  1. my surgery is Monday also. I'm starting to freak out.
  2. I was dealing with some horrible things literally the night before my psych eval (and several months worth before then). I just didn't share. And was approved. The psych eval can and will cause a denial if it is determined you are unable to go through the process.
  3. Let me tell you, I was so dismayed at the thought of these shakes. I'm on day five of my pre-op diet and I can hands down give a seal of approval to bariatric advantage high protein meal replacement shake in vanilla AND in cookies and cream. I make mine with a lot of ice water and *drum roll* cocoa powder. Omg, the stuff actually tastes good. The cocoa powder is approved by my nutritionist, just make sure you get cocoa powder not nestles hot cocoa mix or Ovaltine or something like that. Play around with it and you too will be a believer! 9 more days!!! (Oh and these are the meal replacement ones, there are all different types of course)
  4. Lol. Yes, that was my fear also. Hopefully the scale will have moved in the other direction and you will be clear. ????
  5. Hi Princess, I'm on my preop and gained weight. But the few days before I had all type of last meal crap. That I didn't even really want. But my psyche almost convinced me I needed. Smh. But anyway the morning of day three of preop I had gained 3lbs. But I was actually following the preop diet it was just the crap had finally metabolized itself into weight gain. Any who I'm on day five now and I've lost those three pounds I gained in two days and think it will continue through next week. Could this be what happened to you?
  6. Ooh, good question. Haven't asked my dr. that one. Will ask on next visit, waiting for answers here as well.
  7. My nut doesn't take calories into account. (I thought 'That is crazy!') Only protein, carbs and fat. I read that you eat fruit everyday? How much fruit? In my our class we learned that's a big source of carbs that will kick you out of ketosis or fat burning. We were told to eat berries if we really wanted fruit. Other foods to steer away from were root veggies like potato and carrots, corn is a no no, as is onion. Its all about the makeup of the food. I'd love to share the whole list with you if interested.
  8. Hi Curvy. I was just about to write this exact post. I start my pre op diet on Monday also. I have chugged down almost an entire two liter Pepsi today. It has to be my nerves!
  9. Hey there, I'm scheduled for Feb. 8th. Starting pre op diet Monday. Eeeeeeek!!!
  10. There are lots and lots of us here. ????
  11. Awesome response from mom in law! Only a few more days!!!
  12. Hey guys, I got my date! Eek. Feb. 8th. It's really happening!!!! Start pre op diet Jan. 25th.
  13. What great news. I'm glad that is behind you!
  14. I had those concerns also. Heather I appreciate the reassurance!
  15. Call your doctors office, if you can't get a hold of him or her, call your insurance nurse line, if that doesn't help go to er. Better to be safe.
  16. Sending warm thoughts your way. You've got this!! It will soon be a distant memory. I agree on having the advocate. Trust your instincts!
  17. Congrats in your approval. I'm finishing up my last hurdle before all my paperwork is sent in. Can't wait!!!
  18. *pardon my errors. #rantover ????????????????????????
  19. I hated the sleep study!!!! It has been a nightmare from the beginning. My doctor has three offices in three different cities, takes forever to schedule an appointment, has incompetent staff that lose paperwork. I'm just at a loss. I finished all my clearances, nutrition classes, blood work, psych approval blah blah blah in early November here it is January and I'm STILL waiting for an approval from him. I originally did the study at home then he claimed I needed to do the study in their overnight office. I barely slept either because hello... There is crap everywhere and I'm breathing through a machine that is hurting my lungs! So I push through the silly study and they tell me my number is 5. I can't remember the term off hand but I know it's the lowest number you can have for the mildest of mild sleep apnea. Mind you I have NO TROUBLE sleeping at all. So I had to get fitted for a machine, wait for it to be shipped, and now use it a full 30 days before my approval from his office. AND he said I probably don't need it. So with are you prescribing it? And then on top of that he says well I think it will be a good idea just in case you need during surgery... OK fine. I'm OK with that but if that's the ONLY REAL REASON you want me to have it then why do I need to use the dumb piece of crap for 30 days? Sigh. Can you tell I'm ranting. Just hijacking your post. Lol. My bad!!!! I seriously think its only for insurance and billing purposes. And extra doctor visits. Smh!!! Best of luck.
  20. My surgeon says corn as a veggie is fine, but to remember it has higher carbs so not to have it as often as some if the other green leafy stuff. However corn as cornmeal is a no-no until goal weight. Apparently something about the milling process changes the way your body digests it and should be avoided. Hope this helps.
  21. 14 days out, nice!!! I'm 30 and have dealt with my weight forever. I haven't gotten scheduled yet but should in the next couple of weeks. Congrats on your decision!
  22. I know you only asked for male responses but I HAD to open because of the first few words of your post. I TOTALLY thought you were referring to something else!!! Omg! ????????????
  23. I didn't read all the responses but would you consider having a couple of your pants tailored down? Also I agree on consignment stores. That's going to be my go to.
