    Miami ANYONE?

Anyone near miami or the south florida area in general?!?!
  2. I am so thrilled to report I will be starting full liquid diet Monday!! I couldn't be happier!!!!!!!!!!! Protein shakes, milk, gerber fruit, OJ, butternut squash Soup, pudding, even lowfat/low sugar ice cream.... and my favorite .. COFFEEEEEE.... WELL decaf... but for now I'll take it... I'll trick myself into thinking its the real thing. I'm jumping for joy....... but i do have one reservation.... I'm scared that switching from no calories to a few hundred (even if from protein) will make me gain weight. I know it's probably not an accurate hypothesis, and it has more to do with food fears and past dieting failures but I cant help think it anyways. So my question for those further along in the process.. what was the transition like... did anyone gain anything? did they stall? Did it have any effect on your progress? I'd love to hear feedback!
  3. Friday my doctor is removing my staples and I'm unsure what to expect.... I'm expecting uncomfortable... hopefully not pain... Figured I'd ask and see what you guys have experienced!
  4. I just got off the phone with my NUT. I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and on the full liquid diet. For the last few days I've been having problems with all Protein shakes and the protein supplements she recommended. So today after days of just feeling like a 90 year old with no energy... nausea dizziness fatigue.... I tried a cheese stick... and guess what... I KEPT IT DOWN. Zero adverse side effects. I called my nutritionist to explain and get her take on it... thinking she would be thrilled I found a source of protein I can handle and boy was I wrong... She was SHOCKED that I had chewed something, because cheese sticks aren't on the liquid phase and thats bad.... So instead her recommendation was... lets stop the protein and just try... puddings, gerber baby food (fruit), Soups (but only tomato or butternut squash NO OTHER TYPES ALLOWED), maybe try some milk again with cocoa.... how does any of this make sense... why can't I have the cheese stick... it works? Others have it at 2 weeks. Also this full liquid hell Im in.... lasts 3 weeks according to my nutritionist before they move me to puree.. WHAT THE FUCK. I get thats the usual protocol (even though comparatively its very strict) but I'm clearly not the average case....Anyone ever disagree with a nutritionist??

    ANGRY WITH MY NUTRITIONIST

It's odd to me that I'm only allowed two soups... tomato and butternut squash. I did check the label and purchased the low sodium organic one and it doesn't have much sugar... I think 3 grams... plus I don't eat a whole serving (1 cup) .. so my intake is half of that. Aside from that... I'm having issues with all liquids and anything sweet. pudding isn't working I get really bad cramps, my old friend Jello no longer agrees with me and the same for yogurt. I think the liquids will get better when my nausea issue is resolved... I'm hoping to get medicine for that from my doctor Tuesday. I've been battling getting my liquids in as best I can with the sip sip sip method. It takes forever but its doable... I just can't wait to be able to drink without constantly feeling like I'm going to hurl. In terms of the shakes... Thank you all for the suggestions... but I'm not tolerating lactose so they pretty much all have been a no go. My nut says I can't have powder Protein yet either but when I can I will try that unjury flavorless powder. That sounds like something that might work! I'm trying to tay positive but this phase has proven much more difficult than anticipated... one day at a time.

    Chewing

Will I have to over chew everything forever or is this just for the first few months give or take?

    ANGRY WITH MY NUTRITIONIST

No I can't have anything pureed only the full liquid diet... I'm crossing my fingers she'll move me to pureed sooner rather than later... I can't eat... or rather drink many things on the full liquids because or the smell or taste or my tolerance... its frustrating.
  9. Its been an eventful two days... kind of miserable. I've had nausea and dry mouth and i couldn't figure it out.... turns out I cant tolerate the shakes.. so my doctor recommended Proteinex ... 18gms of Protein in an ounce. No lactose. Apparently sometimes right after surgery patients cant handle milk... but that wears off for alot of people. So today I took it easy and grabbed the new protein supplement. Well the past few days I've also had extreme dry mouth... and my tongue looks a bit white... I'm going to have it checked out but according to the pictures online... I'm pretty sure thats what it is. I'm frustrated. I don't look forward to getting up because it means I have to start the whole liquids/pills/protein struggle all over again. I'm not giving up... but can I just say how bad this sucks right now. =/
  10. YUP it was gross.... bleh.

How bad is it to sleep on my stomach?

I;m also a tummy sleeper when I was in the hospital I asked my doctor if it would be ok... he said I could sleep however I wanted and it wouldnt hurt or damage anything... However I tried that my first night home and the pain was unbearable... I'm two weeks out and I can do it now finally! IF it doesnt hurt you... GO FOR IT. if it does.... sleep on ur side with a bunch of pillows in front of you so if you roll they comfort you.
  12. about 32 ounces... its hard bc I feel like I'm nauseous because Im dehydrated and I'm dehydrated because I'm nauseous... also my antidepressants can cause dry mouth. Idk but... I'm uncomfortable. I'm going to try Isopure and this proteinX they suggested and try to increase my Water...

    Protein Shaker Forever?

instead of a shake couldnt you do a protein bar... or egg whites ?
  15. HELP!!!! I'm not tolerating the Protein shakes and im worried i wont be able to get enough protein considering on full liquid I'm not allowed cheese or egg whites or anything else basically. The only other option I can think of is milk... does anyone have any ideas? I'm also nauseous 24/7 it seems even Water is being difficult... this is new for me maybe 2 or 3 days it's been happening. Any remedies?

    Heart beating fast

I have had that start happening when I walk a very short distance... companied with cold hands and feet and lethargy... I'm thinking my Iron is very low... I'm going to talk to my nutritionist... Maybe have blood work done if it continues.... I'm 2 weeks post op
  17. I can honestly say before this process I would have never ever craved something as simple as a turkey and provolone sandwich with/ lite mayo and lettuce. And I don't mean like the huge kind you get at a sandwich shop or restaurant.. I mean the 5th grade kind your mom would make at home and send in your lunch box. That and eggs. I'm excited about eggs.... How crazy is that.. I thought for sure I'd be missing chocolate or cupcakes. But honestly all my cravings seem pretty tame thus far. Does anyone else have odd cravings.. or maybe things that they never thought they would miss?
  18. I start protein shakes tomorrow and all I can seem to find is these drinks in packs of 4, 12..... Do any of them come individually. How am I supposed to try these if I have to buy them in large quantities... what if I hate them? Advice??

    Odd cravings..

its so refreshing to hear im not the only one! its so strange the process our bodies go thru. =)

    Protein Shake Problems...

I ended up at Walmart like you suggested. The logic behind the no Protein powder initially is that... powders don't always mix completely and the sediment is tougher for me to tolerate/digest. It's not a permanent ban on powder just for a few weeks I think. @@Ashlegal I completely agree the disparity among post op programs baffles me. It's tempting to veer off track and mix and match what my NUT /doctor say with what I read on here but I know for a fact that would open a can of worms. So it's 3 weeks of full liquids for me.... one day at a time. I survived 12 days of Clear Liquids this cant be worse. hopefully. Shit I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

    Protein Shake Problems...

Thanks=) I cant have the Protein powders yet so the shakes will have to do... I'm going to thin them out and definitely keep them cold and just hope that by some miracle... I find a few that are ok =)

    I'm hearing mixed things...

Wow that sounds nothing like what my plan is like .... I'm on day 10 post op and I cant start my full liquid diet until day 12..... Then i'll be on full liquids for 3 weeks..... then pureed... then soft foods... but i think each phase with my program is like a month...
  25. How long does the puree phase last ?? Im trying to figure out what phase Ill be at by the time I go on vacation in December =)
