December 16th! How are you telling people about surgery?
I'm also scheduled for the 16th. I've only told a few close friends and family. I really don't plan on telling too many people ahead of time because I did that with my band and I failed miserably. When I finally do lose, I will just answer "I had the gastric sleeve and I'm eating a lot less these days."

It has been a whirlwind! December 16th here I come.
My surgery is December 16th as well. I'm so scared, mostly of failure....again! Good luck to everyone and please keep updating. It's encouraging to know others who are going through the same changes and challenges.

Anyone else nervous?
I'm in the same boat! So worried if I'm making the right decision. I really can't afford complications since I'm cash pay! I see my pics and I'm convinced I need this but I also have a relative living with severe problems from his GB 10 years ago. That is frightening! My date is the 16th.

Awesome!- Six Month Milestone
You look great!!! That's a big difference.- Moving right along!
Had first doctor visit today to discuss band to sleeve revision. I was nervous and my red face certainly showed it! To my surprise, he said he would do EGD on Monday morning and scheduled surgery for the 16th of December (I am self pay). Yikes! No liquid diet either, just low fat. I can handle that! This is getting real, FAST!- Regret surgery
Michelle Ramos, can I ask what surgery you had to begin with? I had the band and have gained all weight back. I'm now considering sleeve.- Regret surgery
I don't like having regrets. The only things I would change are being more informed. My insurance only required me to see a therapist once. I never worked on the reasons why I had become obese. I might have also changed the type of surgery. My surgery was in 2007 and I'm currently back where I started. So remember that this is just a tool which you must take care of. It's still hard work. I'm finally at a place where I can get the help I need. That's the other thing, don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Good luck with your surgery! I hope everything goes well.- The beginning
Hi, I too am a teacher in La. I was just wondering if you were on state insurance and how you got approved for surgery if you are? Thanks so much and good luck!- Six Month Update
Way to go!!!! You have made so much progress and have given me hope that my sleeve will be better than the band. :-)- Band to sleeve? Recovery time?
Hi, New member here. I would love to hear from former band patients who have converted to sleeve, especially those who had no real loss with the band. I would also like to know how long it was before you returned to work? With my band surgery, I was out and about the next day. I know this is a much bigger surgery though. I'm really scared of the possibility of another failed attempt and the thought of wasting money again. Any advice? - Surgery done on 11/17
