Ok I have to ask...are things going too well? Am I overdoing it?
If one listens to their body, they won't over -do it. Once you have your surgery you will understand. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App @@KristenLe you haven't had your surgery yet? I never would have known- you are doling out advice with the authority of a seasoned vet in every thread I post ! No offense at all, you are very sweet but I had no idea.

Wonderful to hear of your successful recovery, fitness and weight loss! Thank you for sharing. I actually DID get slammed with fatigue at the end of the day today and was in bed before 10! So you are right, it can catch up to you.

what to tell the surgeon?
It was a brief chat about why I wanted to have the surgery and my past weight history. The rest of the time was spent with the psychiatrist asking me to read his manuscript and send it to my publishing contacts. Similar experience to @@OutsideMatchInside I guess. Consequently, while I was waiting to go into surgery they left me in a room alone with my chart for some time so I was leafing through it and found the clearance letter that the shrink wrote. It was riddled with errors - he had my age wrong, he had my weight history way way wrong (I was not an overweight child or teenager, I gained most of my weight in the last few years) and he said I was "preoccupied with my appearance" which we didn't discuss at all. My guess was that it's just more of a form letter and he knows what to write so I'll get approved but jeez.

Ok cool. Thanks guys ! @@OutsideMatchInside "elation at not being dead" is a good way to put it. It was that and then elation at not struggling to drink Water, which I was super worried about because I love water. The posts about not being able to drink water kill me. I will definitely take it a little easier after this week. I'm heading up to the mountains for some R+R with family for a long weekend and by 2 and a half weeks post op I'll be on vacation in Mexico.

Ok I have to ask...are things going too well? Am I overdoing it?
Hey guys. I have a stupid question. Am I supposed to feel this good? I had surgery at around noon on Thursday 7/7. By 7:30 pm that night I was feeling great- I walked over a hundred laps around my unit and went home at 4 pm on Friday. Since then- no real issues. I've read about so many on this board. No constipation, no major fatigue, liquids are going down very easy, I don't even really have to sip and I'm getting over 60 grams of Protein (shakes) and at least 80 oz of fluids (mostly water) everyday. My urine is running clear and I'm not constipated. I'm sleeping better than I did pre-op and stopped taking pain meds yesterday. Yesterday and today I was out and about, shopping and helping out an elderly relative. I've been going for long walks in my neighborhood. This morning I competently handled some international business matters before 9 am. Tomorrow I'm planning to swing by my office to handle some business, walk around the city, get a facial and babysit my nephew. So this post is not a humblebrag. I'm seriously wondering- is something going to come smack in the face in a few days? Did anyone else feel totally fine after surgery? Is my perspective skewed from reading too many posts about complications?

OK, not trying to be mean, but there actually are stupid questions lol

Crackers
@@Kaze I respect the fuck out of anyone who can eat crackers in moderation. I could house a sleeve of saltines in a single 22 min episode of golden girls. So more power to you. I love that.

Crackers
@@Kaze honestly, I'm not with you on that but trying to keep my mouth shut so you get your answer re: types of crackers. I'm still really early post op, in full on carbs are the devil mode and am annoyed just seeing them on my plan.
-
Well :-(
Post was the opposite of offensive. I found it uplifting.
-
Crackers
Our plans look very similar but yours came in a fancy spiral bound book so I know we can't be in the same program!

Crackers
@@Kaze I don't know the logic behind my plan either, but I'm not sure that's it. I got the impression my nutritionist just isn't that great at her job. Also, she's been at odds with my surgeon on a couple of points so far and this might be one of them. But above all, they both emphasize protein first, then veggies so if you have room left over than you can have rice and pasta. They have both said they expect me to be getting protein from actual food, not shakes and powders by the soft food phase.

Crackers
You want your mind blown @@Babbs ? My nutritionists plan allows rice and pasta starting at the soft foods stage. ????

Liquid tylenol
That would be so much easier! But I'm only 3 days post op and my surgeon hasn't cleared me for pills yet. Honestly I'm not even in pain anymore and don't really need it but wanted to see the issue through. I think it's weird that there's no non sugary liquid acetaminophen readily available.

CALLING ALL JULY 2016 SLEEVERS
@@aree1020 Shakes yesterday and this morning. Tonight I put unflavored Genepro protein in chicken broth. I'm assuming protein will be just shakes and broth for the next 7 days until I hit purees.

Liquid tylenol
The Walgreens and rite aid versions I saw today both had high fructose corn syrup. I'll keep looking though.

Weigh Ins
Check with your insurance. I had a similar situation- I was required to do 6 months of weigh ins at PCP appts and was under the impression they had to be consecutive. I was out of the country and on deadline for work for most of my fourth month and couldn't make my appointment. It turned out my insurance DIDNT require they be consecutive. But I was freaked out about having to start over and didn't feel reassured until I made that phone call. My insurance is UHC Choice Plus and I got approved with no delay.

CALLING ALL JULY 2016 SLEEVERS
@@Swamprat You're lucky if you get ice chips! @@tlyons72 I enjoyed the versed and I liked the propofol used for my endoscopy. That was the best sleep of my life! So you're not alone on that. I'm on day 3 post op and got in 69 grams of protein and 81 oz of fluids today. They're going down easy. I'll keep sipping water until I fall asleep. Kind of amazed that I'm not having any issues with fluids. Must be one of the lucky ones.

Beach-Bikini Day
I love this post. I have this crazy theory that everyone looks their best in the beach in a bathing suit in the sunshine! Feel good, look good!

Liquid tylenol
Thanks for all the suggestions. Pharmacist wasn't able to come up with a diabetic offering but I'll try a much better pharmacy tomorrow. Not sure I really need pain meds much more anyway but worth investigating. The adult generic liquid acetaminophen they carried also contained high fructose corn syrup.

Post surgery Q - recovery
I had surgery on Thursday and felt pretty great yesterday - but I kept up with my pain meds and that's the reason I wouldn't have wanted to go to work. I woke up in pain and took them first thing in the morning. I didn't take them yet today and if today goes well I am considering swinging by the office tomorrow. You'll know if you feel up for it. I don't love the idea of being around coworkers and superiors while on codeine - it's strong stuff ! I've had a good recovery so far though. No trouble getting in fluids or Protein, good energy, I've been able to take long walks. So fingers crossed you feel great as well.
-
Liquid tylenol
Good idea! I'll ask my favorite pharmacist today.

how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?
According to my surgeon, my gastric sleeve took about one hour with a liver biopsy as well.
