Should LapBandTalk have forums for OTHER Weight Loss Surgeries?
Okay, I am going to chime in on this one....No, I don't think we should open up this web site to other surgeries. I get discouraged enough as it is without having to constantly hear about the amazing weight loss of bypass patients. If you allow everone in, this site will become another version of Obesity Help, and then we have to wade through everybody's posts looking for lapband support. Now all you have to do is log in, and you know everyone present is in the same boat experiencing the same struggles.

Fill Center USA in Troy, Michigan
Has anyone been to this particular center? How was your overall experience and what were their prices? Thanks!

You know you are a bandster when....
You know you're a bandster when....when you have perfected the technique of spitting in public. ie: placing a water bottle to your lips and acting like your drinking, and instead spitting into the the bottle. I love this thead!!!

Dr. Cardenas?
Does Dr. C perform smart lipo? His web site doesn't really say what procedures specializes in. Has anyone used him for lipo? Also, does lipo interfere with the lap band? I mean what if they hit your port, or the tubing and fill it with some of that lidocaine? Do they have ways of avoiding it, or don't the needles go in that far? Also, I am about 30lbs from my goal weight. Should I wait until I am closer to my ideal weight before I have this procedure done or doesn't it matter? Sorry, for all the questions, but I am just dying for some answers. Thanks!

Those of you that drink alcohol
I waited about 6 months before I had a drink. Now I have one coke zero and crown royal everyday before dinner...relaxation! Ahhhh! :girl_hug:

Banded and Alcohol
Yep, you can drink a little. I have a crown royal and coke zero every evening. Just watch the super fruity and high calorie ones.

Just Starting Out - Travel Questions
I had my surgery in Mexico, and two days after my surgery I flew home to Michigan! Flew into detroit and then still had a 3 hour ride home. You'll be fine. Just rest and relax as much as possible, bring a pillow to hold over your tummy to keep it from bouncing, and concentrate on how great you're gonna look skinny!

Youngstown/Warren OHIO fill doctor
I am not sure where Warren or Youngstown is located in Ohio, but I am from Michigan and I drive to Cincinnati to use Dr. Trace Curry. He is fantastic. Check him out, you'll read lots and lots of good things about him. His office staff is top notch, and his dietician(sp?) has the lapband too so her advice is worthy because she knows what it is like to be in the "trenches", so to speak. Dr. Curry's bedside manner is second to none. I highly doubt you will be disappointed.

Where are all the Michigan people at??
Yes, I was a little nervous. Yes, I went there due to Insurance reasons. Yes, it worked out great for me, and yes I would probably do it again, if I had to. It is one of those highly individual decisions we each must make for ourselves. I needed help, and Mexico was the only option left for me. Thanks for asking though.

Where are all the Michigan people at??
Hey there, I am from Michigan too. I live between South Haven and Kalamazoo. I was banded in Mexico by Dr. Sanchez and I go to Dr. Pleatman for my fills. I would love to meet someone near here to share experiences with. I feel like I am floundering and not making any progress right now. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat or if you have any questions about being banded in MX.

Checklist of items to bring to surgery in Mexico?
I found that a heating pad that I brought from home brought me the most comfort. It did not take the gas pain away entirely, but it helped sooo much. I brought some warm soft socks too, as my feet get cold really easily. Good luck, and welcome to bandland...

What gives with first fills?
Does anyone experience restriction with their first fill? All I read are posts stating that the first fill does nothing. Am I drawing the wrong conclusion, or what? I have to travel quite far for my fills so I am hoping like crazy that I will feel something with my first fill, because I am in serious need of some restriction right now.
