Preop "the last supper"
I will be starting my 2 week liver shrinking diet a week from today. My plan this week is to enjoy some of my favorite foods and drinks but not excessively.

Week before my two weeks
I have one week left before starting my liver shrinking diet. Did any of you just eat everything you wanted that week or did you continue to watch what you ate? My doctor wants me to loose 5-10 pounds before surgery and I know the 2 weeks before surgery I will do that.

Less than 24 hrs and I was approved!
I have AR Blue Cross Blue Shield and my bmi is 40.1. I was so nervous that I was going to be denied. I do have mild high bp, reflux and pcos. Maybe that helped.

September Gastric Bypass Peeps
I just got the call that my surgery was approved in less than 24 hrs and my date is Sept 28th. They told me to try to loose 5 pounds before. They did not give me the total liquid diet like I have read about. I am supposed to substitute 2 meals a day for protein drinks. Anyone else in the 28th?

Really strange physical reaction!
I am still waiting for my RNY but this happened to me not long ago. My husband, son and I went shopping and after about an hour I had the same symptoms. I was at a doctors apt the next day and mentioned what happened. She said it sounded like a hormonal hot flash. Not sure how old you are but just thought I would mention it. Hopefully it won't happen to you again.

October surgeries?
I had my last nut appointment today. They will be submitting to insurance tomorrow! The nurse said I should hear something in the next 2-3 weeks. I told her I was nervous that I would be denied, she said my insurance company hardly denies and I meet all requirements. With any luck I will have my surgery around the second week of Oct!

Weight gain
I have my last nut apt Wed and then my stuff will be submitted to insurance. My bmi was 40.1 so they told me not to loose any weight. I weighed myself this morning and I am 3 lbs heavier. Should I reschedule my apt until I drop those pounds? I dont want to be denyed. The surgery cord did not say not to gain, just not to loose but I have read here that some people have been denyed for a gain.

Husband having second thoughts
Thanks for the advise! I will definitely take him to next visit. I lost both parents within 3 years of each other. My dad was diabetic and high bp, he died of massive heat attack at 65 years old. My mom had high bp and died of colon cancer at the age of 63. Both were overweight and I cant help but think if they had taken control of their weight then they might still be here today. I do not want to put my kids through loosing me at a early age. That is my main thing that brought me to my decission. He knows that but I think he is just scared.

Husband having second thoughts
Hello! I have 3 weeks to go and then I will finish my 3 mo required nutritional counseling. My dr said I will likely have my surgery the end if Sept or first part of Oct. At first my husband was all for it and excited as I was. The past few days he has been telling me that he doesn't want me to have the surgery. He said today that I should just stick with the diet and exercise and I will loose weight that way. I reminded him that I have lost weight but it always comes back plus some. He said he is just nervous about such a drastic surgery. Any ideas to help put his mind at ease? I am excited and ready to go for it!

Finally started the process!
I had my consult today! Loved the clinic. Had my ekg, echo, blood, egd and some vein thing. I met with nutritionist and said since I have a lower BMI, I don't need to loose weight before. Planning on surgery the end of September! So excited! All I do is meet with nutritionist once a month for two months. My BMI was 40.4 today.

New here
Good evening! I am new here and have loved reading all the posts! I went to a seminar a few weeks ago. I have my first appointment with the nurse, nutritionist and egd on Tuesday of next week. My pcp suggested I look in this as my bmi is 39, have high blood pressure and have failed many diet attempts, even with pills prescribed by dr. I loose weight and then put it all back on plus. I am ready to hop off the diet roller coaster! Anxious for my appointment on Tuesday. Looking forward to getting to know you!
