Surgery woes: Grandpa begged me not to have the surgery
Great work! I wonder if your mom is aware that going through (and opening) your mail is a felony?

Anyone ever thought:"I can do this on my own, I don't need the sugery"
I think most of us have thought this - over, and over, and over again. There comes a point where you look inside yourself and confront that indeed, you can't . At least, I did. I wore a pair of jeans today that I hadn't been able to wear for about eight years. They've barely gotten any wear. I lost some weight back then, enough that I needed new jeans. It all came back (with interest) fast enough that these look like new jeans. I know I'm not alone having had experiences like this.

Help me pick a Multivitamin...
I also use Flintstones chewables. They were the only thing I tried with Iron that didn't upset my stomach. And they're cheap, and readily available.

Anesthesia Questions.
I had a little sore throat from the tube down my throat, it was fine by the next morning. My sleeve was my ninth experience with anesthesia. No problems at all.

Denied for lack of effort?
Are you sure that your doctor is telling you the truth about your insurance criteria? Do you have a copy of your insurance's medical policy concerning WLS? I'm only saying this because in more than five years reviewing WLS cases, no insurance plan I work with ever required a specific loss during any supervisied diet plan period.

3 days till plastics tiiiime!
Those new ta-ta's of yours are very cute and perky! I haven't seen perky since the 1960's... I've got a ways to go before doing more than contemplating the idea of needing PS some day, but the amount of detail you post here is invaluable.

1 day post-op... am I drinking too much?
No, it isn't too much, and you can't stretch your sleeve with liquids - they slide right on through and into your intestines. Did your surgeon give you a target for fluids each day?

When can I go back to taking capsules?
I've been taking my omeprazole capsules since I got home from the hospital. How big are yours? It kind of depends on how things are going for you and swallowing, really.

????????????????MET MY FIRST GOAL????????????????
Fantastic job, and I agree, you need to celebrate this milestone!

CPAP post-op
I used my CPAP the night of surgery, and have since. Never was instructed to do otherwise.

Should I give away all of my clothes that are too big?
I'm only four weeks postop, but I've lost almost 30 lbs since October. I went through my closet preop and sorted things. I went through again this afternoon and got rid of the stuff that is swimming on me. I did hit a couple great end-of season sales back in January and bought two sizes each of a white LS tee, jeans, and black trousers. I can now wear the larger of those two sizes, so when I go back to work on Monday, I can wear clothes that fit, not clothes that are too big. The bargains I got were great enough that I was happy to have these basics on hand - I'm just thrilled that I can get into the larger size before I even go back to work. I couldn't get into them when they arrived in January.

I need help
I'm presuming you're preop and trying to make recommended changes in advance of surgery. if so, this is great! If you're in the middle of your preop liquid diet, please forgive the following. You didn't acquire these habits overnight and you won't lose them overnight. My advice is, don't try to change everything all at once. Start with one thing - my suggestion would be to start logging everything you eat, either in an app like Sparkpeople or Myfitness pal, or even just in a notebook. Don't judge what you're eating so much as observing. You can't change until you know what you're doing, right? Then pick one thing to change - maybe the soda. Rather than cutting out all soda all at once, cut back. Then cut back some more. And then some more. But key to this is knowing how much soda you're drinking in the first place, hence the logging. Good luck, you got this!

I got my labs back today from my checkup!
That's completely fantastic. What a feeling!

I thought they were trolls
And "struggling to understand" is how this whole thread started - because so many of us simply couldn't wrap our brains around the behavior of blatantly ignoring postop instructions. I never thought anyone on this thread was judging or belittling, so much as they were struggling to understand. I, for one, still can't wrap my brain around the McDonald's/fried chicken/what have you choices. I'm four weeks out and my brain knows darned good and well that my sleeve is most definitely in charge of what goes into my mouth. My sleeve is definitely the boss of me!

What happens if you start puréed diet a day or two early?
There are more options than shakes on full liquids. What about Soup? V8?

Fear and money!
Well, fear of what, exactly? As to the $, I'm fortunate - my out-of-pocket was $0. Other people here have saved, gotten 0% credit cards, worked overtime, and gotten surgery in Mexico. If you could be a little more specific with your concerns and situation, it may be easier to reply to your specific concerns.

Vaporizing Marijuana
Honestly, this is a question for your surgeon, if your concern is about possible effects on either your preop diet (if you've been given one) , or your surgery. The rest of us would only be guessing.

5 days post op - No BM - can't get ahold of doc
Try some milk of magnesia. Some folks recommend Smooth Move tea. Make sure you're getting your fluids in. Are you passing gas OK?

Sleep study ?
It depends on how the orders for the study itself were written. I was so convinced that I didn't hae sleep apnea that my sleep study wasn't written to have a CPAP titration. Turns out I DO have sleep apnea after all. I was quite surprised. I'm afraid you'll just have to wait for your results.

Ladies....
Minimum recommended by surgeon and RD is 64 gm, based on both my starting and ideal weights.

Shopping for soft foods:)
I love refried Beans with a little cheese for the Fiber. I also happen to be a cottage cheese fan. Canned chicken (I got mine from Costco) is MUCH softer than chicken you cook yourself to start. A slice of deli turkey with a little mustard, wrapped around a cheese stick, is good, too. And I really love soft-boiled eggs.

Quandary over chosing a new PCP
Really, it comes down to chemistry - which of them you feel you can best work with. for that, I recommend an initial appt. If the first one doesn't work, Try again. You can change your PCP monthly if you need to.

Kinda Concerned
I was sleeved on 3/10 and have no appetitie. I eat because I know I must - I have a calorie and Protein goal to meet. I know I need more than liquids, so I am branching out into new foods, one every day or so. If you are only taking liquids, how are you meeting your protein and nutrient goals?

This always seems to be from someone posting from the app. Same topic appears multiple times. Very annoying!
