Medically Supervised WL Success - why get surgery?
I'm getting the surgery because every time I've lost weight my body fights me. I have insulin resistant PCOS. I loose very little and then nothing. I have never been able to drop below 180. (180 on a 5'2 frame). The thought of this surgery helping me get my hormones in check, metabolism rebooted and help keep the weight off is a breath of fresh air and gives me hope. Cw is 207.2 HW 215. I have HBP, sleep apnea, pcos, pre diabetes & copd

Need Suggestions for What to Tell People Who Ask If I've Had WLS
I have been embarrassed of my body for a long time. I can't help but share my excitement of the changes that will be happening. I will be honest and tell them why. Those I've shared it with so far has been supportive. The main reason for this is to get healthy and be here for my family. Screw them if they don't see the reasons for it.

December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?
During my 6 month supervised diet I only see the Nut two times. I have monthly classes with my surgeons Office but I only see him 3 times in the 6 months. Every program is different but it sounds like it's on the up and up. Good luck

I've gained weight!
What 6 month diet plan did they put you on? Do they stay involved with you during this process? Have you met with a nut? And a psych evaluation? I hope they didn't leave you without consultation or help.

Herbalife protein shakes..
I'm not sure if these health stores are everywhere or just local but... At these shops you can get flavored Protein shakes. (chocolate butterfinger is one of my favorites)They are Protein drinks mixed with sugar free pudding mixes, s/f syrups, Peanut Butter and butterscotch chips (this recipe) there are tons of ones to choose from. Frankly it makes the Protein Shakes bearable and down right yummy. I guess my question is would these type of shakes work on the liquid phase or does it have to be straight protein and Water mixed? Most shakes are 200 cal, 12 grams of protein *spark people has this at 183 cal 19.3 grams protein

Did anyone tell children ?
My son is 17 and my daughter is 19. They both did not like the idea at first. I took my daughter to the seminar with me. The Dr and nurses did such a great job explaining everything that she had a different outlook afterwards. This is a family thing. They have to be all in as to not have little sabotagers living with you. (Lol..????) honestly though I'll need their help.

My head may explode....Atena insurance is trying to kill me...
Pre diabetes is a co morb for my insurance. Maybe try calling the pre auth rep instead of the Member services rep to get more in-depth Information. My member service rep gave me minimal info but the pre auth went through all of it with me.

Psych evaluation- how did you find your Doc?
If you can't find one that does bariatric evals, ask your surgeon if they have a form for the doc to fill out.

Coke Zero pre op diet
Tell me about it lol. I've cut out soda and only drinking water/tea and 1 cup of coffee a day. Slowly getting rid of the coffee. It's easier than I thought it would Be for me and I'm still 5+ months prior to surgery.

Coke Zero pre op diet
My nut said soda is ok after you recover from surgery but that it has to be flat. The carbonation will over time increase the size of your stomach.

Yes, get the original report from where you had the study done. My report had my weight listed on it. I weigh more than that now.

2nd Guessing myself
I'm not anywhere near the pre-op phrase but I have been reading and preparing myself for this. It is pretty common to go through the "grumpy all day" period. From what I've read it only last a couple of days and when your body adjusts it does get better. It's good to recognize that you're being like this. I'm sure my "grumpy all day" will be horrible because I get Hangry now lol
