  1. I have become a frequent flyer here I was sleeved on August 20th and had horrible nausea, ended up in the ER for it and am back home now (short story). The nausea seemed to have subsided until this morning. I woke up with nausea today, took my meds and seemed to be fine. But it's started to come back with a vengeance and I can't take anything for it for 4 more hours!!! UGH!!! Will this always happen, will the nausea come an go over the years. Just curious. I did try to do a little housework today - sorting and switching laundry. I became light headed and sweaty. That is when the nausea started. Am I just over doing it too soon?
  2. I had horrible nausea and ended up back in the hospital for dehydration. It was not fun at all. Call your doctor, have them get you a different nausea med if the one they prescribed isn't working. Also, if it's been 48 hours with little to drink you may have to go to the ER to get re-hydrated.
  3. I'm still on the first week but I have heard of this happening. I would try to go to very mushy baby food consistency for a while. Your pouch may not be able take anything more right now.
  4. I'm an August 20th Sleeve.... sip sip sip, walk walk walk! Welcome to the losers side of the bench
  5. Congratulations!! That is an awesome accomplishment! Honestly, I am so glad to hear you say that! It's my first week and it's been a rough one. It's so nice to hear someone one the other side and loving life.
  6. I'm only 6 days out so I can't tell you other then to say I tried to sleep on my side last night... bad decision. I was on my side for 5 minutes then turned back onto my back. I have had a pulling sensation and just uncomfortable feeling most of the day. It's gone now but I know I will not be trying that again any time soon. I am a tummy/side sleeper so this really sucks!!
  7. I took 2.5 weeks off for surgery. I heard that the fatigue and mental fog is horrible and I need to use my brain mostly at work - I do sit all day. If I still don't feel up to it I might take one more week just to come back feeling great, we will see. My surgeon did say that he had one guy go back to work 48 hours after surgery. I think that's a little insane.
  8. Thank you so much everyone, it really does help to hear the encouraging words and know that this will not last forever. It's so funny that in the moment you feel like it will never end. I researched for a year before having surgery and thought I new it all. Thought I had all of my bases covered and knew what was around each corner. Right now I have no idea which way is up. I am mourning my best friend - food. I feel like I should be attending a funeral. The funny thing is that I was a smoker prior to WLS and I thought giving that up was bad. Haha that was a piece of cake compared to this. Mmmmm cake, lol. At least I still have my humor. The one thing I didn't mention in my original post was how this has completely messed with me on a mental note. I am a professional woman in my mid 30s, Married, with 2 children and I am the stable one in our household. This surgery has completely made me a mental case. I cried for 48 hours straight, woke up with anxiety, and felt as if there was this huge weight on my chest because I decided to do this to myself. I honestly felt as if I was drowning. But I am feeling better. Hearing from you lovely people and knowing that the worst is over and that each day is going to get a little better has really helped me. I will say that the buyers remorse is still there but it's not as all consuming as it was. I owe this to you and to my wonderful husband. I can't tell you how grateful I am.
  9. VSGANN2014 - Thank you! That was exactly what I needed to hear. It just so hard being this miserable. I do have remember that this is the price I have to pay for the best years of my life. I just want to fast forward to 4 months out. Camsmom08 - I agree! I have to just keep looking at that scale! I am down 14 lbs since surgery and it feels great to see the scale actually move. I too just miss food so much. It's been my comfort and friend for so long I don't know how to live without it. But I do have to remind myself that it's temporary. This too shall pass.
  10. Yes, my clear liquids have been Water, Powerade, broth, diluted juices, SF Popsicles. I'm so anxious to try anything else it's driving me in sane. I think that is where the remorse comes in. Not feeling like myself and not having anything to comfort myself.
  11. Typo - I was in the hospital from Saturday to Monday with Dehydration.
  12. My surgery was on August 20th. Surgery went great, no complications and I was released from the hospital the next day (Friday). I went home and fell asleep and slept all the way through to the next morning. I was up for about an hour and fell back asleep on Saturday. When I woke up it was about noon and I realized that I felt horrible, it was so bad I couldn't even think straight. I called my surgeon and he said to get into the ER right away. I was so nauseated and dizzy, I just cried and cried the whole way to the hospital. Once there they admitted me and gave me IV Fluids and Nausea Meds (pain meds too - thank heavens). I was in the hospital from Saturday - Sunday. Honestly, it was so nice to be there. I didn't have to worry about drinking anything. I didn't want to even smell food and I was in a drug induced haze the entire time I was there Monday when I went home it was fairly easy but then Tuesday came along. I have been able to get my 64oz of Fluid in on Tuesday and today but I have been having the worst buyers remorse in the world. I keep thinking what have I done to myself. I am on Clear liquids until next friday and am so sick of drinking I want to scream. My entire day consists of my timer going off every 15 minutes to remind me to drink. I am light headed - sort of foggy most of the time and hunger has just started. I can't do a single thing about it right now because of the clear liquid diet and all I do is cry and cry. My husband has been so supportive letting me know that the first few weeks are hard but please, does is really get better? I read so many stories of people who breeze through recovery. I just need to know that I'm not alone and that this will get better and the feelings of remorse and regret will go away. That I will feel normal again and not so depressed all the time. Thanks!
  13. I Had surgery yesterday and they just weighed me now, I am up 5 pounds. Nothing to worry about yet. Just follow the program. Everyone is different.
  14. Trust me I'm not complaining. I just thought it was odd especially after hearing about everyone talk about their pre-op diets and stuff. Well one more day till the big day... I sort of feel like it's the night before my wedding all over again, lol.
  15. Yes! Your surgeon will not be able to answer the "payment" questions for you but make sure to tell them that you are self pay so they can get you the numbers of the people you need to talk to. Also, some surgeons will not take self pay patients. I had to sign a contract with the hospital and put money down. Then they gave me the numbers of the 3 other places I would need to call. All in all here are the breakdowns: Hospital - $13,500 - I had to put $5,500 down and sign up for med credit for the rest. I also had to sign a contract. This contract went over what was all involved. 1-2 nights in the hospital, all the instruments used for surgery, all of the supplies used for surgery, all the meds I would receive, etc... It was very detailed. There is a clause in there that said if I only stay one night I do not get a refund on any money but if I have to stay longer then 2 nights I can be charged more money - LOL I loved how they put that in there Surgeon - My surgeon was $3,200 but if I were to prepay I would get a 20% discount (Which I did) and it came to like $2,400. Anesthesiologist - $1,100 I needed to provide them a CPT Code for the surgery (you get this from the hospital) and they gave me a flat fee. I was able to get 20% off for prepayment again. Nurse Anesthesiologist - $859 for one hour of surgery. That was after a 10% prepayment discount. She did warn me that if I go over in surgery by 15 minutes they will bill me for the remaining balance. I guess they get paid by the minute. I should have went into that field of work - hahaha. All in all it was roughly $17,00 for me. We were lucky enough to be able to save up for a year and only have 8k left. Let me know if you have any other questions. thanks!
  16. I am scheduled for surgery on Thursday of this week (less then 48 hours... eeekkkk) and I have not been put on any type of pre-op diet. Is this normal? My doc said nothing to eat or drink after 9pm the night before surgery but no other restrictions prior to surgery... Is this weird or am I crazy? Thanks!
  17. I agree with inner surfer girl - try some mint, lemon, lime, cucumber, apples, etc... to infuse your Water. Might help.
  18. I signed a contract for mine - $9,400 down and then med credit for the rest. Total cost is $17,500 and I'm in MN. I am scheduled for this Thursday and to be honest yes I am nervous about complications and the price going up.
  19. Hello everyone I am new here! I have been lurking in the shadows for a while but this is the first time I have posted here. I am scheduled for my Sleeve on Thursday and I am starting to have a lot of anxiety about it. I am self pay so first and foremost it's $17k right out of my pocket (although my husband keeps insisting that it's going to a good cause and he wants me to be happy again) I'm the saver he's the spender and I just keep thinking over and over that I am jumping in too fast. I have been going through the process for a year now. I have had all 6 nutrition appointments, 2 psychologist appointments and have seen my surgeon several times. I am fully prepared and know what to expect. My house if filled with juices, broths, Water, etc.. in preparation for me to not eat for a few weeks. So why am I freaking out? Is this normal? Did anyone else feel this way?
