  1. Okay, so I made a trip to Walgreens tonight and bought some melatonin. I bought the 1mg bottle (compared to the 3mg) because I want to start off with as little as possible and see how that goes. If I end up needing more, I'll just take a pill or 2 more. Thanks again for the suggestion. Wish me luck! P.S. I also bought some Doan's backache medicine. I hope that helps as well.
  2. I'm 2 weeks shy of my 6 month anniversary and I'm down 60 pounds, as of today!! Best of luck to everyone!!
  3. I think I'm going to try melatonin before I hit the doctor up for some Lunesta. Thanks for the tip, Alexandra.
  4. Penni, thanks for this post. I've always been one that could fall asleep very easily and could sleep through a train wreck. However, recently I've been having a lot of trouble falling and staying asleep. I think that part of it is due to the recent return of lower back pain though. If it doesn't get better soon, I'm going to ask my doctor for a prescription for Lunesta. Thanks again!!
  5. My feet have become narrower but I haven't gone down a size...yet.
  6. Great NSV. Now you know that you can go out to eat and not be plagued by the food cravings. By the way, I absolutely LOVE Red Robin. My husband and I wish they were franchising 'cause we would open one in a hearbeat!
  7. Yeah, it's a pretty easy test except that, prior to banding, if I fasted too long, I would get horrible migraines. This was one of those times. Ugh!!
  8. Janet has pointed out some very good things about PCOS; however, not everyone that has PCOS has cysts on their ovaries. My sonogram ruled out cysts. I have a few of the other symptoms though, primarily obesity from the age of 11 or 12, which prompted my doctor to have me tested for it. I had to take a pill one evening that is supposed to shut down a particular gland and then fast until blood was drawn for testing the next morning. If the blood test showed that the particular gland was still at normal production, it confirmed that I had PCOS. My particular experience with PCOS has proven that I'm unable to lose weight without the help of the band. I've tried and tried, only to lose 30 or so pounds, stall for months on end, then get discouraged and gain it all back (and then some). Unfortunately, this is the case for some with PCOS. Being banded has helped me lose weight consistently and without stalling. I wish you the best!
  9. Ugh, I'm sorry to hear about your back pain. I hope it gets better soon!
  10. These are the instructions I received as well. Best of luck to you!
  11. Wow vines, thanks for this info. I've never known anyone with Cushing's and it's great to have more information on the subject. I hope that once you've had your blood work and find some sort of way to monitor/control it that you'll start losing weight again. *hugs*
  12. Congratulations on your weight loss as well as your victory with taking 10 steps!! That is so awesome. I love your spirit. *hugs*
  13. You will lose. I have faith. *hugs*
  14. Me too. I love raw broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, etc....yummy.
  15. Or, as Francis Ouimet's young caddy from the movie Greatest Game Ever Played would say "Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy" :biggrin1:
  16. That is so cool! I can't wait to see this in print. You go, girl!
  17. Tricia K. replied to Alexandra's topic in The Lounge
I had a good giggle after reading that one too.
  18. That's so odd. The support groups in my area are also run by the surgeons as well as additional medical staff from the local hospital. They've never once asked for money to attend the groups. I hope you find a reputable surgeon that doesn't require this fee.
  19. I'm so sorry that you're scared. But, once you have the surgery, you'll probably realize that your fears were unfounded. Having lap band surgery was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm extremely happy with my band and my progress thus far. I hope you get over your fear very soon. Good luck!!
  20. Oh wow! I've never heard of such a thing. Is the surgeon and his office requiring the $750 for the support group or is this a separate entity? If it's the surgeon and his office, it would seem to me as though their main focus is to squeeze as much money as they can out of people rather than helping them successfully lose weight.
  21. LOL...I can honestly say that I haven't had a problem eating filet mignon. As long as I take small bites and chew them very well, I'm good to go. I hope you decide to try it. At least you'll know whether or not you can tolerate it. Good luck!!
  22. Great idea! When tempted to eat something you know that you shouldn't, put on your walking shoes and take a 10 minute walk. When you return, drink at least 16 oz. of Water. This should (I hope) curb that temptation and fill you with pride for not giving in.
  23. LOL...I'm to that point now, Alexandra. Many people have made some good points here and it's nice to see all sides of the story. I truly just wanted some clarification as to why some people don't research prior to going under the knife. I just can't comprehend it. And, like I said before, I'm not picking on any group in particular. I'm just trying to point out that it's imperative to know everything that you can before undergoing surgery, of any type. So, Alexandra, if you wish to change the thread title to something you feel is more appropriate, I am all for it. Maybe it will alleviate some of the hard feelings.
  24. Have you tried V-8 Splash? I can't stand regular V-8 juice but this stuff is yummy.
  25. I'm happy to hear that your surgery went well. Pain after surgery is normal for most people. There are those rare occasions when someone has such minimal pain that they don't require pain meds. In any event, welcome to bandland and I hope you have a speedy recovery.
