I see Ivan 11/4. I have got to get my eating under control. I wish Ivan would have said you need to lose 5 or 10% of your weight to qualify. Because I probably be more serious. I think unconsciously I'm thinking that I'm having surgery why deprive myself or change anything now. But I feel miserable.

UC Weight Loss surgeon question
That's great! I'm hoping with our insurance open enrollment coming up that UHC will have dropped their 6 month requirements like some other insurances have. If not I have to wait until February. I have all my requirements done, just meetings with Ivan until February.

UC Weight Loss surgeon question
I have Dr. Thompson too. My surgery is not until next year so I can't comment on what kind of work he does. I work for UC and know he has a good reputation. There's two others on here I chat with who will have Dr. Thompson too. Did you have to wait 6 months?

I work for UC and we have open enrollment this month for insurance. Curious to see if my benefits change ( hopefully for the better). I hope things settle down at the MD office and I'll be able to schedule surgery shortly after my last appointment in February.

Good deals on shakes, vitamins, etc.
I think Sam's Club is cheaper.

That stinks Tssiemer! It seems like no one understands our need to process things quickly at this time. It feels like time is dragging in regards to this surgery. I wonder how many people don't get the surgery because of having to jump through so many hoops. Perk did you have surgery? I am so frustrated I think I threw away my WLS folder. It was just receipts and handouts from different people so it can all be replaced but I'm super organized and this drives me crazy not knowing where it is. Trying to get things going with eating better. I spent the day at the zoo with the kids and got 10K steps in. It felt good. Maybe if I string a few days together I'll get in the groove of exercising. I ordered some Inspire Protein, have any of you heard of it? It doesn't taste so well with Water but is pretty tasty with milk.

Hello ladies. Checking in to see how everyone is doing. At my dietician appt last week I gained 7 pounds! I see Ivan the first week in November and need to lose those 7 for sure. I was wearing jeans, sweatshirt and shoes when I had been weight in lightweight capris and flip flops. Probably not a try 7 pound gain. Getting ready for open enrollment for insurance at work. I will be curious to see if there are any WLS changes. I'm sure any changes would be beneficial to me. I work at the hospital and they have been making a big deal about their weight loss program so I assume any changes to our insurance would be to my advantage. You can't promote WLS and not offer that benefit to your employees right?! I ordered some Protein powders from a website Bariatric Eating. People raved about the favors, pumpkin pie and latte, blech! Maybe I'm doing something wrong but they taste horrible. Also they are not on our approved list of Protein drinks. Neither are the Premier shakes due to too much protein, but so far they are the only ones I like. Hope you are all doing well! Lisa

@@perk4756 - you are so close to surgery, how is the prep going?

@Perk4756-Hello! It just so happens that 3 of us posted on this thread and live in Northern KY/Cincinnati area and have the same WLS surgeon. @@tssiemer - Happy belated birthday! Hope your sleep study works out. @@molly - sorry about your cat. It's always amazed me how attached we become to our fur babies. I met with the dietician today and actually learned some things. Our pre-op two weeks seems way more restrictive than post op. Compared to pre-op postop seems doable. I was told today that after my 2/17 appointment they will submit for precert and then it will be 4-6 weeks before surgery. I gained 7 pounds, yikes! I have got to get some control over my eating/exercising soon.

Ivan responded that they take your initial weight so Hopefully I'll be fine. I meet with the dietician Friday and my next appointment with Ivan is in November. That appointment will be approximately the half way mark yahoo!

My appointment was fine. I sent an email to Ivan asking him about my starting weight versus my weight for surgery. I am really close to having a BMI under 40 and I have no comorbidities, so I'm afraid if I lose too much weight I will be excluded for surgery. My initial weigh in was 225.8 and I'm 5'2". If I go below 220 my BMI is under 40. I have a 10 year history of holding steady ar 223-230. Do you guys know if I can lose below 220 and still qualify? I've heard they use your starting weight but want verification from someone ar UC.

Something must be wrong
I am about two months into this process and haven't really committed to any pre-diet changes just yet. I have quit drinking soda. I have been trying out different protein drinks and powders. Now here is my problem. Sitting on the couch watching BB finale and thought hmm, a Premiere chocolate protein drink sounds good. I hope I feel this way pre-surgery and two months in.

Molly was there no appt that fit your schedule or they really didn't have one until Jan? My schedule is pretty flexible and I have been put on a wait list and they actually called when someone cancelled. Congrats Sarah! How long did you jump through hoops?
-
Ashland, Ky
Yikes! That sucks Molly. I've tried to schedule appointments starting in Jan and my patient advocate said she wasn't able to schedule into next year yet. Does this mean you will have been at this almost a year by the time you have surgery? I would be so mad. Did you have any additional testing like sleep apnea, EGD or cardiac stuff? tssiemer how was your appt?

@molly-let me know how the appointment with Ivan goes. I have a fitness eval on Friday and Dietician appointment next Friday.

She really just talks about surgery and how you have to plan meal times, eat according to plan, exercise and log your food. I told her I use myfitnesspal and a vivio fit to track my steps and she was pleased with that. Also asked about support system and what my husband thought about surgery.

Hey Molly! I did have my psych appointment today. Really no big deal. I had to answer some questions on paper that were looking for eating disorders and drug or alcohol problems. Also a couple questions on mental health stuff and how you have felt in the past week/month. Easy peasy and she approved me with no further psych stuff.

Need a chat room
Ivan did mention the 4 oz. but I guess I though he meant like "diet" foods. Not sure I would be satisfied with 4 oz at a time, it's like a teaser of food ...lol I could have shoved one of the coneys into a 4 oz container and ate it too.

Sorry to bug you but is it regular food? I may need to email him for a copy. One of my coworkers was doing their liquid diet and had tons of products left over. She gave me protein soups, shakes and bars I've been trying out.

He's the one I met with. Are you doing your own diet or did the office give you one? I've been eating out of control I see the psych and I'm probably up 5 pounds since my last appointment.

Did you get a date yet?

does anyone else have long stages?
@@Aaron I'm not sure what the pre-diet requirement is because I was so shocked about the post diet requirement...lol I really don't know the thought behind three months of this type of eating but will have to trust the doc knows what he's talking about. I'm a rule follower so we'll see how it goes.
