  1. Totally normal. It's the anesthesia! Could take a few days to wear off. Just enjoy the good sleep for now
  2. I'm out of the hospital. So far so good. Just trying to get all my liquids in and keep moving regularly. I definitely haven't had any cravings or desire to eat anything other than cold Water. Even Jello and crystal light are overly sweet to me now. I've been working on the same jello cup since this morning and have only gotten half way through it. Some food still looks or smells good to me, but I get turned off at the thought of eating it.
  3. I got discharged last night. Pain hasn't been as bad as my gallbladder removal which is nice. Getting liquids in has been tough but easier every day. I find I prefer Water to everything else - crystal light and Jello are extremely sweet to me now. Otherwise, all is good. Gas is insane. Swirling around in me like there's a thunderstorm going on in there. Gas x helps but I'm looking forward to that being gone!
  4. wow - not bad! how are you feeling overall right now?
  5. I'm having mine tomorrow. Best of luck to you and everyone else going in this week!!!
  6. June 16 here and today is liquid day... Good luck to you!
  7. Wow - such huge differences between different people! I will have to just cross my fingers and hope I'm one of the ones with no cravings Surgery is tomorrow morning at 7:30am!!!
  8. It's really interesting how experiences differ so much patient to patient. This has been helpful, though, in setting my expectations. I appreciate y'alls responses!
  9. Forgive me if this question has been posed a thousand times - I've read TONS on this board, but haven't seen a discussion exactly like this. My surgery is scheduled for June 16. My Pre-Op diet is 2 weeks of low carb (>30g) and high Protein (70g+) and I've been doing well on it. I'm amazed at how it has really helped with my cravings for carbs and sugar - and somehow knowing i HAVE to do it, has made it easier to adhere to. I only have 1 day of liquid diet, day before surgery. What I can't wrap my head around is coming out of surgery and not having cravings for food. I know you are supposed to not feel hunger, but for those of you who have had surgery, did you still have strong cravings? Did they come back later down the line? Also, what about if you were to watch people around you eating after surgery? I have a few events coming up shortly after surgery, and I'm just wondering if it'll bother me to see people eating and drinking all they want, or if I won't even care. I know everyone's experience is different, but I'm curious to hear your stories about this.
  10. June 16th here -- and I feel like I'm lucky, because my pre-op diet is just high Protein, low carb. Hasn't been too bad, though I miss eating fruit! @@SHRINKING LINDA - I have chocolate unjury and i like it - not too much of a protein shake-y after taste.
  11. I'm so curious as to why pre-op diets vary so much. Mine is 2 weeks of no carb (>30G) and 70+g of Protein. I have one day of clear liquids before surgery. I certainly feel for all you that have had to go through multiple weeks of liquids - that sounds very hard!
  12. I had the same experience, more or less, as bellaboom. I live in Texas, but my employer is based in Cali, so I have BCBS Anthem. When I started researching, I saw the BCBS requirement for 6mo diet, and assumed I'd have to do it, but after submitted everything, I was approved in 2 days. The requirements for the surgeon's office to submit the approval were Nutrition and Exercise Physiology classes, Psych Eval, and letter from doctor recommending surgery and noting any weightloss attempts prior (supervised by them, or on your own). It was a much smoother process than I'd expected. And since I was aware of the CME requirement, I had already done the seminar and found a dr. through St. David's medical, which is a BCBS center of distinction. One thing to note, after I got word of approval from the surgeon, I got the letter from the insurance indicating certificate of medical necessity for my surgery, however the verbiage at the bottom of the letter said "The facility where you are having your surgery is not a CME, and therefore your procedure may not be covered". I called them, and they said they are having an issue with the wrong language being sent out on letters, so if that happens to you, don't freak out!
