  1. Remember, not all surgeons require the pre-op diet.
  2. I eat 3 frozen grapes every night instead of ice cream. I feel indulged and have still lost 45 pounds since surgery on June 7.
  3. For the liquid stage I relied on Water, sugar free Jello and broth. For puree I used organic baby food and blended oatmeal with a little milk. Because I was feeding a very small stomach, I didn't need to purchase much. Good luck on your surgery and your recovery. Having the bypass has been an very good experience for me.
  4. So far, the only problem I'm having is with Bariatric Pal
  5. I hope you can see this. My Windows10 upgraded yesterday and now Bariatric Pal site is a mess. I've lost the formatting.
  6. I have fund Munro to be an excellent brand for dressier flats. I also use Nordstrom because they carry so many sizes and widths. Congratulations on your success and courage!
  7. Congratulations on your success! According to my surgeon, I should never be eating more than 1/2 cup of food at a sitting. Welcome to BP!
  8. I am 64 and had gastric bypass surgery June 7. Had complications and a 2nd surgery on June 20. I have not felt the "up and down" hormonal craziness that I remember from menopause. I have had minor increases in sexual desire - never a bad thing and a little trouble sleeping.
  9. My surgeon started me at 1/4 cup per meal - growing slowly to 1/2 cup per meal.
  10. Please do check yourself in to the psych ward if you can and the sooner the better. Always get yourself the best help you can as soon as you can. Take all your meds with you,
  11. My nut said yes. I get Ella's brand from Amazon.
  12. I didn't like Greek yoghurt before surgery, and now I am hooked on Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt (in black container) vanilla.
  13. 5% per month may just be the average of 100% over 20 months.
  14. @@Daisee68 has a good point. Even though I didn't resort to hand weights, I did find that adding shoes, heavier jacket, etc, as needed helped. At the last weigh in I had a 2 pound window to make and I did it!
  15. I learned that there could be strictures or obstructions in at least 2 places. One is at the bottom of the pouch as the linke provided by James explains. The other is where the remnant stomach is attached to the intestine. I don't know the official name of this joining, but it is where I experienced trouble. Liquids would pass thru the pouch, but couldn't make it past this lower joining, so I experienced bloating and nausea before vomiting up everything. After several CT scans, my surgeon performed a 2nd surgery, 2 weeks after the bypass, to remove adhesions my body was creating in this area. Wishing you the best of luck.
  16. Are you taking iron?
  17. I was in a similar situation and was told to manage my weight loss so that I continued to lose, but very slowly, and not to get below 35 BMI. That way I showed the ability to lose weight to the insurance company and still stayed eligible. Good luck!
  18. I was in the hospital 1 night and planned to take 4 weeks off work. There were complications, 2 more hospitalizations and a 2nd surgery. Ended up taking 6 weeks off work. I have a desk job, but the real problem was mental, not physical. Just fuzzy brain after the 2 surgeries/anesthesias. (I'm also down 31 pounds in 6 weeks!) Best of luck to you!
  19. I believe that trust is the result of openess and honesty. The bigger issue here is not weight but trust. Your daughter deserves the respect of an honest explanation as to why you are losing weight and the history behind your choices.
  20. @@Ashley Frizell, I just took your survey. One of the questions I was expecting but didn't remember answering was "When was your bariatric surgery?" Mine was 5 weeks ago. I think my answers to many questions would be significantly different if the surgery was 1+ years. Good luck with your work!
  21. I had gastric bypass on June 7 and I did have a complication. A stricture developed below the pouch that required a 2nd surgery. I'm now 5 weeks out and have lost 30 pounds. It wasn't ideal to have the stricture and 2nd surgery - however, it was all over in a few days. The benefits of the surgery are forever. I was nervous before surgery as well - it's a big step to change how we eat for the rest of our lives. In my case, it was a necessary change that I could not effect on my own. I had tried for 45 years. Can you think of a better solution to your problem?
  22. After my June 7 RNY, I was discharged on the 8th and all looked good. In the meantime, my body was forming adhesions that would cause 2 more hospitalizations and 1 more surgery. Sounds like it's time to contact your surgeon.
  23. Age 64 - Weighed 240 on surgery day - June 7, 2016. So far lost 30 pounds.
