  1. Great Job Beth. Glad you're here. Where did you get your surgery done at?
  2. HI Sonya! Welcome. For me there was no other way to lose weight....I tried it all! Best of luck for Tuesday and look forward to hearing how it goes.
  3. Couldn't have said it better myself!
  4. Before my surgery the nurse gave me a pill for nausea and then a couple hours after surgery I had another pill and I have not experienced any nausea at all. The pain....well the worse part on operation day was them sticking 2 huge IV needles in me (I'm a baby). After that it was smooth sailing. Walking 3 hours after surgery didn't really hurt. Then when I came home gas was pretty bad but nothing the liquid pain meds they gave me couldn't control. I hate being in pain and I am all all for taking pain meds and I stopped pain meds I think 3 days post-op and feel pretty good physically today. Long story short...yes they will give you meds.
  5. 8 pounds already! YGG! You are really gonna lose weight when you get banded. Good JOB!

First I just wanted to say a lot depends on your insurance or self-pay. I have really good insurance so my timeline was pretty quick after psych appointment. Went to free seminar on 1/19/08 Psych Eval and nutrionist appointment on 2/8/08 Approved for surgery on 2/18/08 Pre-op appointment on 2/21/08 Surgery was 3/3/08. I could have saved about 1-2 weeks if I didn't wait so long after seminar to see the Psych but my work schedule was hectic.
  7. There must be something about DAY 3 because on day 3 for me I was so depressed and was starting to regret what I did. I just wanted to eat what I thought was normal again. But like someone above said, actually it's not normal. I was living to eat. I thought about food every waking moment, no really I did! Now that I am 6 days post-op things are looking up for me. I don't feel that sadness and grief for food. Don't get me wrong if I could pig out, honestly I would but since I can't then I drink some Water and deal with it. I think when we move up in the phases of what food we can eat I really do think it will be better. I'm already looking forward to soup! It will be ok and it's great we have all these vets to go to for help. I would be lost without this site.
  8. I visited "plastic-ville" before I got the band........I had Full Tummy Tuck and muscle/hernia repair. I have a physical type job. Up and down, stooping and walking and picking up heavy packages etc...so my Dr. first wanted me out for 3 weeks but when I did to much to fast my swelling got really bad and the drains had to stay in for an extra week so I was out a total of 4 weeks. Here are some pics PictureTrail
  9. I'm still in liquid phase so I had: total of 3 sugar free popsicles, 2 botles of Water and working on my 3rd. and about 5 sugar free candies totally dissolved in my mouth bfore I swallowed. The only thing I'll eat/drink for the rest of the night is water. I miss Diet coke so much but my Dr. told me that all sodas, even diet are strictly off limits. And any kind of potaotoes.......I can't have any type of starch for at least another month. :smile2: At least your Dr. is more generous in what you can eat. Must be nice.
  10. This is me 100%. Not sure if I'm actually "hungry" but oh how I miss eating. It seems ever since I got banded there are 5 times as many food commercials on. Before when my husband or kids would make something to eat I didn't even really notice but now I'm like a blood hound. I know I made the right decision as far as weight loss but I'm not very happy now in fact I'm pretty sad. I just want a regular meal, not even a fattening meal just someting I can eat with a FORK!
  11. Hi again, is being bloated normal? I look 6 months pregnant!
  12. I was told that I had to go on clear liquids the day before my surgery at noon and let me tell you I was eating like there was no tomorrow up until 11:59 that day. I think 12:01 was when last bon bon hit my happy belly.
  13. Thank you so much! Well I kind of did cheat. My Dr. said I can suck on hard candy so I went to Wal-greens and stocked up on sugar free hard candy. While I was there I saw suger free hershey chocolates. So I got one and let it dissolve totally in my mouth before I actually swallowed. But I had too, it's that time of the month and the monster inside me took over. I promise I will not cheat anymore. :tt2:
  14. No you aren't the only one by a long shot and at least you did it before the band was on. Oh  if only I could go back a couple days before my surgery............ Don't beat yourself up. Soon you're getting the band and you wont be able to do that (no matter how addicted you are to food, believe me I know) so just see it as getting BK out of your system. {{{HUGS}}} you'll be fine.
  15. I called again to make sure, lol. And that is exactly what they told me too. But I only paid that 40 fee (mine was 30 actually) when I saw my Dr. at my pre-op appointment. Paid the $100 when I pre-admitted at the hospital and that is it. SO far no bills in the mail so we'll see how my meds were worded. RCG~ You should not have to pay that much! I would make sure the hospital get's it striaght with BCBS that it is not an implant and make sure they have the right CPT code also. Good luck.
  16. LOL LOL LOL not at your chipped tooth, you know what I mean.
  17. I love the original ones, are the sugar free ones as good?
  18. I wish so badly that my husband would have done this with me. It's very hard for him to understand how important my Dr.s diet is. For example, he brought home shrimp this afternoon from fish restaurant and was like "here, these won't hurt you"! UGH!!! These were the biggest butterflied shrimp I ever seen. My eyes filled with tears and of course like a man he was like "what did I do wrong now". :cursing:Be so glad that he is willing to do this with you, I think it's great and envy all couples on here that do it together!
  19. Hi again. First I wanted to say I LOVE THIS PLACE! I so see you guys as friends and look forward to logging on everyday. My question is, I'm wondering if I am eating to much. Should I be able to eat a whole SF Jello cup at one time (I eat about 2-3 a day)? I eat very little bites at a time but I can finish the whole thing in a couple minutes. Also with the SF popsicles; I eat about 3 a day. I drink 10 oz of SF apple juice and about 50-60 oz. of Water a day. That's my diet and next week I can go to Protein drinks. I'm just worried now if I shouldn't be eating all that jello and popsciles. Also if I just had to "cheat" what could I safely be able to eat? Not saying I would but just in case I break down while I'm out and about this weekend. Big, huge..... GIGANTIC milestone for me: Haven't had Diet Coke since Noon Sunday, that's 5 whole days. OMG!!!!!!!!!! :tt2: I really thought I couldn't do it, neither did my kids or hubby! I FRICKEN SHOWED THEM! P.S. I'm going to wal-greens now to weigh myself. I'll update when I get back.
  20. Hi. I wasn't hungry until about an hour ago when hubby made baked chicken and mashed potatoes. I never wanted to just taste real food so bad. I'm on Clear liquids, Jello and popsicles for another week then I think I can go to Protein drinks and maybe Soup. I hope so! I find out at my next Dr. Appointment. I walked a little bit more today and only took pain meds once. I'm getting cabin fever and can't wait until I can shower, sleep and work like I used too. Glad everyone else is doing so well. I hope I can keep up this diet...it's so so so so so hard.
  21. Also, I remember when I called before surgery the rep. at BCBS told me it is better to be "INPATIENT". Maybe that is where the costs might come from. If you are outpatient then you may not be covered as much as inpatient. I hope you find the answers you need.
  22. Hi. I also have FED BCBS Basic and just got banded on 3/3/08. I stayed 1 night in the hospital so I had to pay the $100.00 and co-pay of $30.00 when I see my Dr. I was also approved very quick. I received a letter from BCBS and I'll quote parts of the letter. "The following procedure has been approved as medically necessary as defined by the member's Health Care Benefits booklet or Summary Plan Description" Goes on to state my Physician, facility treatment setting ; which states "Inpatient Acute". "Service Procedure Code: 43770 The service Procedure Description " LAPAROSCOPY, SURGICAL GASTRIC RESTRICTIVE PROCEDURE; PLACEMENT OF ADJUSTABLE GASTRIC BAND ( GASTRIC BAND AND SUB CUTANEOUS PORT COMPONENTS)" Does not say anything about "implant". I called to make sure my provider and hospital was a "participating provider" and in-network provider and facility, and thankfully they are!
  23. Thank you guys so much! I'm glad I'm not the only one who still takes pain meds. As of now I might not need it anymore though, I feel ok. I can't believe I'm only 3 days post op. It feels like so long ago I had the surgery, lol. The only think I am eating/drinking is water, very little SF (sugar free) juice, 2 sf jello cups a day and 1-2 SF popsicles. Oh and last night had a cup of chicken broth. LAst night (tonight) was the fisrt night I slept on my side in my bed. It was great! I can't wait to sleep on my tummy again. Thanks again
  24. Hi, I was wondering if you guys are still on pain meds? Also, what are you guys drinking and how much. Are you all hungry yet? Do you have bandages over your incisions? When are you guys allowed to shower? How do you guys sleep? Do you know when we can sleep on our side? TIA I look forward to reading your experiences thus far.
