  1. @@NoMoBand Hi Jake! He is down 17 lbs since his surgery on may 2! He is doing well with meeting his protein and water requirements. He is doing well with soft foods and I am longing to be on them as well. One more day for me☺
  2. Yea, I am a believer of being proactive! Don't wait on others if you can find out yourself!
  3. Maybe 4 business days. But from what I am seeing, I think BCBS of AZ (Fed group tho) is exemplary and may be the exception to the rule.

  5. I'm so grateful my surgeon doesn't believe in pre-op diets, lol. But yes, I was very relieved to have a 730 AM case, so I understand why you are so upset. I was a wreck for about a week prior and the night before I was at the point of acceptance of it. Still scared, still unsure of what was to come, but at least accepted it. I'll be praying for you
  6. @@albare1978 Plus when you call, you can ask if your case has been received!
  7. Yes, call! They will tell you. My husband was approved in 1 day, but the letter didn't come saying so for 3 more days! Mine took a couple days and letter followed, but I still called
  8. AAAgh! I would have been spitting fire! That is a terrible policy!
  9. Seriously??? OMG, that's utterly ridiculous! I called several times to BCBS AZ (Fed plan) and was treated so well and all my questions were answered. Yes, they had their requirements and the surgeon had his, but they should still quote benefits. I did medical billing for 13 years and this is the norm!
  10. @@Julie norton Thanks Julie! I was so freaking terrified. I can't even accurately describe how terrified I was. So glad it is over, lol.
  11. @@Laura Lopez I've never heard of that insurance but even more importantly, I've never heard of an insurance company NOT giving you your benefits. I would call them back and ask for the supervisor. If she tells you the same thing, ask who CAN give you the benefits. Something doesn't smell right!
  12. Six days out now. It was rough! Had a hiatal hernia again too, so post op pain was very bad. Spent 2 nights in the hospital but at least I can say I am sleeved Thank you Jesus!
  13. Pffffft. What insurance do you have? Call the insurance yourself and/or look it up in your benefits book. The insurance staff at my office messed up on my husbands appts so I had to raise a stink about it. Ended up we submitted his case with only 2 NUT appts instead of 3 required.
  14. Hi, I think all insurance companies have requirements for conversion surgery. I just had my band converted to a sleeve 6 days ago. I'm so glad it is gone, but the whole process is an ordeal. So many hoops to jump through and then the surgery itself was rough for me. I have BCBS Fed. If you call member services on your insurance card or look in your patient benefit book, it should outline the requirements. @@Felisha602
  15. Hi there, my husband and I have BCBS Fed and we were both approved. Hubby had bmi at 38 with diabetes and other comorbidities and I had bmi of 38 with only sleep apnea. Hubby is a newbie....but i, like you, was a revision. The band was problematic for 10 years but finally decided to jump thru all the hoops. We actually switched from another insurance during open season because the insurance gal in the office said bcbs was the best for approvals of bariatric. Good luck!
  16. You look FABULOUS!!!!!
  17. I was converted on may 11. I am sore and kinda grumpy. I am having a lot of trouble meeting my protein goal, and this is only day 1.
  18. I am supposed to have my band removed tomorrow also; sleeve to be done only if it is safe. I hope I wake up sleeved! How are you feeling otherwise?
  19. @@dallas23 thank you! My husband was sleeved one week ago today and is doing well, down 10 lbs. I am gowing this Wednesday, so 9 days apart. I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack. I'm so so so scared!
  20. Do you still feel like backing out? I'm so scared and keep thinking of it too.
  21. Surgery started about 45 minutes late so that was beyond nerve-wracking. But surgeon just came out and said it went like clock work and was stabIle throughout. So relieved and thankful but i know the next few weeks are going to be hard for him. I'm not sure if should have mine done in just 9 days now. I'll see how he is doing the next couple of days.
  22. @@SusanB55, we have some things in common. I will be 56 in June, my surgery date is May10th (but I am having bypass) and I am also 5'5". Good luck to you! @@Gaylene Davison - my surgeon told me he had a 74yo woman who was very healthy and she had the surgery with no complications at all. I don't know if she had sleeve or RNY but he said she was an exception and he would not as a rule perform WLS on someone that age. It just depends on their health and motivation. How are you feeling as your surgery date gets closer? Honestly, I am scared to death and at times, I feel like backing out. We are leaving for hubby's surgery is 10 minutes. I feel nauseous.
  23. Thank you! Your words really uplifted me! So you were a revision also? Did your surgeon do both procedures in same surgery? Leaving in 30 minutes to take my husband. Anxious!
  24. I think I speak for many after reading your post, how are you doing? I haven't seen any replies from you. Hope you are ok. This post has kinda freaked me out as my hubby is being sleeved tomorrow and then me on the 11th. UGH.
