  1. My name is Cynthia Oberg. Did you receive my questionnaire?
  2. My insurance would only pay for the band or the bypass. After all my research, I decided the best surgery for me is the vertical gastric sleeve, and I cannot afford the U.S. prices for self-pay. I have a nurse that works for me that had the sleeve in Mexico, and she gave me the idea to look south of the border. Even though I didn't choose her surgeon or the company she went with, I am confident I made the right choice for me. I will have my sleeve on 9/5/15 with Dr. Altamirano.
  3. I'm in Glendale, and will be having my surgery in 49 days in Tijuana, Mexico. Dr. Carlos Altamirano is my surgeon, and I went through BariatricPal. He is awesome! He will skype or FaceTime with you. He has his own private Facebook group that you can follow, with pictures and videos and lots of real patients and their stories.
  4. That is weird. I had a PICC line and TPN for a week. That's when diabetes raised its ugly head also.
  5. The plan I have includes 2 years of follow up with the surgeon and nutritionist via Skype. I have had pancreatitis twice before, and the funny thing is, the treatment is iv fluids and nothing by mouth until the inflammation is gone, so they were treating you. I would certainly have gotten lawyers involved as well!
  6. I'm Cynthia, USAF vet and wife of retired USAF. I'm not near an mtf that provides the sleeve, so I'm going to Tijuana Mexico for it, in September. I was originally going to do the band but have heard so many negatives that I decided to pay for the sleeve out of pocket. Where are y'all in the process?
  7. Please add me! My surgery is 9/5/15! Cynthiaorn@yahoo.com.. Thanks!
  8. Dr. Altamirano on September 5th. I'm also a nurse, in Phoenix, AZ. I'm glad to hear you are doing well and the experience was good!
  9. My insurance, Tricare, will only pay for the band or a full bypass. I want the sleeve, so Dr. A. was my choice. September 5th is my date!
  10. My date is September 5th, with dr. Altamirano in TJ. we've got our tickets purchased and I'm ready to go! Only one week preop diet for me, thank goodness, but I can't do the diet that was sent to me because it has grapefruit juice, and that gives me a stomachache! What to do?
