  2. I was also banded on 3/7. I have lost 14lbs and I am so excited! I still do not have much of a craving for food.
  3. ChubbyChecker (cute) I am scheduled for surgery March 7th and I am so excited! I know that this band will help me to regain the life I once had before I put on the weight. I can not wait for my surgery. I am somewhat nervous, but I am not changing my mind. I hope that you get a surgery date soon!!
  4. Hello Trinitydad, I am scheduled for banding March 7th and I am getting nervous. However, I keep telling myself that having this surgery could possibly add years to my life, not to mention just healthier in general. I look forward to the day when I can have energy again to play outside with my three girls or even go for a walk (or run) with my husband. I am definitely looking forward to my bday! Think positive!!
  5. Mel119, I have my procedure on March 7 and I will be on an all liquids diet for just 24 hours. From what I am reading, everyone starts theirs about a week out. I go for labs and other test on Feb 29, so we will see if anything changes. Good luck!
  6. OMG! My gut hurt I am laughing so hard!!!!!
  7. Thanks Texgirly I will need it. Funny thing is, I am a Starbucks junkie too...LOL. I have been doing fairly well this week with the carbonated beverages.
  8. Guys - we are all really close to only 1 month until surgery. How exciting! I have been working on my exercise - trying to get going to make recovery easier. In some of the other threads I am on, folks who have already been banded have said this is really smart. We have a month to get done what we can. What are doing to prepare? Texgirly I am trying to increase my physical activity, drink more Water and let go of the Dr. Peppers now. My goal is also to lose about 10 pounds before surgery.
  9. Wow small world. My DH graduated from Victoria High in 1993. Do you know the Ozunas, they are DH good friends. My mother is from Port Lavaca, alot of our family is still there.
  10. I agree it is nice to have someone from East Texas. That is so wonderful! I am glad that you are doing well. I see that we have about the same weightloss goals. If you don't mind me asking, when you had the appt. before the surgery, what was it about? What can I expect? Did you just have to do one day of the clear liquids before surgery? Thanks in advance
  11. I have told the people that are closest to me and I told my boss at work. I have struggled with my weight for the past 7 years and Lord knows that I have shared those struggles with those closest to me. I think that my husband got upset with me, because initially we said that we were not telling anyone, but the when I got the insurance approval I could not hold it. My mother, is one of these Southern women who think that something such as WLS is just too extreme and believes that I am just fine the way I am. But she is my mother and how could I go through something this huge and not tell my mother? I finally got the nerve to tell her and after a five minute silence, she said that she does not agree with my decision, but she will support me. That was the best news ever! Sorry so long, but I guess the short of the story is that I don't care what people think of my decision to have the surgery. I am not ashamed of my my decision and I look forward to a healthier and thinner me in 2008.
  12. Oops did not see your ticker at first...I see how much you would like to loose
  13. Congrats! March 7th is my band date! We will have to keep in touch to check on progress and motivation. I will have my surgery in Tyler, Texas by Dr. Hugh Babineau. I did not have to go through the 6 month hurdle. I guess I got lucky. I am so excited. If you don't mind me asking, how much weight are you trying to shed?
  14. That was funny...good one
  15. No, I did not. UHC was so wonderful. The process was very easy. Good luck!!
  16. Hello everyone, My name is Tiffenii and my "B" day is March 7th. I can't wait! Dr. Babineau in Tyler, Texas will is my surgeon and I have heard nothing but good things about him. I look forward to reading about everyone's weightloss.
  17. Thanks Faithmd. I know I probably am putting too much on the table right now. I will have to learn to take one thing at a time.
  18. Maybe someone on the forum can assist me with this issue. I know there will be a lot of skin once I lose the weight. Do you think that if it is medically needed, will they cover the cost.
  19. Hello, I am a 30 year old from east Texas (Tyler) about 100 miles from Dallas. I am scheduled to get banded March 7 and I am so nervous. I have a wonderful husband of 10 years. Three girls age 9, 4 and 2. My girls have always known their mother to be fat. In fact while I was pregnant with my last child, a friend of my oldest child asked me, "Will you still be fat after you have the baby?" OMG! I was sooo embarrased but more embarrased for my daughter. I want to be a good role model for my children. At first I thought that my level of education constituted being a good role model for my girls, but as I get older, and and see my two ailing parents, in part because of health reasons, I know that I need to be a HEALTHY role model for my girls. I want to make them proud and I don't want them to get older and be ashamed or embarassed by my weight. Wow!! I know this was long, but thanks for letting me get this off my chest.
  20. OMG! That is wonderful! My husband and I went with another couple to Pappadeaux in Dallas yesterday and I was thinking about what life will be like eating out after the surgery. I did not drink with my meal, which was hard, and I tried cutting my meat into small chunks...and it felt funny. I can not wait to get on the weightloss bandwagon...
  21. Destiny79, I picked the date because I am a teacher and we will start Spring Break on that Friday, so I will have a 10 day recovery period. Of course my scheduled trip to Vegas was cancelled, but this was so worth it. How is the weight loss going for you? Any problems? Or suggestions for me?
  22. Yes you did and I am just blown away that this is happening to me
  23. I am trying to cut back. I have to catch myself when I am eating. I am a high school teacher and I am having my surgery the Friday we get out for break. I hope that 10 days is enough time to recover. I can not believe I am having this surgery. I better get my behind into gear and prepare for the surgery and lifestyle change.
  24. I called starting about five days after paperwork was submitted and every other day after that. (Seriously) I am glad I did because each time I called they needed something else so I was able to jump on it pretty quick. The nurse handling my case was nice and very helpful. As a matter of fact, she got everything in order today and with in two hours she called me back to tell me that I was approved and a few minutes later the doctor's office called to schedule my surgery.
  25. Thanks, I pray that you will be approved. It is a long process but so worth it.
