  1. @@anm1979 I have UHC and they do have a limit on it. IIRC it was 6 months but you should double check with your specific plan.

    @@ShelterDog64 thanks I'll go look!
  3. How do you pee in all that? Not that I am dealing with tons of loose skin yet but I do have a lot of experience with shapewear - they make similar "vests" like these without the extended thigh coverage so you can just pull the panties to the side like you would with a one piece bathing suit when you need to pee, or, you know, have an inappropriate quickie.
  4. @@OutsideMatchInside $60 is pretty inexpensive for a bra, no? I'll check it out, thanks.
  5. So true. If you are like me and you live in a big city, hang out with lots of other young professionals everryonnnnnne is in the midst of some kind of a food thing. I can be like "Oh, I'm on a shellfish and dragonfruit cleanse, I heard Gwyneth does it" and literally no one would blink.
  6. The only person who really pays attention to what I'm eating is my mom. I eat at restaurants 4-5 times a week socially and no one has noticed. Like today for a work lunch, I ordered an octopus entree that came with about 5 small pieces of octopus, a piece of bread slathered in hummus and a side arugula salad. No one questions when you don't eat bread - plenty of people push aside the bread these days. I ate all the octopus and picked at the arugula. I eat so slow that by the time I was done the two men I was with had already polished off their half sandwiches and Soups and boom there was the waitress to take our plates away. I think once or twice I've said something like "I don't want to eat anything too rich because I'm busy later" or "I had a big lunch so I'm not that hungry" but probably more out of my own self-consciousness than any external prompting. At 3 weeks out I was on a trip with friends and ate 3 meals a day with them - seriously no one noticed. They just thought I was dieting, which everyone does sometimes.
  7. Hi there, I'm a blabbermouth myself in general but I had surgery and didn't tell a soul. It's doable.
  8. you got this!
  9. Whether in a pool, a lake or the sea, that always made me so self-conscious and humiliated. Sadly, I think I felt that way even at 160 or 170, a great, big apple. "Cheap" in terms of quality or in floozy terms? I'm really not sure which you mean. Oh, I am solely referring to quality. I live for floozy.
  10. @@OutsideMatchInside thank you! I will try the body by victoria. I have never heard of Soma - do they sell that brand at department stores? They do have some poor quality bras, but if you dig a little deeper, they have some super soft push up bras that give good coverage and a lot of support. When I get home, I will look for the style name for you. thanks!!!!

@@jenn1 thanks! the fig leaves one is worth trying I think! So far I ordered these, but I'm skeptical as most of the straps are sooo thick and the backs come so high. But I guess that's the only choice when you are trying to squish in the loose parts: I really loved the color and style of these two but they only have size 24. Size 24 ladies check them out!! They're beautiful.
  12. Thanks for the post. I am looking forward to loose skin being a problem at this point. Way preferable to fat for me. Which Victoria's Secret bra do you buy? I have never shopped there because it always felt cheap to me but someone gave me a gift certificate and I do need new bras.
  13. How mortifying. I will NEVER comment about my kids' weight to them like that. They already know they have weight issues. What good does constantly reminding them about do except make them feel like sh*t? It wasn't mortifying, because we were alone, and also because my weight was a regular topic. At this point, I was more than used to it. What good did it do? Well, as I said it's what got me to look into surgery which I had never considered before. And although I'm only 6 weeks out I'm very happy with my decision to have surgery. I think parents who are/were overweight themselves are in a BETTER position to discuss obesity with their children than parents like my mom who is thin. This is because they understand the complex web of issues that are the cause of obesity in a way that others can't. Maybe there's a tactful way to broach the subject. Just offering a different perspective than most of the other comments here. Is my mom a total b about my weight? Sure. Is she incapable of speaking to me about it in a respectful, supportive, caring way? Probably. But I've spent enough time soul searching alone and in therapy to understand that she has her own issues that come from her own struggles and demons and that's why she speaks that way. So I forgive her.
  14. Only 6 weeks out but I totally lost weight in my feet. Most of my shoes are too big on me now. I've had to get inserts for many of my nicer shoes and I think I went from a 7 to a 6-61/2.
  15. Hi there - I flew for an about 10 day trip at 2 weeks post op. My flight was only 5 1/2 hours long and they served a really good cheese omelette so I was fine on the flight. I just made sure to have something before boarding - I think I had a greek yogurt at the airport. I also bought a pre-made Protein shake at the airport after going through security and brought that on the plane. I drank half of it towards the end of the flight and the rest on my way to my accommodations. More important thing is to buy a big Water to drink on the plane. I was in first class so the attendant kept my water glass full, but with all the potential delays and etc good idea to have enough water with you. While I was on my trip, I relied heavily on my Blender Bottle and protein powder. The blender bottle was one of my smartest purchases. It saved me!

ah thank you! i totally forgot about Miraclesuit, those will totally do the trick. And frankly, they may last me through more than a couple of sizes. I looked at swimsuits for all and most of those suits were too full coverage - i want to show a lot more skin than that!

@@Jane1979 @@ssflbelle @@Inner Surfer Girl @@KristenLe ah thank you ladies! I fit in regular sizes now, so I don't need the specialty size stores. I will check out swimsuits for all - looks like they have sexy stuff!

Hi ladies, None of my swimsuits fit properly anymore - my main issue is that most of them are low cut in the front and too big in the breast area now which is...unattractive. Do you guys have any recommendations for swimwear brands for larger breasted women? I like them to be sexy one pieces - but for that to work I need a lot of support. Ideally it would cinch my waist in as well to show off my curves. My thighs and butt look great but I really need help on top. Summer is almost over here in NYC but I need at least one new suit for the rest of the beach/pool days and on top of that I definitely have at least one fall trip to a tropical locale where I'll need a minimum of 3 suits. I really love Malia Mills swimwear and that's the standard for me but they are too expensive to buy one until I'm in maintenance or close to goal. Help!!
  19. At 6 weeks out I'm easily getting in 650-800 calories/day. Usually closer to 800. There have been a couple of days where I got as many as 1,000.
  20. Heh, OK so I'm in my early 30s which frankly can be a world of difference from 24 (certainly is a world of difference from where I was at at 24) but to be completely honest I started looking into surgery because my mom suggested it. I would never tell her that though =) She is the person who wants me to lose weight most in the world, and comments on my weight constantly and has my whole life. We were watching some tv show together where one of the characters had the sleeve and lost a ton of weight. She turned to me and said "why can't you do something like that? you have to do something!" I waved her off like I usually do but secretly started looking up the surgery that night. I had never heard of the sleeve before. So, I disagree with some of the others here who say you can't say anything. You sound like a way more supportive and loving parent than my mom and it worked when SHE suggested it.
  21. Yeah, after having no issues with this at all after surgery, I had major constipation over the last 2 weeks. I only went once last week and that's because I took a dulcolax. Same this week - went 6 days without movement until I took a laxative. But then I remembered that I had run out of probiotics and had stopped taking them exactly 2 weeks ago. So hopefully that was the culprit. I've started taking them again and have added in a daily colace. If my problems continue I'll check out those fiber gummies!!
  22. Very sorry to hear about all your troubles! Pregnancy is a big trigger for autoimmune diseases. My understanding of celiac is that we are born with the gene for it, but it might not activate until it is triggered by something - pregnancy, a virus, stress. For me - I'm pretty sure it was stress. Fear of the increased risk of developing other autoimmunes and cancers is what has made going gluten free so easy for me. Also - the sleeve is a big big assist. I recommend you do the capsule endoscopy if you can. I like hard data and I'm really looking forward to seeing the difference in my intestines in 6 months. I'm hoping it's a dramatic change !
  23. Honestly, I just started over with a PCP that my surgeon recommended. The two of them were at the same faculty practice at the hospital where I was having my surgery. They worked together seamlessly and didn't have to deal with any BS. Since the PCP had seen so many of my surgeons patients and their outcomes he was very positive and supportive throughout but thorough and on top of things as well.
