  2. I don't know you, but I think I'd hang you upside down too. This is the best post ever.
  3. I'm doing MUCH better. Still struggling with some foods. My doc wants me to move on to soft but I can't keep them down if it isn't super saucy or in a soup. I'm having a hard time with meds: theoretically, I don't have to crush them but I have to or they make me retch, like bad bad retch. Yuck. Weight is fallling off like water. It's very surreal. I'm used to weight loss being a misery I have to fight ever oz to get. It kinda doesn't feel very real.
  4. @@Sophie74656 Thanks so much!!! I'm going to try this. I wanted to stay on liquids for a while longer, but my surgeon is giving me fuss. He wants me to weed in as much soft foods as I can.

Hey folks, I'm two week post-op and I'm technically in soft-foods, but they need to be REALLY saucy or in soup to stay down. Anyone have any good recipes for vegetable-based sauces outside of the tomato and squash family?

  11. I second the kick your husband in the gnads. Now, I was sleeved on 4/21 and I have a toddler and a 6yo. I was in the hospital for a few extra days because I couldnt keep anything down. I was surprised though, that as soon as I got home I perked up very quickly. I'm doing housework, etc etc now one week out, and Im only napping once a day. My doc said to arrange assistance for a week after surgery and then I should be fine. I'm going to be on my own with him tomorrow. We're potty training, so hurrah! When I broke my ankle, we had to put my toddler in daycare for a few weeks. They were fine with it being temp. Can you do this for a week if your husband won't take a week off to help? Or can you call your mama and ask her to come out?
  12. Me, me too please!!!! 4/21
  13. Okay, so here's what got MY stomach working: cream of wheats, it's even more easily digested than oatmeal. You might want to give that a try. In the hospital I couldn't handle the Protein Powder, but at home I put sugar free cocoa powder and chocolate protein powder or unflavored to make it cocoa wheats, and I LOVED IT. I drank it super thin, just like you.

  15. Just got sleeved yesterday. Mine hasn't gone as smoothly. The pain was pretty high, but mostly in my back and shoulders which is apparently very common (comes from the gas the use to inflate you) and I had a hernia they had to repair that none of us knew about. I'm doing much better pain-wise now, but I can't keep down any liquids. It's upsetting. Doc sez its worse for me right now because of the hernia. I'm crossing my fingers I keep down this broth that's coming. They won't let me go home until ican tolerate fluids.
  16. I'm in the burbs Tracie! My day is the 20th. All liquid for me. Have a low cal snack for me right now if you can. Day 2 and I'm already so sick of these shakes I could barf!Me too @PissiChrissi. I'm in NWI, in Munster. Where's your surgery? At Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove. You're going to the City? Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App Yep! University of Chicago. I didn't like the program at my hometown hospital. I wasn't impressed with the support staff and the surgeon seemed like an a-hole. I LOVE UC

  19. I'm on 4/21. I'm getting this done at UChicago, and my doc just has me on a very restrictive pre-op diet. I think it hits the same calories and nutrients as the liquid diets do, but we eat solid food as normal. Very high protein, very low cal, very low fat and carbs. It's...unpleasant, but now I'm looking at as a challenge. If people can fast for a month, I can do this.

  21. What kind of shakes are you guys using and where did you get them? My surgeon doesn't care what I use as long as I hit my protein count. I start preop diet on 04/05.

  25. @happyhealthymama I'm so JEALOUS. I've got a 6yo and a 3yo. I'd LOVE to go alone to the hospital, but I guarantee they'll all be there half the time. I'm trying to bribe my surgeon for an extra day.
