  1. 6 weeks out today and I'm wondering if anyone has a feeling of "just drank too much liquids" with just one bite or one drink. I feel like I came in from working out and guzzled too much water. Keep in mind I am only eating / drinking 1-2 oz at a time. Too scared to take in more. Then within a short time I am very hungry again. Just not feeling satisfied. Hoping someone has an answer for me. TIA Sent from my Moto G Play using BariatricPal mobile app

    Stop losing weight

I agree with Cathy_Anne. Your protein intake is pretty low. I had my surgery 9 weeks ago today. My suggested protein intake is 70g. I could do it before surgery but since I have had a hard time getting without my protein shakes. I had a stall at 3 weeks and I've stalled this past week. I haven't been feeling great last week and didn't get enough protein, fluids or food in. So this next week should be better. I don't expect to go crazy during Thanksgiving and not really I'm worried about it. I'm still only able to get 2-4 oz of food down at a given time so the smart & healthy foods will go in first. Good luck with your stall and hit that protein. Sent from my Moto G Play using BariatricPal mobile app

    4 weeks post op

I'm 7 weeks out today. Before surgery I heard about the inevitable 3-4 week stall. And I had it. In the 5th and 6th weeks alone it caught up and I lost 17 lbs in those 2 weeks. I was a bit frustrated but try to keep in mind that many people hit that stall and it's just your body trying to figure things out. Keep following the rules and your body will fall in line. Straws

I listened to a podcast on bariatrics and it was said there is nothing proving that drinking from a straw introduces more air into your new stomach more than normal drinking does. I've drank from a straw 4 weeks post-op and never had an issue. If I'm totally honest I'd say I had less of an issue. I truly wonder where this initially came about. I had the shoulder pain as well. My aunt who is a nurse and also a sleeper told me it's the vega nerve that gets irritated and does go away. About 2 days after she told me that my pain was gone. I was about 5 weeks out. Heading into my 7th week now. How are you checking out? Sent from my Moto G Play using BariatricPal mobile app

    Vitamins

Can you let me know how you pay $40/mo for the PatchMD? I've looked at them and will probably buy but is more than $40. What are you buying and from what site. The PatchMD site has them at $16.95 each. Maybe I'm not looking at the right setup or deal they have. Would love your help. Sent from my Moto G Play using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. I absolutely have to do this or I wouldn't get my protein in. Thank goodness for the unflavored protein that I put in my drinks and mushy foods. It's just frustrating having to think about eating constantly. My weight problem wasn't really with amounts of food. I used to be a runner, injured both feet and became sedentary. Then I became depressed. I've never eaten a lot just wrong. When running I ate a lot of protein but also a lot of carbs that gave me energy to run. Can't do that when you're sedentary. 11. I'm getting enough protein in by adding unflavored protein to my flavored water and all mushy foods. I had my 6 weeks checkup a couple of days ago and was told my body is still healing and trying to find it's way. That it will get better. I guess I'm am just so tired of having to think about it constantly since I eat, I'm full fast, hungry fast, think about it again. I will say I am actually logging amount of food and times that I'm eating and I have been going a little longer without hunger the past 10 days. I was also told during my checkup that I don't have to fight to get in the 3 protein shakes in a day. That since I'm on soft foods now I could get my protein in by eating it and continue to adding it to my mushy foods and drinks. But I do have to drink one per day. Regarding my vitamins Ive had a hard time with chewables. I never get nauseous until I tried those then vomiting happened. At 2 weeks I started cutting it in 4s and swallowing the pieces throughout the day. I'm taking my vitamins, supplements and meds the same way, throughout the day in order to get them in. Otherwise I feel so extremely full. I guess I will just give it time, be patient and wait for my body to slowly adjust. Cathy_Anne I am from OKLAHOMA. Good luck with your surgery soon. Thanks to everyone for your comments. They are appreciated. Sent from my Moto G Play using BariatricPal mobile app

    Tired of the stall

I am 6 weeks out and I stalled at the 3rd and 4th week. I was flipping out! However, during the 5th week I lost 10 lbs and this last week I've lost 12. It's craziness I tell you. Yesterday alone I lost 4 lbs, but think it was water weight seeing how I was a little swollen. I also agree with an above post about having a higher calorie day. It keeps your body from getting used to the same thing day in and day out. When I used to do Weight watchers I would have a high point day and it would help with stalls. 14. I have been here awhile and just now a week out post-op. This subject is done a lot but I for one have learned something new each time. The struggle is real to get these babies down and to have them more palatable. The powdered is too thick right now and lays in my new stomach like lead. The premades are just too sweet at times. This is a subject that I zoom to when I see a new one posted. Plus the newbies are still learning the site/app. Keep the suggestions coming folks! 15. FYI...it ended up taking 8 days total. So not horrible. Just getting a runaround was the bad part. I am 6 days post-op now. Had the RNY, gallbladder removed, and liver biopsy for good measure. Very painful for 2-3 days but each day has shown significant improvement. Hang in there everyone. Sent from my Moto G Play using BariatricPal mobile app

    Issues 6 Days Out

I had RNY on 9/19. Took 2 days for bowels to move gas and I have no problem with that. I just have not had a movement at all. My Dr told me Milk of Magnesia so I guess Hubby will be stopping on his way home. Also, does anyone feel like they just had a baby??

    September Bypass Buddies

I'm on the 19th as well and also having a gall bladder removal. Just closing up on day 3 of my preop diet. I have 2 stages of the preop diet. This first week, stage 1, I'm allowed 2-4 oz lean protein and veggies for lunch and dinner. I also have to add half of protein meal replacement with those meals. Breakfast only a full meal replacement. Stage 2 I start on the 12th and it is a full clear liquid diet. I also get to have liquid diet up until an hour before my surgery. None of that nothing from midnight on. Thanks for the review on the books. Help to know which ones to forego! The 19th can't get here fast enough. Good luck!!!!

    Protein powder question

My favorite is Unjury. My doc wants the meal replacement/shake to have at least 25g of protein per serving but Unjury Unflavored has 21 and I received a 👍 to use it. I seem to be OK as long as I don't have to smell it while drinking. I have held my nose at times. SMH! BUT with Unjury it does not seem to cause me problems. What is Genepro and its controversy?
  21. Insurance has 14 days to respond. Yesterday I learned that on the 14th day they can send a letter extending their time. However, I've read that a lot of people get their answer earlier. I did a search on my insurance company and also asked the question about how long it took others who had my insurance how long it took them. The median answer was a week. Its been a week for me and my pre-cert status is still pending. I started calling 2 days after submission and they told me two bogus things. Typical canned answer plus they gave old info. I have Cigna Open Access Plan and was told they were waiting on clinical notes for 6 months of visits. Cigna now only requires 90 days of supervised visits. This is per their Medical Coverage Policy for Bariatric Surgery effective 6/15/17. But I know its been like this for at least the previous year. My surgeon's office shows they received everything but resent it all again. I know they have 14 days but I'm going to be a squeaky wheel they have to oil every day. Good luck on your journey.
  22. My program pushes the premier protein premixed and powder. And they do sell bariatric advantage, baricare and new direction. They don't push it on you and just require that our meal replacements/protein drinks have at least 25g protein/less than 10g carbs/30% vit & minerals. The only thing I've found I like without absolute hesitation is Injury unflavored. The others I can tolerate. Ta Rena
