! More updates as we get into this!!
  4. I googled it, it says that certain plans cover it. One lady at my work got the gastric bypass done And she was self pay. She said they wouldn't cover it, but I'm more inclined to think that she didn't want to go through the motions....so I am hoping I can get covered if I do everything to the letter.
  5. Thanks Brown Suga! I woke up this morning super nervous......sigh. I hate medical offices...
  6. Thank you :-) I'm hopeful that Cigna will cover. I have heard both sides from different people so who knows....I can't find anything online about which plans accept and which ones don't
  7. No, I haven't called. The surgeons office said they would get that process started so hopefully they can get it done!
  8. I am seeing my surgeon for the first time tomorrow! I've been hanging right around 309 for the last 10 years and I am tired! My PCP gave me this referral so I'm hoping that helps me move right along with the process. The part that scares me the most is the insurance possibly saying no.....
  9. I'm heading to Dr. Wagner's office on Tuesday for my first visit! I'll post for you after!
  10. Prayers being said and good luck coming your way! I finally went to a PCP in December after 14 years of never going! He immediately agreed to a referral for the gastric sleeve. My appointment is Tuesday for the surgeon. We will see where we go from there! Maybe we will be surgery buddies!
  11. I wake myself up sometimes....maybe I should ask to have the sleep study done. I was pre-diabetic when they did my blood work. My doc said it wasn't worrisome yet but just to be aware of what I am eating. Maybe it will be enough to make them lean my way! Can't wait til Tuesday to get more information!!
  12. I have Cigna as well. Just starting my journey. My PCP gave me a referral to the surgeon, so I meet with him next Tuesday. It will be interesting to see what all they will require before I start!
  13. Good luck! Can't wait to hear from you when you get done!
  14. Thanks Oh, I love all things chocolate. So that sounds good to me!
  15. I'm with you on all of that! I'm going next Tuesday to see my surgeon for the first time, and we will begin the process! I'm hearing different things about what I will have to do for my insurance to cover, 3 month or 6 month supervised diet, so until I know more, I'm in limbo! It's nerve-wracking and exciting. I just want to get started so I can get living again. And the part I dread? The excess skin! Ugh
  16. Lots of prayers for you! I am getting ready to start the seemingly never ending process myself so I am following!!
  17. Will you all let me know what protein shakes you bought and if you like or dislike them? I am going to be ready to do a pre surgery prep :-)
  18. This entire post was so great. Frank, my thoughts are with you today, as you begin your new phase of life. Hopefully I will be joining you before the year is over. My first visit to the surgeon is next Tuesday, and we go from there. I think my insurance requires some months on a supervised diet, bah. My opinion of that is that if we could do this on a diet, we wouldn't be looking for other options! But I'll jump through the necessary hoops for the coverage....
  19. Those of you that are post op, what was your downtime?? I drive a bus and was wondering about how long to take off, when the time arrives...
  20. Anxious about my Cigna as well. Can you tell me what all was necessary to get approval??
  21. Hey, Giveemmel. I have several friends who have used him and that's who my PCP referred me to. I don't know if having the referral will help speed my process but I am hopeful! The sooner the better!
  22. I'm in STL. First consult on 2/3/16 with Dr Wagner!
  23. I have my initial consult with Van Wagner on 2/3/16. I don't know what to expect, Cigna is my insurance. So happy to see other STL people here! Please keep posting so I can follow some people close by!
