Good to know! My last class is on end of Feb, so I should expect surgery around end of April or beginning of May.

@@thisfathasgot2go, any updates for us?? I am on week 5 if options class!! W. LA as well. They told us it would take 2 month after classes end, before you get your surgery date. I had to wait two month to start options class.

@@Ruby Woo Do you know the Playa Vista Option class schedule? or is there a website where we can see the class schedule? In order for me to arrange child care and etc, I would like heads up on when the classes are held. If anybody had their options classes at Playa vista Location, I would appreciate any info!! @@tamirn, I asked the same question (I have Kaiser )since I am right at BMI 40 and health education people said its the initial referred weight. I will be very upset if this is not true!!

@@Ruby Woo, thanks!! It must've an ordeal to be delayed 6 month! I just got a call for the orientation and from there I guess you can sign up for Option class. You are right about classes being full, my orientation is not until 10/14. At least I am getting the ball rolling!

I am sorry you felt like that was my intention. That definitely was not why I posted this thread. I am pre op and was researching maintenance photos and came across the her picture. Please don't feel like I am bashing anyone (who am I to bash anyone about weight!!) I wish nothing but success to all on this journey!! :-)

Ruby, which location of Kaiser are you with? I am with West LA and my pcp said "I do Not recommend it, I've seen many people with lifetime of complications!" He actually spent 30 minutes with me on why I should not consider surgery. (I appreciated his Ernest concern) he did give me a referral reluctantly but I am little scared now. Anywho, he refered me to Health Education, is that how the process start?? Also, how long after the referral did you hear from Kaiser?

Thank you for the such great advice! Your thoughtful answer is just what I needed to hear! I am sure many share the same fear and we need to continue to keep our eye on the ball and encourage each other from reverting back to our old ways. Thanks again! I hope I can get my journey started soon.

Out of the blue I looked up Star Jones to see how she was doing, since her successful gastric bypass. First news headline I see " Disaster after weight loss surgery" picture of Star from every angle wearing a white one piece bathing suit. I guess she had gained back 80 lbs and many articles ridiculed her for her weight gain. Now, I am not a fan nor hater... I just wanted to see how WLS can be maintained. I am 80% committed to having the gastric sleeve and my worst nightmare is gaining the weight back few years down the road and for people to make snarky comments. I feel bad for Star since she was so successful with her procedure and I am not completely sure why the restriction is eliminated with WLS after couple of years. Anybody else share the same fear?

My biggest Fear is that despite of what people say, I have the surgery done, look Fabulous and year later START GAINING the weight back. :-( I've been researching the forum like crazy and you don't hear back from too many post op people greater than 2 years!!! Many who has succeeded are recent sleevers (less than 2 yrs) ... Once your tummy can handle normal food What if I gain it all BACK!!! ALSO, when lap band first came out, doctors made it sound like god's gift on earth... but look at all the side effects!!! What of same thing happens with the gastric sleeve?? We can't even reverse it!!! Ahhhh I am so scared!!!

I haven't had the surgery yet but did you guys tell your Co workers? I don't want to share but I think it would be obvious so I would have to share :-(

I scheduled for a physical, at which time I will ask for a referral. (West la) last year physical MD did not give me a referral for being under 40 bmi. Unfortunately/fortunately I am right at 40 now. Hopefully I can get the referral! Did you have hard time getting the rederral??
