  1. Hi everyone. I recently found out that I am pregnant (yay!!) and due in March. I had my band surgery November '05 and I've had 2 fills so far... 1cc each time (4cc band). I have no restriction, only the occasional "almost PB" when I eat something dry. I was down 12 lbs, but now that I am bloated and holding Water weight, I'm down about 5 from my original surgery weight. I know I'm going to need more fills to lose weight, and before we found out we are pregnant, I was planning a fill. So, do you think it's smart to get a fill while pregnant? Do you think my doc will even consider? I don't want to gain more than the recommended 20-30 lbs, and I definitely wouldn't be getting the fill to LOSE weight while pregnant.... just make it easier to keep things under control. Ya know? Honest opinions welcome. TIA :help:
  2. Sounds to me like your doc is trying to place the blame for HIS mistake on a likely target- Mexican surgeons.
  3. I'm probably not even in the same realm as most of the people who'll respond as I feel no restriction... but here's today: breakfast-ham and cheese crouisant (sp?) -jimmy dean/frozen lunch- chicken salad plate from local deli (one scoop chicken salad, vinegar slaw, and a stuffed pickle... I ate most of it) dinner- dorito salad (my husband's specialty, made with ground turkey instead of beef and baked doritos instead of regular)- one bowl 4 girl scout cookies and small glass of 1% milk
  4. My husband and I have been married 6.5 years and have always wanted a baby, but put it off because of finances or some other reason. Well today we decided that it's time. This is such a big decision for us because we always hinted, but never actually said "Okay, let's do it". So here I am, 4 months post op, and I'm ready for a baby. I've read the "wait one year" comments, but I think the only reason for that time frame is for your optimal weight loss. I've only lost 14 lbs. I'm a lower BMI patient, and knew going into this that it would be slow. I have 1cc in my 4cc band and would love to keep it that way until after I have a baby. So, I know all of you are full of different opinions- Give 'em to me! Thanks in advance! :preggers:
  5. If you look at "endoscopic62"'s buyer history, you can see all of the medical supplies he's been buying. This is seriously shocking!
  6. 100 lbs in 1 year. I got married and started taking birth control.
  7. Okay... I called my fill doc and the nurse there told me that if I don't have pain or trouble eating, or any other weird symptoms, then I don't have a slip. I told her about my almost sudden loss of restriction, and she suggested I come in for another fill. Now I feel like an idiot- but atleast I won't be worried about it. Thanks for the support guys
  8. Call my fill doc (3.5 hours away)? Or my band surgeon (Dr. Kuri-TJ)?
  9. I have no problems with any sushi, but I'm only at 1.0 in a 4cc band.
  10. Over the weekend I drank way too heavily at a Mardi Gras party and the next day was very, very sick. I think I had some alcohol poisoning- it was that bad. Well the entire day I was in and out of the bathroom, trying to get sick, but it seemed like I could only **warning-gross** throw up what was in my pouch. I had eaten once and I knew that there was food in there and felt certain that I would throw it up, but it was like the food was stuck under my band. Well this went on all day... over and over. My question is this- I have lost a lot of restriction since the incident... could this be a possible slip? Please don't harp on me about the drinking. I know it was bad. I need opinions and advice on what to do now. Thank you so much in advance!
  11. mmm, I love sushi! I had some yesterday. Here's what I got: California roll (crab) Bagel roll (salmon, cream cheese) Fresh Water eel Yellowtail Submarine (avocado, salmon, yellowtail) I love the sushi with cream cheese in it, but I know it's not that great for me so I try to stay away from it. One of my old favorites was called "Yummi Yummi". It was flash-fried and had tuna and cream cheese in it. Mmmmmm...... Forgot to add: I think sushi is such a personal thing. You have to try many different types until you find the things that you favor the most. I started out eating basic rolls (like your tuna), but have graduated to sashimi. I think I've read that the Japanese believe that every time you try something new, you increase your life span by 75 days. I like to think about that when I'm eating sushi
  12. Nov. 17 2005 Dr. Pedro Kuri/Tijuana,MX No erosion
  13. Schell, I know that your issue is not the one we are discussing, but I wanted to let you know that your situation sounds familiar to me. My husband's best friend and his wife are in the same boat as you and your husband. The wife MADE him quit. Told him firmly "You smoking=DIVORCE". Well, she thinks he quit. I know otherwise...he simply hides it from her. My suggestion would be to talk to him about it instead of delegating what he may/may not do.
  14. Apryl, excedrin is a NSAID. FYI
  15. Deb, I think what people are referring to when they say "No restriction" is eating the way they did pre-band.
  16. I had my first fill on Thursday for 1.0cc. I felt almost instant restriction, but before then I felt absolutely none. I'm wondering if this will be enough and the thought of mine "kicking in" later is a great thought as my fill doc is 3.5 hours away!
  17. I love threads like this on message boards as you tend to get such a wide variety of answers. It's almost like bringing up religion or politics. Shanna, we are all going to have different opinions on the severity of the situation, but I think we all agree that you've done a good thing with him thus far and that he should move out. :gluck:
  18. and who said he was using it in your home? it was in his pocket, right? I mean, if he was smoking it in your house, that's one thing, but this was his personal stuff that you found it in.
  19. Pot is not THAT expensive. In fact, it's the cheapest drug out there. He's 22 years old. I would give him a break. Just tell him you found it, you don't approve, and he has 2 weeks to find another place.
  20. Happy Kuri patient here. Run a search on "Kuri"... there are tons and tons of threads dedicated to talking about him and his work. Good luck!
  21. Dr. Houston... is he the one at the Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity? I can't remember all the docs I've called. If he's the one I'm thinking of, then his office told me that they would call me back on whether he did fills for mexican patients or not. This is really a stressful process! I just want my band to work properly
  22. Well once I decided that this was for me... and I knew that my insurance did not approve weight loss surgery, I researched doctors. After I found the doctor I liked, I applied for loans. Good luck!
  23. You can see the info on Dr. Rose at www.memorial.org then click on services, then surgical weight management. I don't have the number with me. I cancelled my appointment with Dr. Rose because I was told on the phone that I may or may not receive my fill on my first visit because I am a new patient. The lady told me that he would give me a fill if they had time. That made me pretty mad because I'm not about to drive 2.5 hours and take an entire day off work for something I may/may not receive.
  24. Heather- what is this sillyness??? I know that you know that you can do this! Now get some sort of protein in that belly this morning!
